In between I also read Leaves of Grass by Walt Whitman. It's a poetry collection and Whitman touches every kind of subject there are, from patriotism to romance, from solitude to mass fanfare. Sometimes it intrigued me, sometimes it bored me though. We'll see.

I really loved the first book and hoped it went the same for the second

I finished Uprooted by Naomi Novik recently and it was such a great read!
I'm still trying to get through The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen but I find the main character to be a tad bit problematic. I know it's supposed to be empowering, but I think her character is an anti-feminist, somewhat. We'll see how it goes.

I want to try Daughter of Smoke and Bone, but Karina said she didn't enjoy it. So i have to reconsider now and looking for other books. And i think i will scroll your conversation, guys lol. There should be one or two books of my taste.
Hi Reena, welcome to the group :) I've read Daughter of Smoke and Bone and though some bits lagged, I thought overall it's a solid book. The second one was pretty good too. However, I can't get through the third, haha. I found that the middle bits of Laini Taylor's books drags, but then the endings always leave me wanting for more. But so far, I can't get through the third. I've left it and went on to read something else.
On to what I'm reading... The Queen's Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner! I've read 3 of them in the span of one week and I'm just about to start A Conspiracy of Kings, the 4th installment to the series. I can't gush enough about it. This series is freakin' A+. I have irrevocably fallen in love with the story and the characters.

Hi, Rachel! I am sooo happy that you love this series! :D I have wanted to talk and discuss it with someone but I couldn't just find any. Now we can gushing about it together. Haha..

Soon, Juliana! I'm just about to finish A Conspiracy of Kings (I've been putting off a lot of work to finish this series, haha). When can we expect the 5th?

Thankfully the atrocities described there mainly happened in the USA (or at least I hope so). Successfully converted me to Beyond Organic faith (any believer here?).
Finished reading The Glass Palace, a captivating journey from Burma, the Golden Land, to the military dictatorship Myanmar of today. Next, another Amitav Ghosh's book The Hungry Tide.

Woww iam interest to read The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals.. I should put it into my TBR list >__<... Have you read these books too since it almost similar theme :
1. Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us
2. Eating Animals
3. Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal
4. Sugar Crush: How to Reduce Inflammation, Stop Pain, and Reverse the Path to Diabetes
Yes.. i think i should think about what i've eaten before is it good for my health or not.. that's why at least i start to reduce eating red meats and some junkfood/soda.. try healthy lifetyle :)
I just finished reading More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera and OMG i just wanna crying silently since the story is so great! it is broken and somehow frustating! i doesn't recommend for you who doesn't like Not Happy Ending story you can just stay away from this books.. :D
I also do some Booktubeathon challenge which start on August 3rd until August 9th 2015.. Wish me good luck! :D

What started me on this path was The Way We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter, made me realize the evilness of meat-factory. Then I read another wonderful book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life, which taught me the importance of supporting local farms/economies. Eat Locally!
And now, you'll be surprised to hear that red-meat is not the evil ones here (eating a grass-fed beef might be healthier than eating a corn-fed salmon according to this book). What matter is not only what you eat, but also what you eat EAT.
Sounds like I good book. I do like Not Happy Ending ending, so I might give it a try :-)
Good luck for your challenge! XD

Haha i haven't read the book that you mentioned aboved i will put it into my TBR list too. Thank you for the recommendation XD. Yes after i read Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer i think about became vegetarian since i feel disgust with the way slaughter house treats the animals. I lose my appetite for meat a few days later >__< .
yup I do agree that is not only what we eat but how the process our food is actually? It kinda freak me out when read those books especially about salt, sugar and fat consumption hiks.

Is it any good? I've been thinking of trying it, but not sure if it's worth my while.

Just finished Captain's Bride...
On to the next conquest!

So good, thought provoking, eye opening. I think everyone should read this book at least once. I'm halfway through, and I can see myself want to re-read this book for every 3 months or 6 months.
