I have been sea sick for over a week, between Calcutta & Trincomalee, in Ceylon (Sri Lanka) - bit of story to how it started.
Wasn't sea sick on the ship in the picture (I was 3rd Mate at the time). During the night the waves became massive and bent and twisted parts of the ship, she was built in 1945, and was at the end of her life. We picked up an SOS signal, but we couldn't do anything to help as we had our own fight on our hands. The Captain had our SOS position written out (his best estimate) in case we had to ask for help. Didn't need it in the end, but we were all very grateful to reach Moji in Japan.

Its probably my favorite celebration of the year. Its always a great time
There are 7 other kids (between 11-16), so we'll be spending most of tonight in the pool :)

That will be lovely (yum prawns:) Brenda!!
Have all ..."
Such the opposit of here..We've all the blinds open, both front and back doors open..Letting all the sun come in...But it is getting a bit warm for my taaste. Very balmy day here will just make cooking uncomfortable :( No real aircon here..haha ^^;;
Brenda, yaay! i learn to cure a hang over apparently honey can help. I think it's kinda odd.
Booklover, that sounds like it will be a good time :D My family isn't into NYE celebrations. Spending all night in a pool is wonderful..Did that once when I was holidaying up in QLD. Watched the bats fly over head which slightly freaked me out..lol
We have a view of the Sydney Harbour bridge from our back verandah. The fire works were spectacular as always. HAPPY NEW YEAR Aussie Readers.

Gail, oooo seeing the fireworks from your verandah would have been very cool. Apparently the 2010 fireworks were the most expensive one in a long time.

OMG! That's awesome Gail!!! We watched them on TV, and they were fabulous, so I can only imagine how good they were from your verandah! Happy New Year to you...:)

Before you all get too jealous, I should point out that while we can see the fireworks from our verandah, we live near the highest point in Sydney quite some distance from the bridge... not what you would call prime seats.
You are such a great mum Carmel.
I always told my kids that Carmel..I would prefer to go get them at any time of night..at least I knew they were home safe..:)

Gosh my sister went up to my Dad around 11pm or 11:30pm and asked my Dad for a lift into town/warf. He was all, 'No, I can't. I was drinking earlier on.' which she saw as we all shared a bottle of canberry champers!! He told her she'd need to catch a cab but I don't think she did. Seriously left her 'wait' to long..lol
She probably was going to ask me as well..But all my lights were off and I was asleep..lol Plus I never drive after a drink or two (just doesn't settle with me well).

Im incredibly tired this morning, because last night the last of our guests left at 3AM, and I wasnt asleep until 4.
Anyway, it was an incredibly fun night :)
Glad you had a great night Jessica...that's what it's all about, isn't it..having fun!!! Best wishes for the New Year...:)

Don't worry about the nurses. We act tough but if you bung on a few tears you'll get away with murder!

Glad you are being well cared for Tracey.
I find the time flies fast if I pop in to Goodreads. There is always someone to chat too.

I think it's not hours 'lost' but moments gained in new discovered in more books to read..LOL :P

For anyone not knowing what Laura is talking about, Dr Horrible is a cult comedy show with actors Neil Patrick Harris (from How I Met Your Mother) and the always yummilicious Nathan Fillion (from the best Scifi series ever made "Firefly"). I haven't watched Dr Horrible myself but many people I know love it/know all the lines/spend half their lives blogging about it. So it must have something going for it. Here is the official fan site: http://doctorhorrible.net/

But for me it just didn't gel. The humor in it didn't sit right with me because I didn't find it funny. It kinda felt like it was 'trying to hard to be funny' but it couldn't make it. I'm sorry if that sounds rude but I can't find another way to describe my thoughts ^^;;
Certainly don't let my opinion sway your thoughts into watching it though, if anyone has planned too. You might enjoy it much more than I did :D

My absolutely adorable grand daughters, Grace (LHS), cheeky Isla (RHS), playing with Daddy...2.1.11...
Dad is 'flavour of the month' at the moment, cos he's on holidays...he's thoroughly enjoying it too..:)
G'day all, just wizzed in to say hi & we are back home, not looking forward to going back to work thats for sure.

It is amazing how much time goes when you watch TV series!

Yet another hot, dry day here in the West, but thinking of all the flooded people in Qld who probably can't even think about using a computer at the moment, but when they do come back on line....we've been thinking of you. Now we know why all the old houses were built on stilts...not just for the breeze, but to stay above water!
Just threw this together in between phones calls & orders, bloody busy here today, sick of the place already LOL!!

Survivors.
The floods are a disaster, yes it’s true,
but then, such hardships can be overcome,
and our resilience will now shine through.
As we wash away the brown and smelly scum.
It’s neighbour helping neighbour through the strife,
that Aussie mateship now comes to the fore,
where strangers can become a friend for life.
As we stay, just like the pioneers before.
And as was said ‘Our land’s full of extremes’,
we’ve been knocked down, but we will rise again,
rekindling all our hopes and all our dreams,
Though, we will remember, Christmas Twenty-Ten.

Ah, wondered if she was being operated on in Melb or Bendigo. Hope she's ok.

Sounds like somewhere I'd love to go..:) Great that you could have the day together...nothing more special than spending quality time with your kids..:)
