Sounds awful Velvetink! Hope it cools down soon! It's either heatwaves or floods lately. La Nina is giving us such a hiding...:(

Just went to the Haigh's factory outlet this morning, for the first time in my life! OMG..*DROOL*...if you haven't tried Haigh's chocolates, you are missing out so badly!! Spent so much money on chocolate :)LOL

MMmmm... chocolate!
Don't know the Haigh's brand. If I see it in the shops I'll give it a try.:)
Don't know if they sell it up in Brisbane, Mandy. It's only been in Adelaide until fairly recently, and a shop has opened in Sydney. Don't know how many other outlets are around.
OK, just looked it up...quite a few in and around Adelaide, some in Melbourne, and one in Sydney. That's it!
The head office is in Adelaide, where we went this morning.

Carmel - now that's a lot of crickets! We get them in Qld as you know, after rain (not the downpours we had last month though, too much even for them!) But believe me, as someone who lives in a small town in a farming community, a cricket plague is a LOT better than a mouse plague. They don't smell, for starters, and don't eat everything and... No, don't want to go there.
Glad you're surviving the tail end of Yasi, even with a bit of angst. Nasty so and so HE was.

I think those flooded and beaten by the cyclones have had a worse time of it. My heart goes out to them...it's "supposed" to be cooler tomorrow..although it's 11pm now and still in the high 30'sC. My dad took the temperature gauge out on the porch at midday and it registered 52C!!!! My vegie garden is fried. ;(

Morning Mandy,
The a/c men turned up at 11.00 am (three of them) and they worked hard to finish by 2.45 pm. The youngest was sent in to the roof area and came back like a wet rag – he recorded 52 c as he worked!
The machine pumped out cold air - it was great. Switched it off when we left to go to the picnic and returned about 8.30 pm - switched it back on and enjoyed the coolness, for about 40 minutes, when my wife noticed a steady stream of water pouring down the side of the machine and pooling on the carpet. Not happy! Sent an e-mail (get everything in writing) and rang the air con man. I expected his message service after all it was 9.15 pm, but I got him and explained the problem. He told me that he will be round to check things out at lunch time today.
Last night was 27.6 c in Sydney – a record – and a very disturbed night trying to sleep, even under the ceiling fans. Thunderstorms promised for this afternoon – we’ll see if the weather man keeps his promise.
As to where I live – God’s country – Sutherland Shire :-o)
Usually referred to as ‘The Shire’ the only beach area in Sydney serviced by rail.
cheers
Geoff

Dang :/ Yes, I was told more about what was happening to Vic after reading your comments on here 2 nights ago. Really hope the floods won't be as bad.

It's just going from bad to worse at your house! Are you at the stage where you just start laughing hysterically at every new thing that goes wrong! I haven't heard of Sutherland Shire - had to look it up on the net - but looks like a great place. That's where Cronulla beach is, yeah? If only it would cool down...
G'day all, the missus & myself are so exhausted, after/since Yasi crossed there has been so much cleaning up to do (just as much as when Larry passed) not only at home but for me at work as well since I'm the only one who runs the joint (-: I read where the weather boffs are watching a low building in the north Coral sea & cloud formation over Fiji again, we have already had 4 cyclones for the season, oh! well! thats the joy of living in paradise eh!....I'm off to do an 'Andy Capp' for the rest of the day, talk soon.

Thanks for the update David. Yes I heard that on the radio just before about that new low in the Coral Sea. Fingers crossed it won't build up into anything too strong.

Me again - the air con man turned up as promised, and I think he has fixed the problem (took about 30 minutes). At the same time the wind turned southerly, so we no longer require the air con ! (at the moment).
Temperature has dropped dramatically, heavy clouds as if it is about to rain . . . I doubt it, the wind is quite strong, if the wind drops perhaps we’ll get some rain.
Red hot for the past ten days and as soon as the air con is fixed, we no longer require the air con. Perverse isn’t the word for it . . . . . .
Yes, Cronulla is about a 20 minute drive from my home (we live in Bonnet Bay, if you are checking the map).
We have managed to keep a positive attitude - no choice really - but it has given our friends some amusement :-o)
A bit like a TV soapy . . . I hope this is the end of the whole regmarole
cheers
Geoff

Good to hear everything is okay with you David. I hope the clean up doesn't take too long.

I was thinking of you guys in NSW when I saw the weather report tonight. Seems like its going to be heaps cooler tomorrow! YAY!!:)
It is much cooler here already. The temperature is down to 17 degrees. Last night at midnight it was over 30, yuck.

So flannies or no flannies that is the ques??"
Flannies!!!!!!!

As someone who gets physically sick when it's too hot (I could stand it when I was a kid, but now I'm old!) I empathise with you. At least our air con is working!
'Perverse' is one word for your saga. The other two words are 'Murphy's Law'.
Stay cool from now on.
Monya (aka Mary)

David - can only imagine what it's been like for you and your wife. Do rest as much as possible, and as for any more cyclones - well, don't know about you, but I'm going to pray they stay away!
Monya (aka Mary)

I think Carmels crickets have make it to Sydney. Last night there were several of the inside the house. I wasn't game to go outside and check. Just incase I let a flood of them in. Yuckety, yuckety, yuck.
@Carmel for a second I miss read flannies as something else. I missed the 'l'. My goodness that put a different slant on things.

I've got black & silver 'HOLDEN' flannies, hardly ever get used though LOL!!

There's a few discussions going on BD! LOL. Monya is responding to Geoff's recent posts about problems he's having with his a/c, contractors and the weather (that's where Murphy's Law was brought up). Monya's also talking to David about the recent cyclone in nth Qld (he lives in Cairns and has been working hard to repair the damage). I'm not sure where Gail and David got the 'flannies' (flannel pyjamas) topic from but it sounds intriguing, will have to go back and check previous page!) And Laura has learned a 'hard lesson' about something which I want to know about. Hope that helps!
@Laura - Whats up??
Well picked up Mandy, I missed Laura's comment as I was using my phone to make my earlier post. I hope everything is okay Laura.

Gail!! Who are you today? Is this a challenge from one of your other groups to change your profile all the time? LOL My head is spinning.
I am involved with a group that change their avatars on a regular basis. I'm just bored with mine and trying to find one I'm happy with for this year.As they say 'a change is as good as a holiday'.

I think you look really happy in that photo.
Daughter and son went to a concert in Sydney yesterday...40 in Newcastle when they left, got down to 18 with showers and gusty winds....no warm clothes cos was so hot when they left...Home at 12.30am this morning, frozen!!! Crazy weather!
We are very thankful for the cool change...but yes crazy weather.
Thanks Carmel, yes, having a great time. Just came back from the 'Fruchocs' factory! Spent more on chocolate!! :D Haven't had fruchocs since I was a kid!!!
The weather is sure crazy..fancy winter jammies at this time of year, and after all the heat! It's quite warm here still, (26) and we haven't had any rain yet!

@Carmel- Oooo, i see you are mod now :) Is that so you can send ppl to the naughter corner officially? lol

Naughty Corner... Mmmm! That gives me an idea for Carmel's nickname.;)

I'm totally out of touch lately but I'll start to catch up again. I hope no one suffered tooo much with the flooding, Yasi and now the bushfires. Can't believe how much this poor little country has suffered in such a short time. Kind of puts everything into perspective a little bit about what's really important.
Hey Tracey good to have you back. How are you?
A very happy birthday to you for tomorrow Jessica.

*waves* to Tracey too. Hope you're on the mend, just like Oz.
@Jessica - Happy birthday to you! I bet your number (age) is a lot smaller than mine. I hit 70 last month. It looks so darn old. Have a great life, Jessica. Don't die wondering. And when things aren't perfect, do what you can with what you have where you are!
Monya (aka Mary)

Sorry if we confuse you, Zainab! You need anything explained, just ask. We tend to get flighty on the internet where no one can reach through and smack our fingers. Though of course we can be sent to the virtual "naughty corner". If Carmel will let us in. Sigh, being naughty takes too much energy these days. Hubby and I can't even be bothered to fight.

@Carmel eeeeeewwwwwwwww! oh gees it's like the Plagues. Hope they go away soon.
@ Mandy on the central coast of NSW we've been having record temps this last week, my daughter and I have been calling it "underwear days". 2 days of over 40C 3 at about 37/38/39, feels hotter today. We have no a/c just a cooler and fans. There were a couple of spot fires too between Sydney and here..
