Neko Oh poop :( Like the artical mentions it's exactly a month since the horror one struck...How evil it seems to strike now (or really ever again).

It's terrible, makes you wonder how they will ever get back to normal..

message 2053: by Neko (new)

Neko Oddly enough when I told my Mum she said exactly the same thing. I really hope they don't suffer anymore earthquakes.

message 2054: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments It's hard to believe how much our poor little planet has suffered lately. I have a lot of atheist/agnostic friends who've all started talking about Dec 21, 2012. Not that I blame them, it's been a pretty cruel start to 2011.
On a lighter note, after having to put down my beloved Keeshond Shayla, I now have a delightful Tibetan Spaniel called Angel. She's white and gold and keeps me amused with her antics, although the cat is not quite so impressed lol

Neko Finally doing the 'proper' cleaning I was meant to do ages ago...Suddenly I can see out the windows! No I kid, thankfully will never be that bad..lol But I now have more room and will hopefully have some more by the time I am finished.

Mostly book sorting atm.

message 2067: by [deleted user] (new)

i did some cleaning to day too and by that i mean any piece of clothing not in my draws was assumed dirty and
thrown in the wash to be dealt with at a latter time :D

the beagle also got a wash and is now sun-baking....she has a horrible life

message 2068: by Neko (last edited Apr 13, 2011 07:46PM) (new)

Neko hahaha, I know that type of wash..Anything goes xD

Mmm, what is sun? I haven't seen it since last Saturday :(

My sister tried to convince me to go shopping with her by temping me with beetroot chips..Really she just wanted me to drive in :P But this cleaning is actually important and well, rain + town + lunch time = horror for car parking.

If it was nice weather plus no cleaning I would have gone x)

message 2069: by [deleted user] (new)

rain and car parking never go together ...ever!

its very sunny here thank god i live in the mountains its hot as anything down on the coast. all your talk of rain has made me miss tassy :( ahaha

message 2070: by Neko (new)

Neko Would you like some rain? I'll go grab a big bottle of it and ship it over..lol This rain is actually the worst we've had in years..I think we've already had our normal amount of rain for the month plus more.

Schools and work places have actually been shut due to the roads being flooded ><;; Where my Mum teaches the new buildings have actually flooded O_o;;

Haha, which part of Tassie you been too?

message 2071: by [deleted user] (new)

thats a lot of rain thankfully the rain down south east queensland has subsided and now we can get on with blistering heat!

tassie we drove down one side... so to be honest no idea but i know some of the places I visited ; Port Arther (i want to live there its so green!), launceston, Hobart Richmond, lots of vineyards and an oyster farm lol.. i just found the journal from the trip trying to read that writing but yea down that side we got some awesomely warm blankets from Waverley i love them!

Need to do the inside next!!!

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments I've been doing a little spring cleaning myself lately. Well not really spring cleaning but while I was in the hospital my sister and a bunch of my friends did all the redecorating I'd planned - got the carpet laid, painting done, furniture delivered etc. But now I've got to figure out where everything should go and I'm really struggling with my 'library' - I had no idea just how many books I'd actually collected over the years till I had to put them away in my bookcases. Thank heavens for the Kindle, I simply can't afford to buy any more DTB's unless I buy a bigger house lol. Been a crazy time lately is all I can say and I hope things settle down a little soon.

message 2074: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80022 comments Mod
Tracey, how lovely of your sister and friends to do all of that work for you while you were in hospital. Now you should be enjoying sorting your books into bookshelves, cataloguing them while you can..lol I'm going to ask a silly question..DTB.. ??

message 2075: by Tracey (new)

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments DTB as in Dead Tree Book or paperback. I've got most of them sorted out but I have two bookcases totally devoted to non-fiction stuff, mostly books on ancient civilizations, like Egypt in particular or religious books - lot of left overs from when I was doing my Uni degrees. Now that I'm going back to do my Masters I'll end up with even more... I'm sure I can squeeze in another bookcase somewhere lol.

And yes it was fabulous they did all the work for me. I'd picked out the furniture, paint and carpet before I got sick but hadn't had a chance to start the actual process so my sister thought it would be a nice surprise for me to have it all done when I got home. I'll confess I shed a few tears when I saw all the hard work they'd put in.

message 2076: by Brenda, Aussie Authors Queen (new)

Brenda | 80022 comments Mod
I'll bet you did Tracey..worth a few tears and hugs I reckon! :)
Hmmmm, couldn't figure out the DTB, but now I get it..lol
Yes, you'll end up with heaps more doing your Masters...when are you going to do that?

message 2077: by Neko (new)

Neko @Melanie- Seems like you went down the East coast then :) Sounds like it would have been a good trip :D

@Brenda- Been busy! Get everything taken care of inside the house as well?

@Tracey - What is a Dead Tree Book? What lovely friends and family to have done that for you :D!

Weeeee...Picked up some work for tomorrow :D And possibly working up until Easter break which I know isn't very long at all but still can go towards my bills..bboooooO~!

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments @ Brenda, starting mid-term so beginning of July. My Masters will be in Religion and Theology and I'm planning on doing my thesis on the evolution of Christianity primarily with references to ancient mystery cults. I'm really looking forward to it and hopefully when I finish writing my non-fiction book the Masters will give it that extra stamp of authenticity.

Congrats on the work Laura - love that extra pocket money :)

And yes Carmel I am truly blessed with my friends and family, not to mention thoroughly spoilt lol

message 2084: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Today I competed at the SASSA competition (South Australian Secondary Schools Athletics) for hurdles. I was glad to make it so far-didnt think I would even qualify for the school team, let alone get to state level :D
I came fourth in my event, though they used a photo finish to distinguish 3rd/4th/5th, so it was exciting still. Now, judging on my times so far this year, I might make the school knock out team, which will take me interstate later this year :)

My school came 2nd in the girls, and 3rd in the boys. Overall we finished 1st, which was awesome :D

message 2085: by Neko (new)

Neko Thank you guys :D I'm going to the pool for part of the working day..ehehe...Will be interesting.I'm a touch nervous about that since I won't be on school grounds and I'm going to be supervising a child with a disablity. But I'm told I don't really need to do that much and someone else from the school should be with me as well..I certainly hope so.

But on the other hand it's great they trust me already to do such as thing :)

@Jessica- Congrats! That would be a huge buzzzzzz ^_^

Mandapanda Just wanted to let everyone know I'll be retiring as a moderator for family reasons. I've loved being mod for the past year and it's been fun to build up the membership and chat with lots of new people. But these days I don't have a lot of spare time and would rather use it reading a book! I'll continue with Goodreads but just as a member. I'll be seeing you all around.:) Mandy
