message 1597: by Adhika (last edited Mar 02, 2015 02:28AM) (new)

Adhika | 20 comments After a very strong start with The First Man in Rome, The Grass Crown and Fortune's Favorites covering the Marius and Sulla, the the Masters of Rome series by Colleen McCullough kind of slowed down with the less interesting Caesar's Women. So i put the series on hiatus..

Fortunately, when i did decide on continuing reading, the next book, Caesar, picked up pace with Caesar fighting the war in Gaul, followed by the crossing of the Rubicon and the civil war.

So I am again enjoying this very well researched series...
(I really wish somebody would have a similar level of treatment for stories of Indonesian kingdoms)

Having just finished Caesar, currently reading the penultimate book from the series, The October Horse: A Novel of Caesar and Cleopatra about the fall of Caesar and the rise of Octavian.
