Sarah | 13814 comments Any accent? Or particular ones?
'Cause we've got a lot of midwestern guys here who are waiting to hear that you think they say things all sexy-like.

message 8: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments No, no. Not all midwesterners. Just upper midwesterners. We're the sexy-voiced ones.

message 9: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Southern like Georgia gentry, or southern like a Dallas oilman?

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Barb, I'm having fun quizzing you. I hope you don't mind. I understand the appeal of accents.

message 11: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments dang

message 12: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Got it.
I'm not a fan of the broad Texan accent - I associate it with a lot of cheek pinching from when I was a kid.
But my cousins from Atlanta have lovely accents.

And I'm partial to the range of South African accents myself.

As opposed to scattering it all over the place?

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Britt wrote: "I like men who have their shit together."

In what way?

message 17: by Brittomart (last edited Oct 12, 2010 11:46AM) (new)

Brittomart Well, it's just some people look for a relationship because they're lonely or they feel that finding someone will solve everything that is wrong about their life, and that puts a lot of pressure on their potential partner because they're not going to fix everything.

So I like it when a man is actually content with his life, and he feels that things are going pretty well for him financially, emotionally, maybe physically. Definitely intellectually. If he's happy with his life, then that happiness can spread to someone else's life as well. I'm already miserable enough; I don't need someone who is as bitter as I am.

In other words, a man who thinks, "I want a relationship because I want to be happy with someone else." Not just "I want a relationship because I need someone to make me happy."

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments A guy who is good at what he does is a huge turn on, especially if he's also got a good sense of humor.
Tall is good, too. :)

message 21: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I like it when a guy is kinda out of shape.

message 22: by Stacia (the 2010 club) (last edited Oct 12, 2010 10:30PM) (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) I like an earth stopping smile. Like the "gets you weak in the knees" smile.

Unfortunately, no one in real life ever does those. Darn the movies for putting such notions in my head.

So...back to reality.

Physical :

It varies. I've dated several different races of men, of all different heights. When I was younger, I preferred the very lean, less muscular frames, but now I'm married to someone that has a few extra pounds on him, so that's been thrown out the window.

Nowadays, I am more attracted to dark hair and taller men that are a little bit broad but not necessarily bulky, although I can appreciate beauty when it's staring me in the face, even if it's not what I'd normally consider attractive.

Personality :

Someone that "gets" me. An appreciation for snarky humor is a must. You don't have to "be" funny, but you have to "understand" funny.

Repeating from the other thread - I like silly cockiness. Straight out arrogance is a turn-off, but confidence and that playful "I know you want me" attitude has always been a huge turn on.

Someone that will go out at 10 at night to get me Starbucks - YAY! I have that!

ms.petra (mspetra) in no particular order..... eyes that can look right into your soul.
a smile and sense of humor. common sense! smart but doesn't feel he needs to prove it to me. sarcastic. a sense of adventure. knows the difference between a phillips and a standard. knows what a RYOBI is. playful. will cook me dinner and rub my feet. has an opinion and not afraid to discuss/challenge/argue with me and then be over it and take me to bed (or wherever)

message 24: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I HATE the Daleks' voice.

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

I like all those things Petra mentions but I also have to include -- I love a good hug. (No, I am not using a euphemism here.)

Sarah | 13814 comments Sing to me like a Dalek just totally cracked me up.

message 27: by Heather (last edited Oct 13, 2010 08:38AM) (new)

Heather (heatherjoy) | 384 comments I like crooked , almost bashful smiles, and I love it when I guy works my name into conversation.
Ex:"Heather, you wouldn't believe...". Something about hearing a man you're attracted to say your name sends a little thrill thru you.

And I like a snyd sense of humor, goofy humor grates after a while.

message 36: by Joanne (new)

Joanne (bonfiggi) A liberal, but not a knee jerk one. He has to be aware, and pay attention, to me and the world around him. Of course, at my age, it also helps if he's breathing.

message 37: by Félix (last edited Oct 13, 2010 01:06PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) I think that saying "knee jerk" is such a knee jerk reaction.
