Just finished The White Queenby Phillipa Gregory. The book had translated as Ratu Mawar Putih.
I love this one, because its make me help to learn about English history, especially Plantegenet era, an era before that infamous Tudor era. Maybe I will always enjoy Historical fiction rather than historical romance. (Not that I against Historical romance book, I still read them)

Now, back to romance novels again. Can't live without them =P

Citra | 24 comments I'm now reading The Hunger Games, the first book of the trilogy. This book looks very promising, I enjoy it so far.

Meita Supardi | 2 comments hi, i'm new in this group. like mysteries, thriller, also enjoy chick-lit. i'm trying to finish the in death series by j.d.robb, and just begin Betrayal in Death (no. 12 in the series). know any good mystery author? I really want to try new author, but usually ends up buying jd robb, jefery deaver or harlan coben again. Used to like james patterson, however not so much right now, because he seems to write with different person everytime, and the short chapters are getting boring. As with chick-lit, i've just begunreading madeleine wickham books, really entertaining, just finished cocktails for three and begin the tennis party.

Cool! Back to the Future, Ghostbuster, Dungeon and Dragons, Pacman, Leopardon, Mazinger, Gundam, Mechagodzilla, Ultraman, all exist in the story! If you are interested on MMO-RPG, this is the best book to read :D

Well, it seems I will have to back hiatus again. I have to prepare for facing the last bosses in my thesis exam ;)

I'm dying to peek at the discussion thread but I have to hold myself >.>

Get well soon, Lynossa!

I've finished Good Omens already, and finally got around to finishing Radiant Shadows (which was a total bore), and now I'm going to start on Juliet Immortal. Definitely not your thing, I think Lynossa. Lol.

Let me guess, romance? lol.
I'm planning to re-read Huck Finn after I'm done with Good Omens and Graceling in the spirit of reading classic books.

As for what Rachel read, its YA right? Radiant Shadow is part of Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr

Right now I read Lord and Lady Spy.. A historical parody of Mr and Mrs Smith which the setting in Regency Era. Very good so far

Thanks Ren!
You know, I have the last book of Wicked Lovely series, I won it on a giveaway in twitter, it's an ARC. I haven't read the series and after reading Marr's Graveminder, I don't think I want to read the series. Not because she's a bad writer but because the romance is dominating the story (which is not my thing). So if anyone wants it, I can send it to you.

message 160: by Rachel, First Lady (new)

Rachel (rachelhadeli) | 698 comments Mod
It is part of the Wicked Lovely series and I have the whole set already. It was such a disappointing read, Radiant Shadow was. But the previous one was really good, so I'm hoping Darkest Mercy will set the series to right. And how was Graveminder, Lynossa? I've seen it book shops, not sure whether I should get it though.

Now I'm reading Tiger's Curse. I have been turned off by the cover, but people have been saying good things about it, so intrigued I am. Another YA romance, it seems. I'm on a YA roll. lol.

Lynossa | 485 comments Mod
Graveminder was okay but not special, even though it falls on the 'adult' genre, it has YA feels in it. And it would be better for me if it's focus less on the romance and more on the action, lol.
I've been hearing good things about Tiger Curse, tell me about it once you're done, Rachel.

ARC? o_O..
I would love to have it, but then I don't know if I want to read it. That's will be a waste, lol! Hope someone will want it soon =)

So, I finish reading Wings of Fire. And after read 3 romance books in a row, I need to cool down and read Hounded.
An urban fantasy with man as main character and Celt Myth. I'm so excited =)

I finished Tiger's Curse yesterday and I loved it. As usual, there are lots of cheesy moments and questionable dialogues and typical teenage way of thinking, but overall I think the whole adventure made up for it. It started off slow... But once the adventure began I thought it was really fun. I won't lie... I laughed out loud a couple of times and grinned by myself like an idiot throughout some moments. Now I can't wait to get home from work to continue with Tiger's Quest :D

Neverwhere is quite good, but I was rather disappointed of it because it wasn't that scary at all. You should try Suicide Notes, the MC is hilarious too, very smart, witty, and sarcastic, in a good way.

I think you guys should give it a try to read this book, because I think the concept of thinking that is written in this book to make the right decision in our daily life is very profound and good for our well-being and others in our life. Well they use the concept of buddhism of course..you know Dalai Lama right?? but this book isn't trying to convert anybody to buddhis, myself is a christian and I feel nothing against my faith while I read this book. It kinda combining the concept of buddhism and business world. Really..it is a good book and one more thing, I'm not being paid by anyone to write this recommendation hahaha, PEACE!!!

all of you amaze me with the books you are currently reading. Well, I think that I love reading but not as much as you guys do since in reality I spend most of my time reading blog and browsing. LOL.

I just finished reading The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan, and currently reading My Uncle Oswald by Roald Dahl and The Immortal life of Nicholas Flamel. Has anyone read the books I'm currently reading?

I'm currently reading the not-so-exciting Life in the United Kingdom: Official Citizenship Test Study Guide: A Journey to Citizenship - Study Guide: 1, along with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for my monthly read and Turn Left at Orion: A Hundred Night Sky Objects to See in a Small Telescope--and How to Find Them. Btw, I've been looking for Going Solo. Have you read this one?

I'm reading The Laughing Corpse by Laurell K. Hamilton. I normally wouldn't read this, but I am on a self-imposed strike. Let me explain.

A month ago, I read an amazing book. Two books to be exact. Tiger's Curse & Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck. It combined the things that I love in YA into one neat package, and it was a great ride. The third one just got released in the States. I've ordered it online.. it'll still be a month before it gets here. And I just don't want to taint it with any other YA. LOL.

So I'm reading the Anita Blake vampire slayer series. I really like the main character; Anita is snarky, sarcastic and a bad-ass. She's a 1000x time better than Sookie Stackhouse.

To everyone who don't know yet; I love YA, romance, fantasy and supernatural fiction. :D

I'm done with Amy and Roger's Epic Detour, which is an awesome YA and if you haven't read it, Rachel, you should.
Almost done with Also Known as Rowan Pohi, quite nice, only 200ish pages in netgalley ebook.

ps: I'm finally done with Graceling, Rachel. I like Katsa very much, I just wish there's more action in it. What about Fire? From the blurb it seems like a story about someone else, will there still be Katsa and Po (and Bitterblue?)

I think Fire is more "romantic" than Graceling, and is still very good. Fire is the prequel to Graceling, Lynossa, so there is no Po and Katsa; the story is about how Locke (is that his name? I forgot) came into existence and how the events in Graceling came into motion.

Cashore is going to release a third book in the series called Bitterblue, and it'll have Po and Katsa in it. :)

Oh, and I'm currently reading A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. So far I'm very into it and the pictures take the whole reading experience into another level.

Hi Lila,
Sorry for taking so long to reply this. I haven't read much of Mr. Roald Dahl, sadly I actually started with watching the films first. That is never a good idea for me. Ruins my imagination when I read the book.

Hi Faye, I agree with you, watching the movie always ruins the imagination. I try to read the books first before I watch the movie adaptation.

Hi Lynossa. Indeed, I think there's nothing worse than having your imagination limited by the images and scenes that are already planted there.

Back to the topic, I'm currently reading (and loving it!)The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

I just finished The Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chima. I did not realize it was not a trilogy. A little bummed out because I wanted it to end in the third book. The first was mediocre, the second was amazing and now the third is back to mediocre again. Don't milk it, authors >.<

And now I'm reading Tiger's Voyage by Colleen Houck. Finally! So excited. I've missed the characters so, so, so much.

Silvana (silvaubrey) Currently reading Slaughterhouse-Five. I hope I'll find out why all the fuss about this book. Highly recommended by some of my friends.

Next I'll read thin books (since I'm two books behind my reading target this year): Holes, The Good Soldier Švejk, Heart of Darkness, The Pyramid and last but not least Going Solo. Pretty happy with my reading this year.

I stop reading it. Just not my cup of tea, though. The idea is unique, the problem is I can't connect with Mr Hearne's writing style. 1st PoV is kinda hit and miss for me.

Right now I read Darkfever. Since the final book of this series is win Goodreads Choice Award 2011 and had been choosed to made into movie by Dreamworks, I'm curious =)

It's about the Fey, isn't it? I'm some-what over the Fey; no more YA Fey books for me. I've got one book left to read in the Wicked Lovely series, but after that, that's it. But I'll still watch the movie. I'm a sucker for YA movies of all kind, lol.

But tell me if it's good, Ren. I just read the reviews, and some hate it, some love it. I'm curious as to what you think of it :)

I'm currently reading Blood Red Road by Moira Young. I've heard so many good things about it, and to be sure, I've never read a book written like this before. BUT, so far? Underwhelming. Reminds me of Dune, sort of.

Not Fey, but Fae :)
And its adult not YA. Actually I'm not into YA right now, since there are so many overhyped YA titles and I'm afraid my expectation will too high and I found it... lacking.

i did American Gods a long way back. it was actually my first Gaiman, and i actually remembered it being a little hard to finish. although, that might just be my reading level since at the time i was still in my kiddies Goosebumps phase. still though, i remember it was also very interesting i a dark, well.. Gaiman, kind of way.

I'm currently on page 35 and enjoying it.
Anyway, I must admit that I cheated. I read The Perks of Being A Wallflower a few moments ago, instead of finishing either American Gods or Home :p I've read it for the third time now. Definitely my favorite book out of my favorite books.

By the way, do you enjoy Blood Red Moira? I can't pass the first 10 pages. The writing style bugged me a lot!

You mean Blood Red Road by Moira Young, right?

Incidentally I just finished it! It took me a long time to finish it; more than usual anyway. I know what you mean about the writing style, but I think that's what sets the book apart from all the other YA. After a while, you don't really notice it anymore. Story wise.... very simple. And predictable. But, the characters are really good; Saba, Emmi and Jack (if you continue reading, you'll meet him about half-way through). I can't say I'm all that impressed with the book as a whole, but there are worse YA out there. This one is actually pretty decent. A much different way to tackle the whole government-all-controlling issue.

@Rachel, yes, I mean that (stupid fingers and brain for not in sync). It's dystopian, right? So far I read some dystopian YA but nothing as good as The Hunger Games and Divergent (Unless you consider The Knife of Never Letting Go as dystopian).
Currently juggling between Going Bovine and The Lightning Thief, depend on my mood.

Patricia Rosemoor - Lucky Devil

He was a cowboy to be reckoned with…

JoJo Weston tried not to be impressed by the obviously dangerous man standing before her...oozing sensuality. Lucky was a Donatelli - not to be trusted, not to be messed with. Could he possibly even be the one who'd been waiting...watching...moving in on her...?

The only thing JoJo knew about Lucky was that for six long years he'd managed to stay out of sight. Now he was back...and more mysterious than ever. JoJo wanted to believe that he wasn't the one staging her 'accidents,' but he was always there...ready to play the hero...ready to console her.
