We'll see ;) I like it so far, but it needs a heck of a lot of polishing! (And probably restructuring, reorganising, and plot fixing...)

Oh lucky you Leonie! Have a great time...and good luck with the new book :)

Oh, damn, I like a full glass.

Nah,...Take it from someone who gets too much time on her hands...The first week or two can be bliss but after that it's just not fun anymore. I don't know if that's down to age but I love doing/engaging rather than WHAT I wanna do.

I feel like that sometimes, too. I think the problem is having someone to do lots of things with. All of my friends still work.

Have fun Leonie.

I still haven't seen it! I saw the the very first one and was intrigued but never really got into it. Should I still worth seeing The Force Awakens?

Thanks, Dale :)
I just tipped 140 ml out of our rain gauge after 57 yesterday afternoon. We have minor flooding in our yard with the gardens and paths under water. Our back patio has water right across to the back step. But the surrounding areas are badly flooding. We have to look forward to another 24-48 hours of this unrelenting rain yet... it's a worry. The amount of accidents, both minor and severe are shocking. One road death this afternoon of a 20 year old in which we witnessed fire, ambulance and a multitude of police vehicles rushing to the scene!

Our yard is in a similar state to yours. I have spent several hours today in the preschool moving furniture and lifting carpets just in case we get a repeat of what happened last time! If it rains as hard tonight as they say it might then we will probably flood again:(

Oh dear, you poor thing:( It's never ending! I hope your preschool is alright as well as your house etc...
I think you have it worse than us though. As long as it doesn't get worse tonight. Fingers crossed.
I have everything crossed Phrynne! But it's just not stopping. The drain out the front sounds like a waterfall!
No I doubt it... I keep checking everything to see there's no water getting in where it shouldn't! Take care:)

And be careful driving in all that rain - it's been a wet day in Brisbane today as well and this morning my car spun around as I entered a roundabout leaving me facing the opposite direction! Thankfully there weren't any cars nearby, nor was I going very fast - think my brakes just locked and it all happened so fast that I didn't have time to take my foot off the brake... But very easy for something like that to happen - if not to you, to someone else on the road near you...
Oh Kathryn that's so scary! And so easy to happen. Glad you were alright and it wasn't a much worse result!

Yes, and it was a little scary at the time as well! But nothing to complain about, considering what could have been at a busier time of day.

Thanks Michael...that's the frustrating part - drought in some parts of the country, floods in others and fire in others as well. So crazy!

That would have been frightening Kathryn. Thank God no one was nearby as it could have been a lot worse. Glad you are okay. There was a horrible accident here in Cowes on the highway earlier today. We were detoured through but it didn't look good. It was on the news but I missed it but I think there may have been a fatality. You can't help thinking " by the Grace of God"... we were about 5 minutes away and would have passed right through there. I haven't been watching the news....too depressing but happened to see it tonight and realised how bad the flooding is in Newcastle. Then I saw the news about the murder/suicide of those poor children. Just awful. I know now why I usually avoid the news. I may not know what's going on but at least I'm blissful in my ignorance. Stay safe everyone. It definitely is crazy.

Thanks, Elaine. And it is true that there are lots of awful things on the news. I don't often watch the news on TV myself - I prefer to pick up snippets of the major things here on GR (thanks to everyone who keeps me semi-informed!) or on the radio or from ads on TV or catching glimpses of headlines in the papers.
Glad you weren't caught up in the accident you saw. Hope you're enjoying the time away!

Ditto to all that has been said Kathryn. Thank goodness it wasn't worse and you didn't have a heart attach.
On a happier note, I have been loving the rain Qld is getting. It is just that continuous soaking rain; precisely what inland Qld needs. I hope it is widespread and the farmers have some relief but I hear it is looking good. Maybe some missed out, but there seems to be a large area that received good rain.
Storms bring brief rain but this soaking rain is just the best. I really am going to have to get a Gardner when this is over. My yard is already looking too wild. Everything grows so fast when you get a couple of days of continuous soaking rain.
Michael, I feel for you but your turn will come I am sure. I hope when it does, it comes in the form we are getting at the moment. Much better rain than flood rain.
:) ciao

Not good news re pre-school or accidents from Phrynne and Brenda. We have had a lot of rain but all still on the outside. No leaks. Very thankful for a secure house.

That's why I don't watch the news too, Elaine. Just get snippets from online headlines or from radio if in the car
Hope your preschool is alright this morning Phrynne....lots of roads closed here with the authorities asking people not to go out unless it's essential.
I just emptied another 106ml out of the rain gauge and that's from only 12 hours rain. So over 300ml or 12 inches in the old scale! Now the wind is coming up - soggy bases around trees with the wind isn't a good combination.
Take care out there everyone!

I think nature has it wrong this year - WE'RE suppose to be getting the monsoonal rain and high winds - not you lot!!!
Give it back!!!
Rang mum this morning - she goes into conniptions whenever the words 'east coast low' comes up She is not in a flood prone area - although the back road to Belmont is cut off, but that happens when there is drizzle as the swamp so close to the road!! Her only cause for concern is that her driveway slopes down into her garage and water pours down the driveway and fills her garage. She has the towels down ready at the doorway between garage and her kitchen.
Glad everything is relatively ok for her Sally - I was thinking of her this morning, and hoping she was alright. I've just discovered the beginnings of several minor leaks in the garage - towels are stuffed around everywhere so hoping it won't get worse. Also forgot to turn on the electricity for our hot water last night (we have solar) so no hot water today:(

Yeah it's not good. Heap of people here couldn't get to work this morning in Newcastle. Mum also was supposed to have chemo at the Marta but can't go.
There are roads closed everywhere and it's best to stay home if at all possible. Sorry your Mum isn't able to have her treatment; hopefully in a couple of days.
