Goodness me they're a backward lot over there (or they were!)

Lol! So it's not just us :[]

I'm sure it's not so bad now. We had done a lot of camping trips in the south of WA and were used to small towns but were still surprised that there was nowhere open to eat after 6pm in the peak of tourist season!

Crazy! Especially as that is usually the start of dinner time!

Has anyone else been watching this series on country Aussie towns? It's been quite interesting so far, lots of personal interest stories about the locals.

I think it's in the DJ job description that they have to speak like teens! Never mind, they'll be 40 one day and not able to understand the next generation of DJs :)

Me too Julie. I have a keyring that says that!!! I can't say I had any weird experiences in Tassie. I was just so in love with the place and everywhere we went and everyone we met was so lovely. The only place where our reception was a bit frosty was at the accommodation place we stayed in at Cradle Mountain. She was really rude and clearly didn't want to be there!!! Funny thing is I'm sure I spoke to the same woman on the phone when I made the booking and she was just as rude then. But it was a very small thing in what was a wonderful experience overall. And yes we should have an AR get together in Tassie...that's if they'll have us.
Bette I think you are a bit of a hippy at heart and maybe a bit Bohemian. Sounds like you've lived some great adventures.

I think it might still be the same in the smaller towns Brenda. I do remember arriving quite late in Bicheno and we just managed to grab some fish and chips before they closed for the night. Nothing else was open!!! That was really odd for us Melburnians who are used to places being open quite late and food being served till at least 9pm if not later, especially in the Summer/holiday season.

From memory I think they turn the lights out in Tassie at around

Totally agree! Where's all our Tassie friends? You folk need to organise this so that we can have a better reason to come down to visit ;D

Tassie is quiet in general after a certain time of night but you can go to Maccas and Kmart as they are open 24hrs..lmao ;)
Things are catching on here slowly slowly.

Lol, well at least we know you's have a sense of humour! ;)

Not even cheese n crackers. That's harsh.

Yes I am :)
We are not that bad, the lights dont get turned off quite so early anymore, at least in Launceston & Hobart. Go to the smaller country & coastal towns & you may run into trouble though :)

In Discworld Octarine is the colour of magic - it's the 8th colour of the spectrum (after ROYGBIV) and is only visible to wizards and cats.

Good one Carolyn. I will go and check it out:)

I shall also go and have a look :)

Tomorrow I'm meeting a puppy and thought it'd be better in cooler temps than in todays warmth. Then Friday is meant to warm up again but I'll be without a car so I might go to a brewery tour w/my Dad..time will tell (but i have to book it..lol).

Yuk!
It's already 35 here:( I went outside earlier to get the tomatoes, strawberries and cucumbers before they were burnt to a frazzle, and nearly melted! Each time I walked past the thermometer, it had risen!
Glad you're cooler Michael - you guys have had enough too...

We used to live in Western Sydney, Kristen. I remember those sorts of temps. Couldn't cope with it now, barely could back then. Never been a summer creature.

Yes, I am loving it. I was a bit disquieted by the Birchip episode from the all white townsfolk.. Also seemed a bit feudal.
Heather is so wonderful!!
