There can be unhatched weevils in the packet though, so putting it straight into Tupperware wouldn't help if that was the case. I've never done it myself, but I believe putting it in the freezer for 24 hours prevents any weevils developing...

Sally906 | 87 comments I always put it in the freezer for a day or so before putting into a container. Don't know why I do it - was words of wisdom passed to me when I first moved to Darwin.

We put potatoes in the fridge to to stop them turning to slime - no bulk potato buying for me!

message 25406: by Neko (new)

Neko Haven't seen weevils in flour for ages but i remember the one time i bought coles or woolies brand it was full of them..it was a shock and annoyance too :/

We're covered in bushfire smoke today..Can't even see over the river. Plus it's warm..I'm not sure what fire has caused this but it's pretty thick white smoke :|

message 25410: by Marianne (new)

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 9976 comments this arvo, I've been going through my pantry cupboard, checking everything for those moths & grubs. Started at the top, checked it all, wiped every container down to make sure there are no larvae all spun up in their cocoon underneath or in the crevices.

Doing really well, chucking out anything with a trace of them, and suddenly I noticed one in the lip of a plastic tub with spice jars in it: pull them all out again, check all the other tubs, and sure enough, found several more. No wonder when we think we have them all removed, a bit later they turn up again. Sneaky, they are!

Marianne, my daughter was recommended this - http://www.bunnings.com.au/moth-trap-... - by the pest people and it's absolutely amazing how it works. I saw the evidence myself and was astounded!

I use these in my pantry as we've had a moth problem in the past. They do work really well at trapping the moths and stopping the larvae!

Oh that was something different from here...And I don't think that was a burn off (I could be wrong tho)...There was something about that in the newspaper actually :) I'm way further down in Tassie.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Yesterday, I had very sporadic television reception so I called the antenna guy. When he came and checked it out, he said that the new nbn line was really strong in my area and many people are having this problem. Anyone else experience this? If it continues, I'll have to buy a $60 thingamy to reduce the nbn interference. I wonder if this is a ploy by nbn to get more people on board? Normal television is about the only thing we don't have to pay for these days:(

That's bad luck Bette...I don't like the sound of NBN - I have heard a multitude of complaints from far and wide about it...another thing that hasn't been properly thought out I think.

They're great Marianne because they catch the moths as they emerge and stop any more breeding. I keep all my flour, rice etc in sealed containers but still occasionally get them in an unopened packet of nuts or cereal so keep one in the pantry all the time.

B the BookAddict (bthebookaddict) Vale, Glenn Frey. it sounds he was a sick man towards the end so I hope he rests in peace. I'm of the age where many of my music and film legends are dying, it does not feel good.

There is light on my horizon! for a few months now I have been infested with moths that are driving me to tears. I think the original grubs snuck in through a breakfast whole grain mix I used to buy from Byron Bay. Now they are everywhere, I am killing several a day, I have camphor in all my wardrobes and cupboards and nothing seems to make a dint in the population.

Plus I do re-enactment so there is wool everywhere!

I'll go straight out to bunnings and look for this as soon as I get home!

it's a great day to get some reading done especially after being at the beach yesterday and burning a little too much and now feeling like a lobster in parts :/...

Our Woolies supermarket has them too Deborah - in the insect killing section. Good luck!

Are the pantry moths the same as the wool eating ones? It's possible the strips will only work on one type of moth.
