Kristina Simon (kristinasimon) | 11206 comments I read several books for the Fall Challenge that ended up being 5-star reads for me. Here are the highlights:

First up, two from one of my favorite authors, Nora Roberts:
Savor the Moment (Bride Quartet, #3) by Nora Roberts and The Search by Nora Roberts - I'll definitely be reading the last book of the Bride's Quartet - Happy Ever After (Bride Quartet, #4) by Nora Roberts - for the Winter Challenge.

Others that I really, really enjoyed include:
The Complete Maus by Art Spiegelman by Art Spiegelman - I ventured into graphic novels for the first time in the Fall Challenge. This one was my favorite.
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini by Khaled Hosseini - I loved The Kite Runner and I loved this one, too!
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot by Rebecca Skloot - This is one of the most fascinating popular science books I've read in a long time. Well worth the time.

Some of my front runners were:
The Ghost Map: The Story of London's Most Terrifying Epidemic--and How It Changed Science, Cities, and the Modern World
Ragtime
Glasshouse
When You Reach Me
Let the Right One In

All of which were by authors new to me, so now I have a ton of new authors to explore for the winter challenge!

Some of my 5 stars were

Into Thin Air: A Personal Account of the Mt. Everest Disaster. I read this on my kindle as a "treadmill" book - and it was a good one for that - I kept saying to myself that if they could struggle up Mt. Everest, I could SURELY go another 5 or 10 minutes, LOL! He was climbing in Nepal, which is on the list for 30.3A. Would also work for 5.6, 5.9, 10.2, 30.2A.

The Unit This would work for 30.3A, since it takes place in Scandinavia, and for 15.1B, since it's set in the future.

The Book Thief 5.6, 5.9, 15.1A, 15.3B

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Red!

Oryx and Crake and The Year of the Flood - both set in the future, so would work for 15.1B. Oryx and Crake also works for 5.6 and 5.9

Jessie Marie (jessiemreads) My Favorites from the Fall Challenge were:
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. If it were not for the SRC, I likely would never have found this book, nor read it. Really, really good.

WAR by Sebastian Junger (GoodReads Author) This was a real eye-opener for me.

Still Missing by Chevy Stevens (GoodReads Author) I was thoroughly creeped out for days while and after reading this. Gave me the goosebumps, which I greatly appreciated.

Mistress of Rome by Kate Quinn (GoodReads Author) This was really good, too and I can't wait for her next to come out next spring. Will definitely need to find a place for it in the Spring Challenge. ^^
