Grace Elliot (httpwwwgoodreadscomgraceelliot) | 11 comments Hi there,
I update my blog twice a week and today received a comment saying they'd found my site on a 'Blog hop.'
I've no idea what a blog hop is and how it works.
Does anyone know?
How do you take part?
How do you know who's taking part?
It seems quite a cool idea for creating more interest.
I look forward to being enlightened!
Grace x

Paul Keefe (paulkeefe) | 11 comments A blog hop is a list of related blogs that you can "hop" to. A YA blog hop, for instance, might be a set of blogs on YA novels. You would sign up for one on the master blog that created the hop. I don't think you normally know who is taking part. You just bounce from one to the next and hope to discover something fascinating.

David, YA = Young Adult. Usually middle school to high school age. I known because I write YA fantasy. :)

Susan Roebuck (sueroe) | 9 comments There's one going on at the moment if you want to take part: Check out here: http://tinyurl.com/2u2wd3n and there're links to the others in the hop. That's my blog, btw, but it's linked to the giveaway hop (get free books from blogs). I find these hops add a couple of followers, but not many more.

I'm with David about not understanding "Blog hops". How could that help an author?

I'm very connected through many social media sites, do giveaways, contest, blog tour etc.,but unable to gauge the effect on sales or growth in name recognition.

Granted I enjoy the interaction, getting to know new people and look forward to it, but I'm still an author with a business to run. I would have to see or understand some benefit of a 'blog hop' before spending hours more hours going from blog to blog to blog just leaving my name.

Don't feel bad, David, young isn't in my personal vocabulary either. :) Nor is 'adult' my 22 year old calls me "Old"!

At 51 I've been drawn back into childhood by writing YA, despite what my daughter says. So I may never grow up.:)
