Cait (tigercait) | 4988 comments Me again, with a few more series dos and don'ts:

* Don't put the book number in the series title! Check the "numbered" checkbox and a field will open for putting the number on the book. For example, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" should be part of the "Harry Potter" series and numbered 1, not part of the "Harry Potter 1" series.

* When you create a new series, do a quick search to try and add all of the books in that series to it. Searching on parenthetical parts of titles (where the series information used to belong) is working again, so a search on the series name should turn up most of them quickly -- this is particularly useful for nonfiction series which have different authors for each book.

* Don't remove the series information from the book title yet! I know it's frustrating to have it duplicated, but the series isn't displaying in all parts of the site and we'd like to keep the series with the title until that's completed. Don't spend time updating the title with series information if it's not already there (do update if it's there but incorrect!), but don't remove the series data until the new feature has fully replaced it.

* And just a little reminder: please keep taking care not to create duplicate series.

Mountie | 17 comments Thanks Cait! I was wondering when I could do away with the (Title, Series #) and now I know.

Fjeronimo | 21 comments I imagine that since the series support is still an unfinished feature, the Librarian Manual will only be updated once it is completed?

I wonder if it would be interesting to have a WIP section that contemplates some of the new features of goodreads that will be of interest to librarians...
