I saw this thread in another goodreads location and thought this was a good idea for a thread here (for the bit of Andy Rooney in all of us).

Here we can talk about all those things we do not care for or could care less about.

Here is a beginning list for me:

Gambling
Finger pointing politicians
Hannity and O'Reilly
Whatever Sarah Palin is doing or not doing (including her family)
Video Games
Newt Gingrich
I guess I will throw Nancy Pelosi in there too to be equitable and balanced
That guy from the Carolinas - Joe Wilson

Erick this one makes me laugh too- hope inside air conditioning will have reached new heights by then - who knows with the pundits they may continue to debate it for 7 to 11 years.

North Korea allies??? Who are they?

Did they mean to say South Korea?

Michael wrote: "Oprah visiting Australia. I just dont care"

I guess that means you are not going to try and see her while she is in your neck of the woods.

The brain deads... A Palin quote...
She probably doesn't even know American soldiers fought and died there...

message 36: by Bentley, Group Founder, Leader, Chief (new)

Bentley | 44291 comments Mod
Andre,

I might have known. I do remember a quote that Sarah Palin had made which astounded a few of us anyway in the USA...but didn't understand Newsweek making the same mistake. You may be right; she may not know anything about the Korean War.

message 37: by André, Honorary Contributor - EMERITUS - Music (new)

André (andrh) | 2852 comments Mod
Newsweek quoted Palin - they did not make a mistake...

message 38: by Bentley, Group Founder, Leader, Chief (new)

Bentley | 44291 comments Mod
Understood and obviously she did.

Elizabeth (Alaska) Which she immediately acknowledged that she had mispoken. I'm not a Palin supporter in any way, but every politician does this, perhaps not so obviously, but they all do it. Sort of like Obama saying there are 57 states.

message 40: by André, Honorary Contributor - EMERITUS - Music (new)

André (andrh) | 2852 comments Mod
Maybe, Elizabeth, but mixing up the North and the SOuth when the are constantly in the news and one is bombing the other and with all the history between the US and both Koreas I still think it needs a lot of missing brain matter.
Anyway, things I could care less about.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I don't give a fig about the Palin's period, but it's pretty obvious people here care whether she mixed up north and south. I was just saying that I think, similarly, a future president should know whether there are 50 states or some other number.

message 42: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicoleman) what the health benefits for walnuts are...

I think that the media reflects what humanity has become...waiting to pounce upon anyone in the public eye for either making a stupid mistake or utterance and replaying it over and over again for everybody to make fun of...and boy do folks like to do that. It is obvious that Palin is saavy enough to be making a million plus a year on television and with the books and Obama is a bright guy - so I guess that is another thing that I could care less about..."whatever dumb things the media is bent on telling us to make everybody look bad."

So the media and paparazzi and every talking head are probably things I could care less about and I am going to throw in there macadamia nuts.

message 46: by André, Honorary Contributor - EMERITUS - Music (new)

André (andrh) | 2852 comments Mod
Oh sure, the media bringing us the stories as they see it fit.
Where has decent and investigative journalism gone?

message 47: by Bentley, Group Founder, Leader, Chief (new)

Bentley | 44291 comments Mod
Goodness knows Andre. That is probably why I cannot bear to watch cable news so called pundits. They always seem to be yelling at each other.

message 48: by André, Honorary Contributor - EMERITUS - Music (new)

André (andrh) | 2852 comments Mod
Like most politicians. They stopped thinking long ago, just react to what the other side is throwing in.

I'd love to know about Chocolate Covered Macadamia nuts...those things are delicious!

I actually love Walnuts, I just don't care what their health benefits are...I eat things because they taste good. Take Celery for example, it's supposed to be a great diet food...but it tastes like, well, nothing...can't eat it. Health benefits of food are great, I just don't really care what they are...I just want to enjoy my food!

My "could care less about" for today is Howard Stern being upset about a potential pay cut...

Celery is great in Thai or Indonesian cooking. But chewing just celery - hmmm - probably would make my ears grow like a rabbit's.
As to enjoying your food, I can't agree more. Chocolate!!! Give me Neuhaus!
