Ren Puspita (renpuspita) | 244 comments @Adisty : The Alpha Alternative? Its told from Barron's POV at DarkFever. When he first met Mac, I think. Still not read it yet. I must catch up with Bloodfever and so on. So many books to read :(

As for erotica, for me erotic romance can be categorized into erotica too. Its story usually not just how many intimate scene (I want to say s*x, but wonder is there any under age person here, LOL!) or how much taboo that told, but about feeling. Its all about feeling for me when I read erotica titles.
I can recommend some if you want to read erotic romance. I love titles by Olivia Cunning and Lauren Dane. Its have heavily erotica content, its have taboo like same gender relationship, its can be sappy sometimes. But what I love is how the author write about relationship. Not just between couples, but with people around them. I like Lauren Dane, because she write best family stories, and as for Olivia Cunning, she can write bromance very well =)

@amanda, if you're a seasoned pirate who happens to use torrent like me, you can find it. I got my hardsoft pirated copy from one of torrent site.
Half way through Never Knowing, gosh this book is so frustrating! Here you got a killer who spews his childhood story like a freaking tweety but the cops are only focusing on finding his location based on phone trace. For god sake, call the BAU (yes, I'm a bit obsessed with Criminal Minds).
/end of rant.

Download and install bittorrent first, then go to torrent site, download the torrent file. Bittorent will automatically download the original file.

Just see Fifty Shades of Grey available at Periplus, oh my!
Right now reading The Seduction of Phaeton Black, a nice mix of Victorian Era, gothic historical and erotica as well

Yes, but everytime I've started downloading with Bittorent (or similar program), the download speed is just depressingly slow.

Ren wrote: "Just see Fifty Shades of Grey available at Periplus, oh my!"

I've read VERY mixed reviews about that book.... still not sure whether to try it or not. If you end up reading it, make sure to tell us what you think!

message 456: by Coqueline (new)

Coqueline | 264 comments Ugh. No. Someone from my other forum posted an excerpt from the book:

Here's an excerpt from the Grey book:

“When did you start your period, Anastasia?” he asks out of the blue, gazing down at me.

“Err... yesterday,” I mumble in my highly aroused state.

“Good.” He releases me and turns me around.

“Hold on to the sink,” he orders and pulls my hips back again, like he did in the playroom, so I’m bending down.

He reaches between my legs and pulls on the blue string… what! And… a gently pulls my tampon out and tosses it into the nearby toilet. Holy fuck. Sweet mother of all… Jeez. And then he’s inside me… ah! Skin against skin… moving slowly at first… easily, testing me, pushing me… oh my. I grip on to the sink, panting, forcing myself back on him, feeling him inside me. Oh the sweet agony… his hands clasp my hips. He sets a punishing rhythm – in, out, and he reaches around and finds my clitoris, massaging me… oh jeez. I can feel myself quicken."

MIND BLEACH, PLEASE! :P

message 457: by Adis (new)

Adis (mylunar) | 43 comments Ren : Well, yes technically erotica romance is erotica, but when I read erotica book (noted:plain erotica without ANY romance AT ALL) I didn't felt the "feeling" I usually get in romance book - maybe it was just too weird and disturbing. I also like Olivia Cunning (gosh I love The Sinner!!!) and quite enjoyed Lauren Dane.
Seriously, Fifty Shades.... Wow, I really don't expect see it here.

Coqueline : Yup, that movie. Though it's not my cuppa of tea I must admit the story is great. The last scene was surprising.
Ummm...I really hope no one underage here reading those excerpt...

Amanda : Fifty Shades definitely not for everyone. I wouldn't recommended it if you never read some erotica book, because the heavily sexual content in the book, include BDSM theme (which is very taboo and unfamiliar here in Indonesia).

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) | 244 comments @Amanda : maybe depend on your net connection? I don't have any problem when downloading torrents. The speed is the same when I download using Download Manager.

For Fifty Shades of Grey, its cost 98000 rupiahs. Much cheaper than original price, 18$. But then, I'm not sure I want spend money for books that seems people love to hate. I will tell you after I read it :)

@Coqueline : I think better if you use spoiler tag for that part, so people not shock when read it ;). Yeah, I know about that ick factor. Pretty tame from some ick things I'd read from some erotica titles I'd read. But still its disgusting. I don't know what people thinking when read that part

@Adisty : Glad you like Olivia Cunning and Lauren Dane. Both are my favorite authors. Olivia herself praise my review of Backstage Pass, LOL! My first erotica actually is Passion by Lisa Valdez. Despite the first boring part , I love the second part that make me almost cry.

When its come to erotica, always hard to decide what title are best or not, depend to our taste and if we want to read something out of the box.

Umm, I have suggestion. How if we read Fifty Shades of Grey for group reading? I remember some members suggest read erotica.
At last, I will not suffer read it alone ;)

Adis (mylunar) | 43 comments Ren : Hehe I read that review, and it good review - ur monkey made it fun to read. When I picked Passion I thought it wasn't erotica and boy how wrong I am. At least it was better than her second book of the series, Patience (rolling my eyes and shaking my head with all those unbelievable scene).

Nope, I'm sure it's not the connection, since other downloads are fine. I think maybe there are some settings that I'm not doing right. Or I just have bad luck with torrents.

Ren Puspita (renpuspita) | 244 comments @Coquelin : Aww, it will not too bad ;). No need to call psychiatrist or something like that. Maybe just need a mind bleaching, LOL!

@Wina : First, can you move your book promotion comment? I believe this thread is to discuss book we read. You can make new thread to promote, or if you not sure, you can contact our moderator. No offense here ;)

As for fantasy, I'm pretty much fantasy addict. My first read is Harry Potter, Inheritance cycle, Bartimaeus Trilogy, Narnia. And even not read Lord of The Rings yet, I watch the movie for 10 times. Alas, right now I can't read some fantasy titles again. Young adult fantasy kinda boring with all that love triangle and "I'm fallin for bad guy and I can't resist him"
Terry Goodkind, I just know the name, not the book.

@Amanda : Oh, that sucks! :( What file do you want to download from torrents? Maybe I can help it (but if its movie, uhm, sorry I can't, LOL!)

message 466: by Reza, The Curator (new)

@Amanda: not that this is the best place to discuss this, but ur torrent download speed depends heavily on the number of seeds and peers, unlike normal download from a server somewhere. or it could still be your connection i.e. torrent is blocked. also, torrent uses different port than normal download so one could work fine while the other doesn't.

Thanks for explaining it though.

A Japanese animation, to be precise. But thanks anyway... I guess I'll try visiting every dvd rental on the planet and see if I can find it there.

Lol, I agree about the YA and love triangles... *sigh* but it seems like that's what the market loves these days.

wow.. feel so lost, so many books i've never heard of. well, excluding goodkind. haven't had time to read anything lately with all my manly dragon slashing taking place. also, goddammit Coqueline, the hell was that tampon crap? that's definitely one of those places i never want to go to in my head. if that's what passes for erotica these days, i'll stick to my geeky fantasies. :p

@Wina: i read fantasies. rachel reads fantasies, i'm also pretty sure several others do too, albeit in a hush-hush kind of situation lest it weigh down on their hipster cred. hahaha.. i've been snobbishly busy these last couple of weeks, but i'd love to talk shop if you dont mind chatting with a weird geeky bastard. hit me with one of them friend request thingy!

Rachel : nice to find someone here who enjoyed 50. Yup, it was guilty pleasure. Heck I felt weird when I realize that I liked it.......and pick the next 50 books eagerly :-)

@Adisty : I have ritual to watch LOTR once a month. Never get enough *sigh* And I can't wait to watch The Hobbit. Just watch the trailer, bring tears on my eyes, LOL!

@Wina : This is definitely the best place for you :).

@Lynossa & Amanda : So rare to find YA that don't have love triangle now. And a girl who not fallin in love because "oh my God he's bad, but he's hot, but what can I do?". Errr..

Luckily, I just finish reading Eon: Dragoneye Reborn by Alison Goodman. Anyone read this book yet? So great! I love the Chinese myth, and well there's a possibilities of romance and love triangle here, but not that kind I hate. Just briefly.

For Rachel (again), I start reading Bloodfever now

@Adisty: Woah, so you ended up purchasing it! I'm surprised that you like it! LOL. I just finished the second one, and I loved it as well. So much angst, and I just got about angry everytime Ana gets angry too. What an emotional roller-coaster. Now I'm not sure whether I should go on straight to the third one, or wait to savor it. I'm not ready to say goodbye, haha.

EDIT: WUT, I thought you were Aditya, HAHA. Forget about the first sentence I wrote, lol.

@Jati: Well, yes, the infamous tampon scene. It was weird, yes. But ... as a whole, the book is not that bad.

@Ren: NO ON ROBPATZZ! PLEASE, OMG. Haha. Yes I heard about Ian, I also heard about Christian Bale and Chris Pine. I think Bale would suit, if he was younger. But he's too old for the role now. We'll see how the casting goes :)

And I've read Eon: Dragoneye Reborn, and I didn't really like it :( The Chinese myth was cool, but to me it felt disjointed. That's why I haven't gone to read Eona. Maybe later.

Enjoy Bloodfever! That series was one heck of a rollercoaster too :)

I know, right? I don't know whether to blame the writers or the market. Since Twilight, it's ALL about love triangles and hot, dangerous men.

I have Eon (among with thousands of other books) on my shelf, just waiting there. Haven't had time to read it, though - too busy unpacking stuff.

As for Fifty Shades of Grey, instead of reading the book itself, I've been more interested in reading the chapter recaps by author Jennifer Armintrout (view spoiler):

http://jenniferarmintrout.blogspot.com/

At least it's entertaining :p

Sorry, wrong fetish room... :D

But honestly, if that doesn't stop you from reading the book, I don't know what will ("Two girls, one cup", as last attempt perhaps?).

I seem to be in the minority here as I don't read romance and/or fantasy books. After I finished A Fine Balance, which is a brilliant, brilliant book, now I'm in the middle of Flowers for Algernon, which I find really fascinating as well. I just wish that my Kindle didn't break for the third time in the middle of it (I'm forced to finish it with my phone now).

As for Eon, maybe because its so different from YA I know today, that why I love it :)
Lucky me, I have all Fever series. And now it continue to new series featured Dani O Malley, and graphic novel too

@Reza : E.L James at 100 Times's list? We are DOOMED! I think the hype is too much.

@Amanda : Not just YA, but adult as well. At last the adult version not annoying as YA. Except Fifty...

Nah, I prefer it shocking the way it is now.... hehehe

I'm not a big fan of erotica myself, but I do get interested in ones with a good story (sans romance, please!) or offers and original twist to it without being too weird (even though, what I would consider original twist in one might be weird for other people and vice versa). I can enjoy erotica more when it plays on the psychological exploration of the theme rather than being a pornographic drama.
