It's amazing how sometimes you can't tell whether it's a sunrise or a sunset, isn't it!
How are you coping over there with all the rain, Jan? I hope you're not suffering the flooding where you are?

That's really good, Carmel, thanks for that. Quite amusing the way it's done, I was having a chuckle! :D Explains it well....
Don't worry Carmel, they aren't jelly babies...they're gummi bears!! :D When I went to get the jelly babies, they were too big, so settled for the gummi bears instead. They work a treat! :)
Did you enjoy the ones you 'stuffed into your mouth'? I wondered why there are some missing...now I know! Haha

Brenda, are they male or female gummi bears, because we all know the male ones are more value for money as you always get that bit extra. LOL!

LOL! Nice save.

Anyway, Brenda, they look fantastic! You have no idea how much I want to eat one right now! Im sure they will taste delicious.

No floods here, that's up in Carnarvon. Here in Perth, we're about level with Newcastle, whereas Carnarvon is about level with the Goldcoast, so we just get the tail end of a rain bearing depression. Besides, Perth doesn't flood, except alongside the river in a few spots and in a few paved areas such as a dip in a road. This is because we live on sand, so the minute it rains, the water disappears into the ground.

So glad you have no floods...it's pretty scary! Thanks for the perspective, didn't realize Carnarvon was so high up!

Sunset a few weeks ago.

I am hoping it is going to be nice over the Christmas period. I have 10 days off... Actually even if the weather is bad, at least I'll have time to catch up on the Summer reading challenge. :)

"
Very Nice Gail, did you take the phto?
Can anybody please explain the term "spoilers" as I have seen it around the site quite a bit. I assume it means like don't spoil the plot/story or ending of a book for other readers. would I be correct?
I was just going to create a quiz but got a little confused as to how the questions can have 4 answers?
Can anybody advise?
Yes I did take the photo Tony. Not bad considering I took it with my phone.
You are right about the spoilers. If you are going to disclose anything that might ruining the story, clearly identify it as a Spoiler at the beginning. This will give people who haven't read it some warning.

Regarding the quiz. I hope someone else knows the answer to this. I have never tried to create one.
I to am outa' here from the arvo 24th & back in the new year, so I will wish everyone now a very safe & joyous Christmas & prosperous New Year & lets spare a thought for those who, for some unfortunate reason, wont be celebrating, I'll leave you with a poem, a reminder that you just don't know who is under that dirty beanie or long coat.
An Old Vets Christmas
He shuffles down a quiet darkened street,
alone, he always dreads this time of year,
cause locals, he just cannot bear to meet.
He eats collected scraps and drinks warm beer.
Now as the rain begins to softly fall
he crawls beneath a long deserted shop,
and hears the singing from the nearby hall
while all the time, he wishes, they would stop.
A flash sends goose bumps covering his skin
the sky now rumbles with a long deep tone,
then, brings back horrors hidden deep within,
again, he fronts the enemy alone.
Now mortars fall as with each lightning blast
he’s foetal in his cardboard box and prays,
and shaking as his heart is pounding fast,
arms wrapped around his head, he rocks and sways
He flinches and he moans with every burst,
relives the scenes held deep within his brain,
and wishes that the visions would disperse,
the sight of blown up bodies, still remain.
The rain’s like thunder on this roof of tin,
like non stop gunfire in a jungle dense.
He’s once again a soldier in the din,
where many boys, lost all their innocence.
The ‘war’ is easing as the thunder dies,
he now releases clasping hands from ears,
remembers politicians and their lies
and how so many died throughout those years.
He hears again the Christmas Carols clear,
his shaking starts now slowly to decrease,
while in the darkness, sheds a lonely tear,
and knows that only death can bring release.
He’ll fight no more this demon battle ground
as finally succumbed he starts to doze.
In time his lifeless body will be found.
This old mans story, scribes can now expose.

I think I created something of interest and fun.
Watch the vid

And then take the quiz 'Diamonds and MinX'
I created the quiz and then got 9 out of 12!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol!

Not taking note of the rest of the tag, I lifted the tag up to see what the usual price was. Usually it is $16.49 as well.
Then I checked about twenty items with a 'Shelf Price Reduced' tag and found that their 'reduced' prices were the same as their current retail prices.
On closer inspection I noticed that the 'Shelf Price Reduced' tag for my Nature's Way Slim Powder let me know that the current price is cheaper than the 18 August 2009 price of $16.79 (It's in small print).
So I checked all of the 'Shelf Price Reduced' tags and found that the old higher prices that they are quoting can be two months to two years old. Seriously! One quoted a higher price from 2008.
Go and check out your local Woolies for these tags, lift them and see if the 'Shelf Reduced Price' is exactly the same as the current retail price.
I wonder if Coles does the same thing.

Thank you Carmel, I enjoy writing for/about our service people.
When I was at Rebel sport, a few weeks before a huge sale the prices would slowly be increased so that when the 'sale' came round it looked like a huge saving on the said goods.

As consumers we obviously have "suckers" written all over us. Particularly at Christmas.
Doh!!..I don't know why!!..LOL!!

By the way, the group is nearly at 1000 members...995 last I looked....well done Mandy, chief recruiter!
996 now. I wonder if we can make it to 1000 by Christmas?
I make mince tarts for Christmas. I made the mince quite some time ago. I haven't had a chance to make any tarts yet this year. I might make some Christmas morning.
Oh good luck Gail! It's such a busy time, isn't it!! Have a wonderful time with your family, enjoy your Christmas break...take good care..:)
I am working today. We knock off at 3pm. Earlier then last few years. Most of the people in my office are Jewish so it's hard to get an early mark on Christmas Eve.
The Tarts are yummy even if I do say so myself. :)
Merry Christmas to you all. Enjoy the family time. I'll be around over the Christmas period, relaxing with my feet up. I'll have time to pop in here to check on you. :)

Hope you don't get too stressed with the last minute shopping, Carmel! Have a wonderful Christmas with your loved ones, and a safe, healthy 2011..enjoy your relaxing..happy reading..:)
Merry Christmas to everyone, after Saturday I will be offline for about a week, so, stay safe.
“When celebrating all that Christmas cheer,
releasing pressure’s built throughout the year,
Think of your family before you drive,
I’m sure they’d love to see you stay alive”

I used to work at Coles and notice it there as well...I noticed the same thing with price tags...Pretending you were saving when you weren't actually. It's really frustrating :/ I reccently saw some chocolates were on sale. I thought 'Finally!' picked up two packets then looked at the ticket 'SAVE 5cents'...I placed them back on the shelf and walked away..Urrggh.
To everyone have a great Christmas :D I'll probably bit a bit quiet until the new year is here.
Also have a great New Years plus be safe too..Don't drink to much..haha :P

I'm working right through Xmas and New Year (It's a busy time for hospitals!) so I may be a bit quieter than usual. Lot's of new stuff planned for 2011 though so watch this space!! :D

That's lovely Mandy...sorry you have to work, but our hospitals are needed over the break, unfortunately (or fortunately, in your case...:))! I hope you have as good a Christmas day as you can, under the circumstances! :)
Mandy you had me giggling out loud with the new nick-name changes.
::hicup::
We had an unusual Christmas visitor this year. Hopping around the house in the middle of the night was a huge little johns tree frog.

Thank goodness we managed to shoo him out before the cat spotted him. He was about 5cm's long.
