MG (sabot66) | 2 comments As you are aware of, your books are held in the highest regards by members of the US Military.

"Gates of Fire" was recommended to me by an Infantry Captain (I'm an Armor Sergeant First Class) during our second tour in Iraq. I was so moved, I went out and purchased several of the Mass Market Paperback editions for my own Soldiers. They all devoured it. It was exciting to watch them read it together and see them grow tighter as a team by sharing a common point of reference. The discussions in the chow hall concerning the agoge and compulsory service to the State were epic, to say the least. They even did a side-by-side comparison between Spartan society and the future society in Robet Heinlien's Starship Troopers. (another Amazon Mass Purchase).

My question is: will you consider writing a book on the current conflict in Iraq?

Annette | 1 comments I hope he knows this too. I gave "Gates of Fire" to my husband to read years ago (when we were dating). He's a Captain too and I know recommended it to his unit while they were in Iraq too. I know this because I was the one tasked to purchase 57 copies and get them mailed over there!

MG (sabot66) | 2 comments I was looking at his web page. I guess he knows Gates of Fire was boffo in MNF-W (2004)!

I wish I would have heard of it back in 2004, instead of later in 2007. In eighteen months, I have already read the book several times (most recently the Kindle version).

Thanks, MG and Annette. I'm tremendously humbled by the hugely positive response to my books, particularly "Gates of Fire" and "The Afghan Campaign" by troopers serving in harm's way for our country. That's kind of the ultimate test for this type of book. I'm honored that my stuff strikes a chord and seems to help a little.

As for writing about the current war in Iraq, I'm not exactly doing that, but my newest project, the one I'm working on right now (I'm too superstitious to say too much about it) definitely zigs and zags within that arena. I think we might put a couple of rounds on the target before it's over. We'll see!
