Lee | 2502 comments This was a popular thread on another site I was on for quite awhile....till I found GR's.....

To see how the weather, temp, snow, rain is in your neck of the woods. See, I'm a map geek, like to know where a certain town is, in the state, I read about in the paper, novel, whatever!

So.....to start off, ( tho a day late ) our turkey day here started out a balmy 6 degrees. The high was 30. This morning it was 10. Supposed to be in the 50's tho, the next three days.

Side note...The way I put the temp. # will be in Fahrenheit, for us in the states.. If our friends from across the pond, or Canada would put a "C" behind their temp.....we yanks can figure it out!

Lee

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments Hey, Lee
hi, Lee's 'stache :)
so, here it was rainy this morning, stopped about 10am, but it's still cloudy and about 50, should be in the upper 40's this weekend with no rain

message 3: by Lee (new)

Lee | 2502 comments Welcome Bandit as the first replier on the weather thread.....BUT....your profile is private, so I don't know where it's raining & cloudy! LOL

message 4: by Brainycat (new)

Brainycat | 409 comments It's heavily overcast, an even grey blanket hovering about 700 feet over the city. Our record-breaking cold snap finally lifted, and according to the thermometer on the patio it's up to a balmy 41 degrees.

The snow and ice has finally melted off the streets, though there's still a lot of patches on the grass and trees. The pond behind our house has some ice left, but with water sheening across the top it won't last long.

message 5: by Lee (new)

Lee | 2502 comments I read about that "cold snap" in the Seattle area, Brainycat. With all the hilly streets there, I'll bet that was real fun!

message 6: by Brainycat (new)

Brainycat | 409 comments I grew up in Kansas City, so I never felt like I had any trouble getting around. The problem is a very significant portion of the population is not at all familiar with snow. I stay home not because I'm afraid of putting my truck in a ditch, but because I'm afraid of getting T-Boned.

There were people stuck on the main north/south highway for up to 10 hours Monday night.

message 7: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments It's freakin' cold here in Ontario, Canada. The sun is out for the first time in a couple of days, which is awesome, but when the wind hits you, you know it.

I think it's something like -1 C out. Don't know if there's a wind chill factor, but I would not doubt it.

message 8: by J (new)

J (blkdoggy) | 135 comments I'm down in SoFla. Temps are in the upper 60's in the evenings and in the mid 80's during the day. The humidity is lower so it makes the days really nice. This is the best time of the year to live here. I't a nice break from the oppresive heat and humidity of the summers.

message 9: by Amy (new)

Amy (bibliocrates) | 426 comments It's been raining off and on all night an day here in Alabama.

message 10: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments I wish I lived in Florida, sometimes. I think that the humidity would get to me, though. Arizona would be a great place for me to live. Dry heat, little rain, lots of sunshine, and chilly nights. Sounds like my cup of tea.

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments Well....I started typing in this thread...hit a key and blimp...it was gone.....

Hi Lee..... I live in Central Florida (New Port Richey)

I have no idea what the weather was yesterday as I did not venture outside but it was nice and sunny in my living room.

I just walked out to my porch and it is very overcast....seems like it is going to start sprinkling any minute. There is a nice breeze and it is balmy-ish. I do not know the temp....but according to google it is 81 degrees.

message 14: by Lee (new)

Lee | 2502 comments 81, sheesh....LOL

That a warm/hot day for us, in the SUMMER!!!

Sounds pretty good too me to, Bandit.

message 15: by Bill (new)

Bill (billymac) Ottawa here, it was freezing rain and some snow overnight so a bit of a slush fest for the commute this morning.
I miss summer already. This year's was a great one.

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments Update...it did rain and now the sun is sort of peeking through!

81 is a nice temp....I will be wearing capris and tee shirt!

I live about an hours drive north of Toronto, and we were supposed to get freezing rain, too. We didn't.

Tonight, according to the Weather Network, we're supposed to get hit pretty hard with snow squalls. I saw a tractor out dumping sand on the sidewalks, earlier. Never a good sign.

Bill (billymac) Well, it beats the Army being called in ;)

(Inside joke we like to tease Torontonians about)

message 19: by Larry (new)

Larry (hal9000i) Snowed yesterday, now its all icy!

message 20: by MJ (new)

MJ (zombette) | 545 comments It was a brisk 19 degrees this morning in Chicago.

message 21: by Amanda (new)

Amanda M. Lyons (amandamlyons) Here in central Ohio its November and acting more like September or October. A little rain but no snow and little frozen temps.

message 22: by Amy (new)

Amy (bibliocrates) | 426 comments My heat just kicked on this evening for the 1st time in about 2 weeks. It's been in the 70s lately, but it sure did cool off today.

message 23: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Not so sure if it's very humid in Florida. I've been there many times in my life and the humidity is NOTHING like Alabama in August and September or Louisiana June-November.

It was cold here yesterday when we went to get our Xmas tree. It's cool today: 61 and dry. Supposed to drop to the fifties later in the week. We built a cozy fire yesterday that was nice.

message 24: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments I have no idea what the weather is today since I have not left the house....but it seems nice outside. My AC is still coming on.

message 25: by Amy (new)

Amy (bibliocrates) | 426 comments I disagree, T. I've been to Florida in August twice. It is very humid, worse than Alabama. Also, Florida is mostly surrounded by water, unlike Alabama. Not saying that it isn't horribly humid here in 'Bama though, cuz it is.

message 26: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments Yep....it is pretty darn humid here in Florida....my frizzy hair can attest to that fact. August is one of the worst months, but really anytime the weather heats up, it is HUMID.

message 27: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Oh, maybe I've been to FL at non-humid times of the year. I do hear what you're saying about heat near the water. My husband's grandmother lived in Muscle Shoals, AL, near the water and it was damn near unbearable through the warm months.

Humidity turns my hair into a black cotton ball. Ugh.

message 28: by Amy (new)

Amy (bibliocrates) | 426 comments You should've seen my hair when I 1st moved here from a dry climate. I can somewhat manage it with products, but it still poofs and gets all wirey, ugh!

message 29: by Erica (new)

Erica (bookpsycho) | 256 comments I live in southern Washington and it is currently 39 degrees. A lot warmer than last week when it snowed on Thanksgiving.

message 30: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments I usually have shiny, sleek hair just from blow drying, but I give up when it's humid or misting. I don't have wiry hair but it does have a natural wave, which was fine when I had long hair but doesn't look good with a pixie cut.

I went to Louisiana for Christmas one year and it was warm enough to wear shorts. The next year I left my new pea coat at home and it was freezing. Weather in the south can't make up its mind.

Erica, how long before you get sick of the snow? I love when it snows here--especially on a work day--but after a couple of days I'm over it and getting cabin fever and an itch to drive and go to stores. No one here can drive in snow or ice...or rain.

I usually get sick of it after the first day. Living in Alaska for a time ruined it for me. Fortunately it doesn't always snow here. People are the same here. A little snow and everyone freaks. The news stations treat it like the second coming or something.

message 32: by Jason (new)

Jason (darkfiction) | 3233 comments I get sick of snow after the first day, too. I don't mind the cool weather, but I hate snow.

message 33: by Bandit (new)

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments I like snow aesthetically, but in practical sense it's a total mess, the city doesn't handle it well.

message 34: by Steve (new)

Steve Chaput (stevec50) It was a bit windy, but otherwise we had a very, nice day here in Lake Forest, CA. It was in the 60s and mostly sunny.

Lee | 2502 comments "It was cold here yesterday when we went to get our Xmas tree. It's cool today: "61" and dry. Supposed to drop to the fifties later in the week. We built a cozy fire yesterday that was nice."

Sheesh.....I guess I'm gonna have to get use to you southern folk on here. In my part of the country, 61 at the end of Nov.....the golf course's, car wash's & parks would be full! If we had 61, building a fire, wouldn't even cross my mind! LOL

10 degrees here, windy, had an inch or two of snow this morning.

message 36: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments It was warm here today. Idk the temp but shorts and tee would have been fine. I went for a walk at 1930 hours and it was a bit cool.

message 37: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Lee, heehee. We feel the same way about you and the "heat" of summer. You don't know heat till you've spent a summer down here.

It was only slightly chilly but it poured all day long. My wipers are for shit and when my husband stopped off at Wally World to get me some new ones, it magically stopped raining.

message 38: by Lee (new)

Lee | 2502 comments Cleared up last night, so the thermometer read "0" degrees this morn. That's an eye opener in the 4:00 hour....

message 39: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) | 797 comments We have a snowy blizzard here in Sunny snowy England

message 40: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments It is overcast this morning...... I am going back to bed!

message 41: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments Rained cats and dogs while I was on the interstate. When I got to the parking deck a juror was asking about a shuttle that was supposed to swing by and pick them up. I ended up sharing my umbrella with him so he could get to the courthouse without getting soaked.

Mid-60s now, but the temp is supposed to drop this afternoon.

Jenn, today is one of those days I wish I could crawl back into bed and sleep for another three hours.

message 42: by Bandit (new)

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments 51 this morning and clouds galore...if only work was more nap friendly :)

message 43: by Carl (new)

Carl I. | 608 comments Cold (30 degrees or so), and a light little snow falling. Not enough to notice.

message 44: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments High 48 today. Brrrr. I was freezing walking to work this morning.

message 45: by Bandit (new)

Bandit (lecturatoro) | 8821 comments It's a downpour, Philly is drowning today

message 46: by jb (new)

jb Byrkit (jbbyrkit) | 2035 comments It was raining when I left work this morning at 0300 hours....seems to have stopped right now.

message 47: by Tressa (new)

Tressa (moanalisa) | 19903 comments We had our downpour yesterday. Traffic was a nightmare.

message 48: by Brainycat (new)

Brainycat | 409 comments It's mostly clear with scattered cirrus clouds. Which is better than scattered cirrhotic clowns, I guess. But without our grey blanket I expect it'll get nasty cold tonight.

message 49: by Carl (new)

Carl I. | 608 comments Snow picked up since I was on this morning, and there is a slight dusting on the ground.

message 50: by Amy (new)

Amy (bibliocrates) | 426 comments So the stupid news said that Madison County schools were delayed for 2 hours yesterday morning due to the downpour and tornado watches, so I left the kids home at 8am, went to take a final, returned around 10, and they had informed me that, no, school was not delayed. Argh! Anyway, I let them stay home since they were so late.

It sure got cold here last night. It was 32 degress when I got off work.
