Brad (judekyle) | 1607 comments This November we will be doing two books by L.E. Modesitt Jr. -- one Fantasy & one Sci-Fi. Modesitt himself will be taking part in both discussions after one of our members, Lynn -- a friend of Modesitt's -- put us in contact with him.

We will be putting up our L.E. Modesitt Jr. polls in a couple of weeks, which should give us all plenty of time to find and read the books we choose for discussion.

It's a big month for if you are a Modesitt fan, and the perfect time to start reading Modesitt if you've always meant to and never started. And if November is a success...who knows...we may be able to persuade other authors who span our two favourite genres to join us too.

Jon (jonmoss) | 889 comments Awesome! It will give me a chance to read some of his non-fantasy work. And I hope to contribute to the fantasy discussions, since I've read most everything he's published there.

Looking forward to it!

stormhawk | 418 comments I've never read him either. I enjoy finding new (to me) authors, so this should be a great opportunity.

I'd never heard of him before, nor read any of his books. After looking at his wiki, good lord, 56 books? Hmmm, a lot of interesting stuff he's written.

Must say I'm now looking forward to getting into his books

Vicky (vickydea) | 13 comments I really like Modesitt as a SciFi writer, but I never really got into his fantasy stuff. I got to hear him read a bit of a then unpublished book at a convention in Salt Lake and I remember liking the sound of it. Unfortunately I don't remember the title! But I look forward to hearing about more of his books.

Deedee | 73 comments Cool -- I've had The Magic of Recluce on my TBR list ever since it first came out in the 1990's. It's the first one of L.E. Modesitt Jr.'s fantasy series "The Saga of Recluce".

Brad (judekyle) | 1607 comments We have our books L.E. Modesitt Jr. books for November everyone.

Sci-Fi: Haze
Fantasy: The Magic of Recluce

I hope we have a great turnout for the talks with Modesitt. It should be a month of excellent discussion.

Cindy (newtomato) | 121 comments Awesome! Sounds like a fun month!

message 9: by Sandra (new)

Sandra (sleo) I've never read him. The two selections are lined up in my Nook so I'll be ready to go. It's always interesting when the author participates.

Paul (vialupez) | 34 comments Never read any of his books but just ordered HAZE to get back into the group discussions again. Having the author included as well should be interesting

I re-read the first ten chapters today. It's flying by and I'm taking notes in the digital version. :D
