Nicole Fox | 1 comments I have a book shopping obsession. Just ask the people who have helped me move.
I love the clearance section both online and in-store at Books-a-Million.
I also love buying boxes of boxes offered on E-bay.
I give away about half of my boxes to 1/2 price books stores.

Athena Ivashkova ~♥~ I'm a saver, so no bookstores or any kindle or nook or stuff like that. Just my library; which is great because they have the most awesome books, and oif you request a book, they come 1-3 days later, maybe even less :)

Kimberly Souza (passionateaboutbooks) Hi everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I have a new review site at www.kimsbooklife.blogspot.com and I would love to have you stop by. Thanks and happy reading.

message 54: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephieja) I buy most of my eBooks through Amazon, but ONLY eBooks. I won't buy a hard copy of a book from Amazon or B&N because their shipping/handling fees are astronomical. The one time I did buy a Hard copy of a book from Amazon (Stephen King's UR) the book itself was $14.99, but the shipping was $5.61. And that was just STANDARD shipping! That's damn near a 3rd of the book prie. That's just nuts! So I'll just stick to downloading my eBook from Amazon and Bying my hard copies from bookstores!

message 55: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Rose | 2 comments I'm a huge fan of the library, but sometimes I can pick up really good book deals or freebies from Amazon. If there's a book someone recommended that I just *have* to read, I usually pick it up at Barnes and Noble.

I've never thought of looking for books on ebay before.. fantastic idea!

message 56: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Young | 2 comments I love shopping for books. Can't help it :) I do try and go to the library as often as I can, though. I prefer having the book in my hands over reading it online.

Amber .:★Wild Heart Reviews★:. (amberlu) | 7 comments I'm not sure where to ask this, so I'm asking here. It's not so much where do you find your books, but where do you find a particular book when you've looked all over the place.

I can't remember the title, or the author. Just parts of it. I read it back in High School, so it's been a good long while. (10 years now) So I'm hunting it down because I read and reread it back then. I'm curious to know why now and if it was as good as I thought it was at the time.

Where would you look? Any advice!?

message 58: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer | 7 comments I usually order online, library, and I belong to a book club. I love getting the packages in the mail. Now my husband on the other hand just grumbles about running out of room. ;) lol

Questian (sakurastrife) | 457 comments Booksale in the philippines since i'm living in the philippines... hehehehehe also in a place called Recto,in Downtown Manila..

message 60: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 2 comments Regarding finding a forgotten title, on Amazon there are discussions where you can post the info you have and post it and then hope somebody remembers the title. Any info you have post it and see if we "goodread" readers can help. Is there something like that here? Good luck!

message 61: by Ashley (new)

Questian (sakurastrife) | 457 comments me? E-bay.... dont have Amazon in the Philippines. the shipping fee would be expensive....

Tania | 215 comments I have a number of places I get my books as I like paperbacks. For older books I cant seem to buy, I hit the charity shops and have found some books I didnt know authors had written. For new books theres Amazon, Waterstones and WH Smith here in the UK and a new site I just found which appears to be cheaper than Amazon and FEE CARRIAGE almost world wide www.bookdepository.co.uk and they seem to have some of the older books the other place no longer carry

message 64: by Sandra J (new)

Sandra J Weaver (sandraweaver) | 366 comments I'll buy PBs that I want whenever and wherever I see them, including Target and the grocery store. That said, the first place I go for a newly released book is my local indie bookseller. I've patronized this store for at least 20 years. There's a good selection of romance and sci-fi/fantasy, and the owner is always willing to order anything I might want that he doesn't carry. For used books, there's a terrific UBS not far from me, and I've had a lot of success finding interesting (and cheap!) books at thrift stores.

message 65: by Sheena (new)

Sheena Binkley | 6 comments I usually go to Amazon and B&N for my books. I also use Overdrive to borrow ebooks from the library.

message 66: by A.C. (new)

A.C. Kavich (ackavich) I'm all for the ebook revolution, but I still love buying physical books as well.

I'm not sure why, but there's something especially satisfying about finding an intriguing book at a garage sale. It's almost like it has a bit of history associated with it.

message 67: by chasey (new)

chasey (chaseyro) | 21 comments I usually go to my local library in westchester county, ny. they have a little store where i can buy paperbacks for 20 cents or 3 for a dollar. Hardcovers for a $1.oo.

Lizzie (lizzierw) | 7 comments Mostly online in amazon or at the Waterstones shop

message 69: by Tania (new)

Tania | 215 comments I have taken to going to charity shops the last few months and am finding books that are fairly new out their and in good condition alot looking like they have not been read and its cheap. An other good place is church fetes then you seem to be able to get hole sets of books.

message 70: by Dedra (new)

Dedra Cady | 33 comments I get some of my romance books on ebay. I also get them at wal-mart if they are cheap enough. I have gotten a few for $5 or less. I also use my online public library for some reads.

message 72: by Ari (new)

Ari (aristotlelovesbooks) I get mine from where I can find them. I love to purchase books, but I'm not rich, so I also visit the library (a lot--they know me on sight--I have over 20 books on request now). When I can find them online, fantastic. Otherwise, I'm blessed to sometimes have friends send me over some books.

Genevieve Gannon | 2 comments Vicki, have you considered getting into eBooks? There are SO many wonderful free ones, and those that aren't free are far cheaper than print editions. (Not that that's the only reason - but if you're reading high volumes, it helps!) You don't need a kindle! You can buy ebooks on your smartphone (playbooks or ibooks) or download a kindle app for your computer. I resisted eBooks at first because I'm old-fashioned, but now I'm addicted! I can read on crowded trains and whip out my phone and start reading wherever I am! It's addictive.

Elizabeth | 212 comments Places I go to find paperback and hardback books are Walmart,Sam's Club,Books A Million,Target. Website are. For kindle books it's Amazon, eReader ( they have tones of kindle books that are for free for a limited time) link is :http://new.ereaderiq.com/freebies/
For kindle I mostly got to eReader.
Barns &Noble, Bookshout,IBooks. And I also order paperbacks and hardbacks from
Edward R Hamilton Bookseller ( they sell books, music and movies) ( their prices are great at lest I think so) link is :http://www.hamiltonbook.com

✰♊ Angie ♊✰ | 3 comments Does anyone else use BookBub? I love it. Mostly I use my local library and their OverDrive system. Also, Amazon(kindle). But, if I want to own and keep the book, I'll look at Half-Price Books. I rarely check the local thrift stores, but I really should keep them in mind because I did score the Harry Potter series boxed set for my son at a local thrift store for $5 a couple of years ago.

Mahyar (themaninthegrayflannelsuit) | 80 comments I use amazon for Kindle editions and sometimes I have them delivered to my house. I recently moved to turkey, there are only two popular branch bookstores with English books, one of them is called Remzi, one of them is D&R (which seems to be really popular) Once though, I found this Cafe with lots of secondhand books, I picked up as many as I could when the authors' named looked familiar.

message 79: by SweetSue (new)

SweetSue | 3 comments I'm trying to stick with the library - I find ours actually has a pretty good selection. We also have a great used bookstore in town that takes trade-ins, so I can take in a few and get at least a couple back in trade. I like the idea of booksfree, but I'm a fast reader and have a lot of time to read now, so I need a good reliable instant source. LOL Someone else mentioned recommending books to the library. I do that also. They don't always buy what I recommend (and that whole process does take awhile) but it does help make sure they get the latest book in a good series.

message 80: by Rebekah (new)

Rebekah (hawkgirl4077) | 8 comments Check to see if your library has inter-library loan. Also if you have a e-reader they often have overdrive, which allows you to borrow ebooks.

Look for used book stores in your area, because of amazon they are getting fewer and further in between but I know that I have two really close to me (in Berks County PA) that are great.

message 81: by Grace (new)

Grace McCabe (grace_mccabe) | 8 comments I've had good luck buying books cheap at garage and estate sales. We tend to hit the ones in neighborhoods with more affluent folks with college degrees, as they tend to have more of the books I'm looking for. But often I can buy paperbacks for $.50 or less at these sales, especially on the last day of the sale.

message 82: by Levi (new)

Levi Underhill | 3 comments I've seen so many posts like this. Really for me, I just found it smart to create a spreadsheet of all the books I've read and a short summary. Most of these books I purchased online so I have an okay Idea as to how many people actually recommended these books as well.

1. Look Again by Lisa Scottoline : http://amzn.to/1YXBNax

This book portrayed a mother's love regardless of how you became a parent. Not only that, it had you asking yourself, would you, could you, make that call? There is a real emotional pull between doing what is right and NEVER wanting to give away your own child. I think that the way she goes about finding out the truth is a very real look at not wanting to show all your cards until you absolutely have to.

2. 15th Affair by James Patterson : http://amzn.to/1YXCbWk

I love reading James Patterson's book; but I especially love and enjoy the Woman's Murder Club series. A cop, a medical examiner, a reporter and a prosecutor make up the club, and when they get together, look out! This book was special. Can Boxer trust her husband. He was missing for over a week, and Boxer finds out he has lied to her. I don't want to reveal too much, but this book kept me turning pages all day. Yep, I could not stop reading it and read it one day. I highly recommend it.

3. The City of Mirrors: A Novel by Justin Cronin : http://amzn.to/1YXBUmk

Really loved this trilogy - will make an excellent film if they ever get around to making it!!! I only wish I had been able to read these books consecutively without waiting for a few years between each one. It was a little difficult to catch up on things and remember where the story I had left off. Although, I will say this one was easier to jump into than the leap from the first book to the second.

4. The Last Mile (Amos Decker series) by David Baldacci : http://amzn.to/1XvtROM

The Last Mile refers to the last journey a Death Row inmate walks as he or she heads toward his/her execution (even if it is only 30 to 50 yards or so). In this novel, the author begins his story with Melvin Mars, a convicted murderer on the Texas death row, just hours before his execution. Spared by a confession by an individual awaiting execution in Alabama, Melvin's case attracts the attention of Amos Decker, the Memory Man, traveling to his new job with an FBI Task Force?

5. Extreme Prey by John Sandford : http://amzn.to/1YXCdxH

I've read everything this guy has written. Some I like more than others but he has never failed to disappoint me! These books are the reason I think I'd like Minnesota..... I'm especially fond of the books featuring Lucas Davenport. If you are looking for an absorbing read, then look no further. This one is perfect for the plane! I started it on the flight out to NYC and finished it on the return flight home. Enjoy!

That's My Contribution. :)

message 90: by Emma (new)

Emma (romance-addict) | 1 comments I get most of my recommendations on here and from bloggers. I buy from Amazon and they're mostly ebooks. I keep meaning to join my local library but as most of the books I read are American and i'm in the UK i'm not sure how many they'll have on offer. I also read a lot of indie books too. If i'm buying a physical book I tend to go via Amazon too. If I prefer the American version of the cover i'll sometimes be bad and buy that version, as they tend to be much nicer than the UK versions.

Chan | 5093 comments I'm not sure where to post this...
I'm looking for good short story/novella suggestions. I tend to read books with at least 250 pages because I find it hard to get into the insta-love novels. However, I read one with a backstory of the main characters having a history and I really enjoyed it.

Please help me find good short stories.
P.S. - While I do enjoy suspense a lot, I have a hard time with gory and horror novels. They give me nightmares :(

message 96: by Karen (new)

Karen | 8 comments Whatever is free on Kindle...read the sample to see if I like it. Not all short books are great...But I've found new authors I would have never read if it weren't for the authors giving book #1 away.
