Mel Luna Two children are the protagonists and they find different enchanted items that take them on a variety of adventures. For instance, with the boots on, one step takes you halfway around the world. I think the gloves made them invisible... I can't place it but maybe it will sound familiar to one of you?

Emily (emmy1066) | 49 comments What the Witch Left! By Ruth Chew.

Her witch aunt left behind stuff in a dresser for the girl's mother to take care of. The girl and her friend get into it, finding Seven League Boots, which took them to Mexico where they hung out with a girl named Pilar. There was an invisibility cloak if I remember correctly. I do remember gloves but not what they were for.

My sister and I were obsessed with Ruth Chew's books when we were kids, checking them out over and over from the library. I buy them now whenever I see them, read them and then mail them to my sis. This was one of my favorite that I'm still looking for.

Laura (laurahogan) | 72 comments The gloves didn't make the kids invisible -- what happened was that when you put them on, you became very skillful at whatever you were trying to do with your hands, like sewing and weaving.

I loved this book SO MUCH when I was a kid. Thanks for reminding me of it!

Emily (emmy1066) | 49 comments Ah Laura, yes. Thanks. (I'll tell my sister - she couldn't remember either). They used the gloves to sew a costume for a Thanksgiving day play at school.
