I've updated the posting requirements for the winter challenge.

This is primarily just a reorganization and clarification of the older post. PLEASE READ THROUGH THIS, EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE.

One change is that to claim points for a task involving the cover of a book, you MUST post either a link to the book or a picture of the cover. The requirements contain a link to the SRC folder explaining how to post a link.

You'll note that there are "Guidelines" and "Requirements." If your post doesn't comply with a requirement, points will not be given, a post will be made in the problems/questions thread, and you will need to repost.

The guidelines are requests from the moderators - your post won't be disallowed if you don't, but your help in making the posts easier to work with will be greatly appreciated. This is a volunteer task, it's time consuming to begin with, and clear posts make the job much easier.

Thanks to all of you for helping make this work. We're looking forward to another great seasonal challenge!

The posting requirements have been updated for the Summer 2012 challenge.

Three changes:
1. Any book for which you claim points MUST be listed on Goodreads.
2. All posts for completed tasks MUST include a link to the book.
3. All posts for completed tasks using books that only exist in e-book form MUST include a reference to the "approved ebooks" spreadsheet or to the post # in which approval was given.

For more details, please go to The Rules: Posting Requirements.

And, for those of you whose goals include not being mentioned in the "problems/?" thread, a refresher reading of the posting requirements could be helpful. ; )

Sassafrass (sass-a-frass) | 891 comments Oooh, I'll have to remember new rule #3, that's how I got into trouble on the last challenge. I'll have to go back on my spreadsheet and note which ones had to be approved!

Dee (austhokie) | 8964 comments will do Sandy - i'll start making note of the approval msg or the spreadsheet - is saying spreadsheet enough, because the line numbers are going to change as new books are added

give some indication - "around line # X" or something, so I don't have a lot of hunting to do. These ebook only posts are a HUGE pain for the mods and we need to try to minimize the extra work that they create.

I've updated the posting requirements for the winter 2013-2014 challenge.

This is primarily just a reorganization and "cleaning up" of the requirements - only a couple things have changed and they won't affect most of you. The new parts are in 10, 11, and 12. PLEASE READ THROUGH THE POSTING REQUIREMENTS, EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW EXACTLY HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE. Refreshers are good!

One change is that we've added the "post tasks in numerical order" to the requirements. Most of you already do this, but the posts that don't really slow down the process. It may sound picky, but there's a lot of work involved in keeping up the readerboard, and we have to try to fix the things that slow it down.

I've also added something about the genre verification issue, and info about making your post clear if you're moving books around during the course of the challenge.

You'll note that we've split out "Guidelines" and "Requirements." They're split primarily because I ran out of space!

If your post doesn't comply with a requirement, points will not be given, a post will be made in the problems/questions thread, and you will need to repost.

Message 2 is from 2012. I'll add a link, but you can just click on the topic Posting Requirements in the Rules of the Challenge section.

The posting requirements have been updated for Summer 2014. The only change is in #7 - requirements for posts claiming GRA and BB tickets. Claims need to be made with the specific book postings, rather than in a list at the beginning or ending of the post. Posts claiming GRA tickets must include the name of the author, and BB ticket claims for audiobooks and ebooks must include the link to the edition used to establish length.
