Beyond Reality discussion

I want to point you all towards a really cool new...concept? Story? Website? if you haven't heard about it already.

A bunch of authors, including Neal Stephenson and Greg Bear, are starting this online project called the Mongoliad. It's going to be a serial story, but it looks like it's going to be much more than that. Hard to describe, so just check it out here:

I dunno. I am kinda torn here. On one hand I think its a cool idea. On the other hand,I feel like a luddite, but I cant see why they feel the need to update a book. Its pretty simple, a bunch of words tied togather to give us a story.
These days authors keep trying out do themselves but they seem to be forgeting the one simple fact.
Write a good book.

It'll definitely only work if the story is good. So far, I liked the prologue, so it's a promising start...

I really enjoyed all the Thieves' World books, which were also collaborative, if in a different way. I will need to check out the story.
