Vanessa (jedi_zombie) Hey ladies & gents! =] I was wondering if anyone could recommend to me a vampire novel in the same vein as the book "midnight mass" by F. Paul Wilson (which is a favorite of mine). Just a straight gritty vampire novel that has little/no romance and will scare the crap outta me! lol! ;op

Hoping to hear from you all!

Scott Baker | 148 comments Some of my favs are John Steakley's VAM$PIRES, David Wellington's vampire series, and Guillermo del Toro/Chuck Hogan's trilogy. Their vampires are pretty hardcore.

If I may be self-serving, you can take a crack at mine -- The Vampire Hunters -- which is available in paperback from Pill Hill Press (www.pillhillpress.com) or as an e-book from Shadowfire Press (shadowfirepress.com). No glitter or vampire romance -- just pure, evil bloodsuckers.

Bill (billymac) I haven't read Midnight Mass, but anytime someone mentions vampires I have to recommend Brian Lumley's Necroscope series.

The first book is outstanding, the second is ok, and then the series takes an amazing turn in the third. I made it though seven books, but the main series ends with book five.
These vampires are hard core and evil. I loved this series.
