Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

I really liked it -- it was funny, sexy, and I enjoyed the H/h very much. Bump it up a bit, it's worth reading!

I have One Dance with a Duke on the way...if I'll get it on time, I'll read it for the monthly challenges. :)

I'm almost halfway through , and it's great! I'll certainly be buying and as soon as they come out. Love this series!

I finished it was another light good read from Lynsay Sands and by Christine Feehan and I have just started the next book in the argeneau series.

Just finished The Secret Adversary. Good book. I'm working my way through the Agatha Christie books, one a month. Beginning to end.

Finished and it was excellent!! Started .

So far this weekend I've finished , started and bailed on (blech - there's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back) and started - I'm really looking forward to reading this one.

@ Tammy - I hadn't read that one, but I never finished the Time Travelers Wife - I just couldn't get into it, so I was in no rush to read any more of hers...

Hi Dee - I should have known better with Symmetry (I detested The Time Traveller's Wife and never finished it, either).

Years is one of LaVyrle Spencer's best ones (and one of my favourites) - hope you like it!

I've read years before...I love LaVyrle Spencer's books - she is a total comfort read for me, but its been years since i've read this one - I bought a book of them on ebay a while back and been reading/savoring them...oh why did she have to retire!

Finished Talk Me Down and loved it. Since I've already read Start Me Up, I'll move onto Lead Me On as soon as possible.

Currently reading . It is paranormal historical fiction set at the start of WWII. I am quite enjoying it!

Just finished Jude Deveraux's First Impressions. First time I've read this author and I gotta say I struggled with this one. I probably would have abandoned it if I wasn't reading it for the monthly challenge. It picked up slightly in the last few chapters but not enough for me to want to rush out and buy another of her books.

Currently reading and . Am enjoying them both very much.

I feel exactly the same, Dee. My absolute favourites of hers are Hummingbird, Twice Loved and Morning Glory.

i liked Twice Loved, but I think my all time favorite is The Gamble

I used to like Jude Deveraux, but she just kept going down hill...she should have quit while she was ahead

To all the LaVyrle Spencer lovers out there -
I was browsing the Friends of the Library bookroom recently and found a paperback copy of her last book Then Came Heaven, and she has an inscription on the first page, in which she says she's grateful that so many have expressed a hope that she'll write again, but she's having so much fun in retirement that she just doesn't see that happening. She thanked everybody for their years of support for her books, and for the many letters she's received since she retired. And then she says, "My heart is full. My life is happy."

I thought that was classy

I just finished , and it was just what its name promised... It made me laugh, made me cry, and I can't believe I was so reluctant to read Judith McNaught's books after WML! This one is now one of my fave HRs:-) Amazing!

Judith McNaught is just great!!! Although I haven't read Something Wonderful, I should definitely check it out!

Finished and although I loved the hero Sydnam this book wasn't as good as . I can't wait to read the last two in the series. I'm about halfway through and plan on reading next!!

I think Then Came Heaven was one of the first ones by her that I read and then I went back and did her entire backlist...I don't think I ran into a book by her that I didn't like

@ Dee -- I started reading LaVyrle Spencer back in the 80s - ended up stealing all of my mom's paperbacks (she replaced them with hardcovers, lol). I like her historicals MUCH better than her contemporaries. The contemps haven't aged real well, and I thought she had a much better voice for the historicals.

You're so right about her being a comfort read -- I've about worn out some of my paperbacks!

I've only read a couple of her contemps - separate beds and spring fancy...but its always interesting reading contemps that were written in the 80's - like Linda Howard's Sarah's Child...where being in your 30's and having kids was considered high risk...

Oh, I liked Separate Beds! I've got Spring Fancy as well, that one had the groomsman named Winn, I think.

I was in high school in the mid-80s, so those descriptions of clothing, and especially the decorating make me cringe. Maybe that's why I liked the historicals better.

Sweet Memories is another contemp of hers that is worth reading. The heroine has breast reduction surgery (I know, sounds strange, but it's a wonderful story).

I am reading ....it is the 4th in the seducer series from Madeline Hunter. Not as good as her other series, but I am pushing through it.

Vicki, you should definitely get this one! It really is a beautiful story!

I absolutely loved it too. It is just about my favorite of Judith Mcnaught's books. Almost Heaven is wonderful too and all of her historicals are better than anything else I've read in Historical Romance. Somehow you FEEL it. Too good. Read them all.

I finished this was a very funny read and another fab book by Philippa Gregory. I have just started I have read some good reviews about this book and think its somthing I will enjoy.

that's the one with the guy in the AF - her brothers best friend - right? I've read that one...I could symphathize with a lot of what she went through, minus the surgery, because I feel like that...

Yup, that was it. That was the first LaVyrle Spencer I ever read. She definitely had a unique voice.

Will do. I was a little hesitant to pick it up because the reviews here weren't very good, even from LH fans.

You mean Nobody's Baby But Mine isn't on your list of faves of SEP? That one is just my favorite.
