Indonesians Who Love English Books discussion

I am currently reading 11-22-63 by Stephen King. I just completed Cobra - Frederick Forsyth, Road - Cormac M and the last Magician saga from Raymond E Feist.

Just finished Last Argument of Kings. This trilogy is amazing, although you should read all three books to enjoy this three-novel-length story. A character driven heroic fantasy with no hero.
Like A Game of Thrones, this book has grey characters. The protagonists has flaw deeds and characters. The antagonists has good reasons to have conflicts with the protagonists.

@Reza, for me The Way of King is far more fenomenal than The Killing Moon. How could I put it to words? Reading TWOK is like watching Lord of the Ring movie. It's full of fantastical new things, great battle scene, and a whole new exotic world to be explored.

Reading TKM is like watching August Rush. I know it's not the same comparison, but it do give me the same feeling of a laid back, beautiful world, filled with adventures but none too extravagant, and a love story that's both beautiful and tragic at the same time.

I hope you get my meaning :)

@Dewi: Wow, people should learn how to compare two books from you. Yes, I get what you are saying completely. Initially I thought TKM is like TWOK with arabian night setting. Turns out it is not the case. Oh well, thx anyway.

just finished between shades of gray 2 days ago and i LOVE it! love it love it love it! It's a world war 2 story from perspective that i've never heard before and i just can't wait to flip the next pages so i'll know how the story end...anyone has recommendation for books about world war 2/holocaust or something like that? i've read anne frank and the book thief,both also really greaaat!!!

Reading The Hidden Reality: Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos ... I tried but I couldn't be enthusiastic about this one unlike his other previous books which I found to be enlightening.

I am reading The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. I want to read it first, before watching the miniseries

I've just finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane in one sitting and I got to say, this is one of Gaiman's best I've read so far. I love it!

I don't know why I can't finish Norwegian Wood. It's been about 2 weeks and I'm still stuck at page 30-ish :|
So switching to a new YA release, The Beginning of Everything instead :D

read ruta sepetys book! both and are depressingly good!! she became one of my favorite author these day...i love how she wrote her story...once you read it, you couldn't put it down, trust me!

Finished with and now mid-way to by Ann Patchett. Absolutely love Bel Canto and Run seems to be quite promising as well.

I have like 5 partly read books in my back log which is shameful, I know. It used to be 6, but I recently finished Catcher in the Rye which is alright. Might be better if I was a teenage boy, which I'm not. I might finish Life of Pi next. Don't ask me why I haven't finished that yet.

Reading The Bling Ring by Nancy Jo Sales rite now. Have you guys seen the movie? It's a bunch of teenagers that broke in to celebrity houses, include Paris Hilton. They took their designer clothes, and much more branded things. And the reason they did burglary wasnt money..but fame. This book told us about what kind of life that lead young ppl nowdays. Hmm..i quite expect much from this book..i hope it's good.

I've read the book, but haven't seen the film. To be honest I was disappointed with the book, it was just like reading an extended version of the newspaper article on this gang of teenagers. But at least it wasn't tabloid journalism though.

I'm currently reading "Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell. It's starts out pretty slow and I barely could get through it, but around the middle it gets interesting. I'm curious how it ends and how it all ties together.

Just started reading The Luminaries. Picked up an ebook copy because it won the Booker and didn't realise until after that it is over 800 pages long! At least it's a historical novel and Victorian thriller.

Finished with Animal Farm. I'm thinking of reading Canada next.

I'm reding Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck, it starts good but I lost it in the middle

so I switched to Me Before You by Jojo Moyes, it's promising

I also bought Insatiable which I deeply regretted I didn't read the review first on Goodreads. I thought Meg Cabot will be as good as she was in mediator series.

I finished reading The Price of a Kiss and it was awesome!

I'm trying to finish Khaled Hosseini's book, "And The Mountains Echoed". This book tells a lot about terrible condition in Afghanistan. Great book, I think.

Just pick a random book, and here I am reading Katzenjammer by Stefani Hid. Nice story so far.

WOW!!! I salute you for reading that book! I don't even have the gut to read it, lol. Maybe not yet. I haven't read any Man Booker books for his year, well, only one, TransAtlantic by Colum McCann, which is longlisted for this year's Man Booker.

I'm currently reading A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood, simply because I was so curious about this book. This book reminds me of Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, On Chesil Beach by Ian McEwan and The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry, in term of how the story is told.

Has anyone here read A Single Man?
