What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Ok I don't know much about the book. I know that it is a sci-fi/fantasy book series. Its 2 main characters name are Joe and Maggie who are brought into another world. Once there they are transformed into different people and sent out to train. They battle an evil wizard who wants to bring the end of both worlds. Later in the series Joe brings his son back to his new world. Joe is also bitten by a were and therefor turns into the nears person or animal he is near on the full moons. I think this book series was plubished in the 1980's. Sorry it ain't much to go on but it is all I can think of right now
