October - What are you reading?

I am almost always listening to an audio book, and I'm currently almost through with Divine Misdemeanors by Laurell K. Hamilton and about half way into Body Double by Tess Gerritsen. I was supposed to read that one last month for the group read, but just didn't get to it. You think I could handle a one book challenge.. shez!

How are you liking the Divine Misdemeanors narrator Vanessa?

I've been wanting to read this! I will have to move it up in my TBR pile!

Hey Caroline,
Actually she's pretty good. The voice of Merry is excellent. The men are always hard, but she does a pretty good job there too, especially since there seem to be so many of them. She does the sex scenes in the appropriate raspy voice, and the creatures, being easier to differentiate, are as good as I think anyone could do.
I would definitely recommend the audio if you don't mind the book going at a slower pace. I sometimes listen and read the book at the same time, going back and forth depending on my mood or to change the flow of the book. She's a good reader, though, better than a lot of others.

Oh please do, Megan! Just note that it is PG-13...but the story and the characters are amazing! Even the minor characters had some quotes that brought tears to my eyes.

although Phury isn't my favorite Brother, his book is the best story in my opinion

I think it's because the book isn't all romance and sex. Ward deals honestly with a subject most would not acknowledge unless they were forced. I think she did a good job with it which is why it's my favorite

Thanks Vanessa, I know her Merdith Gentry narrator is great. Just wondering about the Anita one. Thanks.

It looks like I need to retract what I said, Devil in Winter is the one that is my favorite. I don't know what I was thinking, I confused the two. Scandal is actually the first I read in the series but there is something about Devil in Winter that is pretty special. "
Oh, well. I guess I'll continue to be the oddball who didn't care for DIW. LOL!:-)

Me and you, Julie! I didn't care for it either.

Weird hero, huh? But hot:-)
Just finished

Yay! I'm not alone after all.;-)
Actually, I've run across a few people who didn't like the book that well, but usually not for the same reasons I didn't. The much-lauded Sebastian just didn't do much for me. D.G., was it St. Vinnie you didn't like or something else?

I know! I was going to preorder it but Amazon doesn't have it listed and even her website doesn't have a link! I'm afraid I'll forget :(

oh,

About to start Alyssa Day's

Lol Yz:-) Finished Kill and Tell earlier tonight:-) It was my fave of the John Medina books, although the first hero/heroine encounter disturbed me a little bit, lol... Did you enjoy it?

"
I finished it this morning and I enjoyed it.
However, there was just something too slick about the way Marc handled their first sexual encounter. Somehow it disturbed me. Sure, he turned out all right throughout the rest of the story, but if that evening was not sexual manipulation at its best, what isn't?

After reading that one, I read

He didn't do it for me, either. What happened with Westcliff seemed to out of left field for me (I guess Kleypas wanted to show what a baaaaaaaad guy he was.) Then I remember not being all that impressed with Evie either. ;)
But I'll read it again because I'm planning on a Kleypas challenge (I plan to read all her books (the ones that I can get at least) in chronological order. :) Maybe I'll think differently then!

I just finished
