Idan (wmhadjri) | 49 comments I just started reading both Arus Balik: Sebuah Epos Pasca Kejayaan Nusantara di Awal Abad 16 by Pramoedya Ananta Toer and 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami. I'm not sure which one I end up finishing first, though. Both are equally amazing in its own way!

Any of you affected by recent floods? I hope you and your loved ones are safe and dry.

I'm reading Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies, albeit slowly. Been listening to lots of podcast.

Biondy | 103 comments Currently reading The Shining by Stephen King

message 1310: by Anny (new)

Anny | 225 comments @Reza: Nope. Live in a flood-free town. Lucky me!

Guns, Germs, and Steel is definitely one of my favorite non-fictions, probably second only to Richard Dawkins' The Selfish Gene

What do you think of Such a Rush? Do you like it? It's one of my fav reads of 2013.

I'm currently reading The Fault in Our Stars. People keep saying good things about this book but I don't know, haven't interested to read it until now. So far so good.

Such A Rush was a great book! It took a little time to like it because it was about airplanes. My vocabulary and knowledge about airplanes is not that good.. But it was a very interesting. The drama and romance are enjoyable to read :)

The Fault in Our Stars is an excellent book!! It was very inspiring. Keep reading it.. It will get better :)

message 1316: by Jesua (new)

Jesua Jovan (jesuajcr) | 14 comments I'm currently reading The Prestige. It was arrived in late December from TBD. It's about rivalry of two magicians. Christopher Nolan already make a movie from this book, although i just found out that the tension of the "war" is not as lethal as the film. I'm a little bit dissapointed but so far i think it's good.

message 1317: by Anny (new)

Anny | 225 comments Reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter series, about a serial killer who only after bad guys. Quite funny even if a tad over the top.

Also reading The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry for group read. Just starting, okay so far.

Reading Fever. I read Wither few years ago and I liked it, but I guess I grew out of YA, I don't enjoy it as much as I used to.

Reading The Gods of Guilt the fifth book in the lincoln lawyer series. Spent the last couple of weeks on a terry pratchett binge read and before that all of lee child's reacher books.

I remember reading the dexter series a couple of years back I think. I agree it was a little over the top but plenty interesting. Felt kinda disappointed by the tv series adaptation though...

I'm into dystopian novels again right now. XD

message 1334: by Adhityani (new)

Adhityani (dhitri) Just finished this one pretty much in one sitting: The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman.

message 1344: by Femmy (new)

Femmy | 301 comments I'm reading Magician because I'm in the mood for some classic epic fantasy, in the farm-boy-saves-the-world vein. This series has been popular for a long time, so I thought I'd give it a try.

message 1345: by Anny (new)

Anny | 225 comments @Femmy: I also have Magician in my to-read list. How is it so far? I hope it's not another run-of-the-mill YA, those are not really my cup of tea.

message 1346: by Femmy (new)

Femmy | 301 comments @Anny: I'm at 18% right now and so far nothing really interesting has come up yet. However, it is an old series, so we can't really expect the fast pacing of modern fantasy.

It's about scientist(s) exploration to the deepest place on earth, I have to open dictionary more often to understand most of academic words in it. Good practice for my IELTS academic test next month.
