Lol not offended at all. I like hearing all comments, and everyone - myself included - have said the same thing! It's all good. Anyway, Deception can be ordered through any Angus and Robertson store; I'm hoping that if it builds in popularity Deception will be readily found in any bookshop. But to cut a long story short (sorry Carmel, I tend to ramble) Angus and Robertson would be able to order it for you :-)

OMG....LOL.... I saw the Lamington Lover first..... quick scramble to see what you've cooked up for me. What do I find Pavlova Princess. LMAO.

Thank you Carmel :-) Hopefully one day I'll be popular enough to do a book tour and I can sign your copy for you! Seriously though, thanks for the support

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments I think my extremely pregnant cat is due to give birth any day now... I've done all the prep work, made a box with lots of newspaper etc but knowing my luck she'll give birth under my bed :)

message 362: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 12, 2010 05:36PM) (new)

I would suggest putting lots of newspaper anywhere you don't wish her to give birth. Good luck. :)

Tracy my son showed me this. I thought of you and the pending birth of the kittens.

message 365: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 114 comments My cat decided to have her kitties in my knitting bag! I wound up so attached to them I couldn't let them go, so for a while we owned 4 cats.

message 366: by [deleted user] (new)

Awwwww, I hope your knitting wasn't too far advanced. So what did you end up doing with them? It must have been hard to separate from them kittens are so cute.

My cat is was a boy but he still tries to impregnate anything that moves in his direction. (even my kids stuffed toys.)

message 367: by Mandapanda (new)

Mandapanda That's so cute Jenny!! What a wonderful place for new kittens to live. You don't have any photos do you?

message 368: by Mandapanda (new)

Mandapanda Amazing about those miners in Chile being rescued. I didn't think they had a chance when I first read about it. I don't know if I could survive more than 2 months in a cave like that. I'm too claustrophobic!

message 369: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too, thats why I won't read Room.

message 370: by [deleted user] (new)

I may have to re-assess my rejection of Room. A friend of mine has just posted a review saying she was unable to put it down. I love those kind of books.

message 371: by Mandapanda (new)

Mandapanda I don't know about that book Gail??

message 372: by [deleted user] (new)

It reminded me of Flowers in the Attic 'Room' is a story about a boy and his mother locked in a room etc etc. I hated Flowers in the Attic and I get claustraphobic, I wasn't going to read it. I might have to give it a closer look now.

That's what I'm most worried about... I'm a sucker for kittens and Jazz is such a beautiful cat I imagine her kits are going to be gorgeous as well.

I've taken the advice about the newspaper where I don't want her to give birth - totally papered under my bed :)

message 374: by [deleted user] (new)

I good place to post that would be in the Victoria thread Carmel. To let people know what is happening in your state.

Which part of Adelaide did you live in? The best beach I've been to is Ardrossan - it's beautiful, but my old bomb of a car won't take me there :-(

Amazing yes! but still have not heard one peep about the Australian minning engineers who devised the shaft & were major contributers to the rescue of these trapped blokes.

I saw the mining guy from Perth interviewed yesterday. Can't remember on which program though. He was very down to earth and gave some interesting explanations about the equipment used.

message 378: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 114 comments I kept all three, Gail. One male eventually went to my sister. She told me he ran away, but I have my doubts. The only female, a beautiful tortise shell, ended up with cancer a year later and we had to have her put down. As for the last one and mum, both still alive and driving me nuts with their demands. The pair are over 10 now.

message 379: by Jenny (new)

Jenny | 114 comments I don't know how anyone can not get attached, Tracey. As much as I'd quite like to breed animals, perhaps in my declining years once the kids have flown the nest, I know that I'd never be able to part with the babies. I can see myself becoming a crazy cat / dog lady - though not so much of the lady. In fact, my paternal grandmother had around 100 cats when she died. Took my cousins months to get them all out of the house.

Mandapanda So annoying! Just lost all my keys! I have no idea where they are. I just went for a walk to get a couple of things from the shop and they've disappeared. I've been walking backwards and forwards along the short stretch of road but no luck.:( The locksmith has let me back in the house ($80). He's coming back later to change all my locks because I don't feel safe knowing my keys are out there ($180). I'm still waiting for a call back from the car dealership on how to get new car keys and beeper (only had the one car key) which will probably cost even more. All in all it was an expensive loaf of bread and bottle of milk!! >:(

Ashleigh (ashleigj) OMG.... the potatoes are coming to get me...
This happens frequently you see.
So I must meet once every 2 months on Pluto (which I still consider a planet no matter what anyone says) with the Elephants. I am Earth's representation! It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it.
and we're trying to get the oysters to come to our side.. The clams are trying to get them to theirs. It's a difficult life. Oh lordy....
The potatoes are upset because they learned that people eat them. But then again, if I were something like that, I'd be upset knowing someone is eating me.. Whoops.. Not a good thing to let slip.. We must be more vigilant!!!!!!

oh and the weather in Perth's quite nice.. a little windy today as yesterday and the day before.. but still warmish... I want Summer god-damnit.. bring on the hot weather. Whooooooooooooooooo*breath*ooooo

Jan (auntyjan) I'm the three second finder in my family. Someone loses something, and I can usually find it or tell them where it is in 3 seconds.
Do you use a handbag, Mandy? If it's a decent one, the keys should have stayed in the whole time. If you don't have one, you need deeper pockets.

message 385: by [deleted user] (new)

Ashlieh was obviously bored and was providing us with some light relief. Don't let these guys put you off Ash.

Sorry to here about your key troubles Mandy. Cost more than to replace your kindle.

The AUD/USD exchange rate hit parody yesterday. Go the Aussie dollar.

message 387: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh bugger, maybe you should open a USD account and hold onto it for a while. You wouldn't get much in the way of interest though.

Mandapanda Very HAPPY this morning! One of my neighbours found my keys. Not before I had the door locks changed but they were getting really old anyway so I don't care. The thing I was really worried about was getting a new car key. They said it would cost $500 plus because they would have to put a new computer in the car (who knew there was a computer chip in that little black plastic cap on your car key???). So now I don't have spend all that money. YAY!!

Mandapanda For all the Catholics and theology fans in the group, Australia gets it's first saint today, Mother Mary McKillop.

There is television coverage on the ABC:

6pm AEDT - NEWS SPECIAL – THE CANONISATION OF MARY MCKILLOP
A special two-hour program: live coverage of the canonisation of Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first Catholic saint. ABC News 24 will broadcast the ceremony conducted by Pope Benedict live from the Vatican. The news special will also include live crosses to the ABC’s Europe Correspondent Philip Williams in Rome, as well as to reporters around Australia where revellers will gather to join in the celebrations. These sites include: St Mary’s Cathedral, Sydney; Mary MacKillop Chapel, North Sydney; significant sites in Penola, South Australia; the Exhibition Centre, Melbourne; and St Francis Xavier’s Cathedral, Adelaide.

Mary even has her own website!: http://www.marymackillop.org.au/

There's a live webcast from 5pm on this site: http://www.marymackillop.org.au/canon...

Plus ABC Radio National will have audio coverage.

LOL!

Mandy: very glad your keys were found.. I've never lost my keys thank god, but I do get worried about it!!

As for the first part of my comment: It's true. I go to Pluto. I'll take pictures next time...

wonderful for you, Mandy. I guess you will keep an eagle eye on your keys in future. After losing my car keys on the beach and luckily found a few hours later by a friend - my name was on them - and after phoning my husband and him having to bring the spare key in, I always take my handbag with me and put my keys in it. A shoulder handbag is a lot harder to lose than a set of car keys. Laurel

Australia's first Saint is being canonized in the vatican tonight. I'm not a believer in Saints myself, but it is still worth a mention.

Mandy, call your locksmith about getting another car key made, especially if you plan to keep the car for a while. It could save you all kinds of bother if you lose your keys again, or if the existing one suddenly starts pining for the fjords. One key with an older car is inconvenient - one key with more modern ones with computerised security can be utterly diabolical, as you've already seen.

message 395: by Mandapanda (new)

MMMM $500 sounds a rort. A new key of that type is around $100 and the mfr has the code to configure the key to the car, which the dealer does for you. Be careful next time, Mandy. I'm talking about Holden. Maybe you have a Lambo or Ferrari?

message 398: by Mark (new)

Mark (valiukas) Justin wrote: "MMMM $500 sounds a rort"

Maybe, maybe not.

Configuring a new key to the car the cheap and easy way requires at least one existing key (sometimes two), and the slightly-less-easy way with some cars requires also connecting a service tool to the diagnostics port. Different cars, different methods - with some, if you've got both originals, you can even order blanks on ebay that you can have the hardware store cut for you, and then go through a special secret "dealer only" sequence you can usually find on the internet to get the car to recognise the new ones.

It's when you don't have any keys that things can get interesting and expensive... and rightly so, most of the time, as it's meant to make it more difficult for The Bad Guys - that's the price you pay for having a car that's more difficult to steal, I'm afraid. It's still sad when real owners get caught in the crossfire, though, and I'm glad Mandy got her keys back.

message 399: by [deleted user] (new)

Recently had our key's done with new batteries & re-configuration for the Statesman & cost about $90 each.

message 400: by Mark (new)

Mark (valiukas) David wrote: "Recently had our key's done with new batteries & re-configuration for the Statesman & cost about $90 each."

Kind of makes me glad my car's best security features are its age, the club lock and the interesting patterns where one of the local drunken teens splashed brake fluid over it when they broke in but couldn't do anything with it because the starter was on the fritz at the time.

"I don't care that you can start a Camira with a screwdriver, I wouldn't be caught dead joyriding in that" is great for making sure it's right where I parked it whenever I need it.
