If you want to, here's the place to introduce yourself, say "Hi", reminisce your other 80's memories, etc.!!

Hi, I'm Sheri! I'm a Stay-At-Home Mom of 2 young boys and I live in the northeastern part of Ohio. I've always loved to read (a variety of genres), and try to read as much as possible, but that can be a little challenging at times as it has to revolve around the family schedule! I graduated in 1989, so I am definitely a full-spectrum 80's kid!!! I got to experience scratch-n-sniff and puffy stickers, Care Bears and My Little Ponies, Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary books, Trapper Keepers and troll pencil toppers, leg warmers, jelly shoes and Swatch watches, watching Punky Brewster, Alf, Little House on the Prarie, ABC After School Specials and Growing Pains on my non-remote controlled T.V.and was a Hair Band fan!!!!

Amy B (amydawn96) Hi, I'm Amy. I'm a middle school teacher and I have two children, ages 3 and 5. I love to read and will read just about anything except horror (I'm a weenie). My love of reading truly began in the 5th grade. I had a wonderful teacher who read aloud to us and I fell in love with the written word. I love young adult books also. I read them and put them on my classroom bookshelf (if appropriate).

Debi (debjm51) Hi My Name is Debi, I live in BC. Canada for now. But originally born and raise in the U.S.A. :D!! My job is a long story so will just say I work at home. :D!!
I have 3 grown kids and 7 grandkids. They all live in the States and I will be moving back there in 3 yrs. or so..saving up some money for the move..etc. :D!!

I started reading Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys in the 60's and now have a love for mysteries and romance suspense books. But I do read different genre's of books!! I have read V.C. Andrews but as an adult. I am planing on reading some more of her books. And going to pick up a few more YA's in the future to read..smiles. I am not much on YA books but I do have my favorites I wouldn't mind re-reading and to give a chance and see how I like them. I don't say no to a genre of books just because of one or two I might not like, because I feel I might be missing out of a really good book I might just love. :D!!! The only time I will say No if the subject disturbs me to much to read it!!! :D!!

Kayla | 2 comments I'm Kayla.
I'm 20 and I've been reading VC Andrews books religiously for almost 10 years. The first and one of my favorite series was the DeBeers series, but I wasn't familar with the series at all and I accidentally read the last book first.. :) Then I read Flowers in the Attic and followed through with almost all the others.

Taylor Spencer | 1 comments Hello, My name is Taylor and I have lived in Utah my whole life. I actually just turned 17 so I can't honestly say I loved reading the books in the 70's and 80's. But I am a huge fan of literature from this time period, mostly V.C. Andrews (I have all but like 23 of them). I have been reading since I was 4 and haven't put a book down since. I really don't like the YA books of my time and I am so glad I have older books to fall back on when I get tired of vampire romance novels!

Kayla | 2 comments Favorite VC Andrews book and/or series?

message 8: by Amy B (new)

Amy B (amydawn96) Its been years since I've read VC Andrews. But I remember loving My Sweet Audrina. Plan to get them for my Kindle eventually...right now I only have Flowers in the Attic downloaded.

Taylor...I loved your comment about having older books to fall back on. I'm 33 years old but I love to read YA but I also find all the vampire/immortal/alien-type romance getting old. Please share the books that you've read or like to read.

Ellie M (elliemcc11) Hi, I'm Ellie and from England.

As a child of the 80s I introduced my classmates to Forever by Judy Blume. Never has a book been so loaned out in one school year. And since, the name Ralph has always made me smirk!

I read quite a few of the Sweet Valley books - I wanted to go to see an American high school after reading them; that and watching things like Degrassi Junior High (which I think is Canadian).

Over in the UK apart from Judy Blume, Sweet Valley and Nancy Drew we were also reading Enid Blyton's boarding school series.

I still love reading books set in school or to do with teens growing up. I haven't really got into the Vampire thing (apart from True Blood but that is an amazing TV series!) so can't make any recommendations on that score.

Pages OMG I just saw this article about SVH Lol

I adored SVH but always pretty much hated Elizabeth and I re-read them as a grown up and wow- they seem pretty bad but a lovely guilty pleasure. This article is about SV ghost writer who studied at Oxford.

Pages Hi, I didn't introduce myself above. My name is Farrah obviously. From the UK. I remember my junior 4 teacher raising her eyebrows disapprovingly at my reading Deenie! She wanted to know if my mother knew! Lol I said err yes, she bought it for me hehe.

I am crazy in love with young adult fiction. Quite possibly I have never grown up and out of it. There's something very comforting about reading YA. Quick thoughts- I will always love SVH no matter how ridiculous they are! VC Andrews enthralled me. And I was always a big fan of Patrick the rubbish guy in cheerleaders - till he got together with Jessica (?). In my twisted head I always wanted him to be pining over Mary whatsits. To this day I remember Olivia tipping her head forward to brush her hair vigorously and thinking huh?? :)

message 17: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleywilliams75) Hi, I'm Ashley and I loved Christopher Pike! Read all the superfudge books and was pretty much an 80's kid!

message 18: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 4 comments Hi! I'm Jennifer and I've lived in Texas my whole life. My love of reading starting about the third grade. Almost all of the books I remember from early childhood started there. I want to say that was the year I started reading Judy Blume books. My most vivid memory about that was when I wanted to check out Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret... from the school library and the librarian talking to my mom about it. Ironically, the same thing sort of happened with Forever a few years later (although I'd already read it by then!)

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather Holland | 1 comments My name is Heather. I'm 37. I loved to read Cheerleaders series in the 80's. I need jut one from the series the last one. I also read hardy boys, and R. L. Stine, nancy drew.

message 20: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (sscarllet) | 3 comments Hi I'm Kathryn. I'm a former east coaster that lives in London now. I've always loved reading and have a lot of trouble giving up books as I do reread them. Recently I've been incredibly book nostalgic. The bulk of my book collection currently resides in my parents basement in the US making this a really big issue.

As a young adult/teenager I was a V.C. Andrewsdevote, I loved R.L. Stine, Christopher Pike, and loads of others. Did anyone else read Lurlene McDaniel?

What a good idea for a group!

message 22: by Liz (new)

Liz Smegelsky | 2 comments Hi,my name is Liz and I'm a YAaholic. It all began when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade when I checked out my first SVH book from the library, and I have been hooked ever since. I loved (and still love) YA books from the 80's and early 90's. I read current YA books too, but I dislike the paranormal vampire/werewolf/ and scifi books. Is there anyone out there??? :D

message 23: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Fenn (sammifenn) | 1 comments Hi guys I'm sammy, I'm a 32 year old mother of three girls of my own and I'm already passing on these books to my 10 year old. I grew up on a hardcore BSC then Sweet valley High diet and still count the Caroline B. Cooney and Judy Blume books as my absolute most favourite!

Also huge on Christopher Pike, John Marsden and all of the old R.L stone and Point Horror books. I have 10 titles published as an adult author but 2 YA novels in a series under the name Samantha Fenn and I try to stick close to the genres of old when it comes to writing them :)

message 26: by Lacy (new)

Lacy Lovelace | 1 comments Hello! I joined the group because I have a passion for the 1980s/1990s and I love being able to reminisce about the things I held dear in my childhood. Fear Street was a series that really brings me back to a more carefree time! I loved those books and look forward to reading them after I collect all of them (mom gave my originals away!) I also really loved the Boxcar Children...they introduced me to one of my favorite genres, mysteries.

message 27: by Louie (new)

Louie Hi, I'm Louie, a teenage guy who already loves The Nancy Drew Files, The Babysitter Club Series, The Girls Of Canby Hall Series, The Junior High Series and The Anastasia Krupnik Series. I joined this group because of my love of those series and because of my wanting to read more classic 80's Teen books and authors, Such as The Sweet Valley High Series, Cheerleaders Series, and books by Lois Duncan, Jean Lowery Nixon, and Caroline B Cooney.

Desiree Craig | 1 comments Hi everyone,

I am a 38 yr old lover of all the wonderful nostalgic books of my youth. I am still trying to collect the entire Sweet Valley High Series and read them in order since 5th grade (how sad right that I have never finished the series) I am happy to be a part of this group and to discuss the books we all know and love!

message 29: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie | 1 comments I am a librarian and had someone donate the first 20 Sweet Valley High books to our library. After thinking about it for half a second, I put the books on the shelf. I'm hoping a new generation of kids will enjoy them as much as I did.
