Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1625 comments thats a nice choice of books!!

i have read one book by meredith Duran. Bound by Your Touch it was about 2 yrs or so. i dont remember the story to detail, but its a good light read.

the one i would suggest IMO is The Duke of Shadows by Meredith Duran DOS! it has a very different plot and scenery. different from the typical regency England setting. and it looks very interesting. the yr it was released it won a couple of awards.. so .. its gets some pts right?

hope u come thru with the list!! ;)

Happy reading!!

 Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Thanks, Atumn. I hope I can get these read too. I'm excited to finally read DOS. I love historicals with atypical locations and multcultural characters.

Annie (annjordan) | 73 comments Danielle - Duke of Shadows is my favorite book by Meridith Duran. It was different. Loved the setting and the characters.

I hope you get to Lisa Kleypas' Travis series. All three books were the best of hers.

Good luck with your challenges for the coming year.

I'm looking forward to the DOS.

 Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Urban Fantasy Group Challenge #4 (signed-up)
Challenge # 4 will run from January 1, 2011 to March 31, 2011.

- YOU CHOOSE YOUR OWN BOOKS TO READ. Only trick is that you have to already own the book, be able to get it at the library, or borrow it during those three months. If you don't have any books on your TBR shelf at home or don't have access to a library and still want to participate, pick up four new books if you wish.

If you want to change your selections at any time, that is fine.

Here are the categories for the book selection process - please note that these categories are slightly different than the last challenge and there are Optional Add'l Book selections for those who wish for a bigger challenge:

(Definition of Urban Fantasy for this challenge: books with a vampire, werewolf, witch, or fae character or set in a UF world with some other mythical character or skill set)

* 1 Urban Fantasy Title
* 1 Urban Fantasy Title featuring a male lead character
* 1 Other Fantasy OR Paranormal Romance Title (not strictly UF)
* 1 Other book by an author you've never read before (expanding your horizons!) - any genre

* Optional Add'l Book - Featuring Zombies
* Optional Add'l Book - Post-Apocalyptic OR Dystopian theme
* Optional Add'l Book - Cover Hunt: Book with blue as the primary cover color

Please post in this topic ("yes, I am going to participate" or something like that) if you are going to do this challenge so I can compile a list of participants. You may join the challenge up to the final day of March.

 Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Dangerous Hero Addict Suppport Group 2011 Mega-Challenge
Duration: January 1-December 31, 2011
Rules: There are three levels. Members can do all three levels or pick and choose which ones. If a member finishes any and all levels, they can start over again. The tiers can have overlapping books. The books must be read between January 1-December 31st. The books must have some connection to dangerous heroes/characters. The purpose of this challenge is to engage/encourage members' love of bad boy/dangerous characters in fiction. For the purposes of these challenges, the books can be any fiction genre, but romance is preferred.

Tier I: Rank Your Bad Boys/Dangerous Heroes
For this level of the challenge, refer to the Dangerous Hero Scale:
Dangerous Hero Scale
10:Completely lethal, seemingly remorseless, has no problem killing to get the job done, or killing as the job. Killing someone doesn't phase him. It's either him or them and don't let someone be after someone he loves. More or less amoral-except when it comes to things that have true value to him (like his heroine or his family). The mission is all that matters to him (at least until he falls for his heroine).
9:Not the guy to mess with. He has few boundaries he won't cross.
8:He can be ruthless. Not above doing almost anything for self-promotion. Has and will betray those close to him if needed. He has a code, but it's his own code--not necessarily in line with established laws, rules, or mores.
7:Most people would probably consider him insane or crazy, or just kinda whacked in the head. A scary guy.
6:Ruthless to get the job done, or to get what he wants/needs/or to protect others.
5:A hero who still has the aura of a bad boy, but is more laid back and open and not necessarily quite as ruthless. Any hero who has stalkerific tendencies is automatically a 5. He's not the type that is completely unpredictable.
4:He has shown that those who mistake him for a ordinary, nice guy are wrong. He'll surprise you!
3:He will do 'bad' things for reasons he feels is necessary, and not feel too much regret about it. He has no problem claiming, kidnapping, or taking his heroine when the situation calls for it.
2:Slightly more volatile than a 1. Most of the time he is very well behaved, you just don't want to get him riled up!
1:mild-mannered most of the time, but when his fuse gets lit, watch out. He becomes the most dangerous man in the room.

Rank the heroes from ten books with dangerous heroes that you read in 2011 from 1-10 according to their dangerous hero quotient.

Tier II-How Well Do You Know Your Dangerous Hero Types?
Purpose: Read a book with each of the different types of Dangerous Heroes from the Master List:

Types of Dangerous Heroes/Bad Boys
1.Assassin (Contract Killer)
2.Modern Soldier (includes Mercenary)
3.Seducer/Heartbreaker/Womanizer
4.Stalkerific Hero
5.Tortured Hero (can be any of the above but major classification is tortured)
6.Criminal (Thief/Gangster/Illegal Enterprises)
7.Law Enforcement
8.Gunslinger/Outlaw/Pirate
9.Historical Warrior (Highlander/Knight/Native Warrior/Viking/Warlord/Soldier)
10.Spy

16.Bodyguards/Protectors
17.Sportsmen/Athletes/Bikers
18.Rakehell/Rake
19.Emperors/Kings/Dukes/Other Powerful and Titled Heroes

Tier III: Bad Boys Around the World. Read Fifty Books in 50 different geographic locations with some kind of dangerous hero/bad-boy type. The locations can be in the same country, but must be in a different state or city.

 Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 3737 comments Danielle's Dangerous Hero Addict Suppport Group 2011 Mega-Challenge
Duration: January 1-December 31, 2011
Update: 1/3/10
Tier I: Rank Your Bad Boys/Dangerous Heroes

6= Qhuinn (51)
7= Muhrder, Vishous or Zsadist (52)
8= Thorment, Lassiter, Blaylock and Rehvenge (53)
11= John Matthew (56)

Those of you who love Brothers with short names (less than 6 characters) are obliged to read one or two bonus books (depending on the character name) to get their total to 52.

Bonus book# 1: Read a book of a series that has at least 9 books.
Bonus book #2: Read a book that features both vampires and shifters.

Tier I: Rank Your Bad Boys/Dangerous Heroes
