Val Nichols | 159 comments Yeah, Aiden Hettler would be a bit chancy...

My sister wanted to name her son Harrison Berry (grandmother's maiden name coupled with our maiden name) until her husband said everyone would call him Harry Berry.

His name is Sam.

message 52: by Siobian (new)

Siobian Harry Berry, I laughed out loud at that one!

message 53: by Val (new)

Val Nichols | 159 comments I think Harry Berry would be a great character name, maybe some small-town eccentric who kept all of his late mother's clothes.

message 54: by Siobian (new)

Siobian And ran a motel?

message 55: by Val (new)

Val Nichols | 159 comments Yeah! And lived in a big spooky house next door...

Wait, has this been done?

Actually, I was thinking of Harry Berry as more of a Paul Lynde meets Charles Nelson Reilly character....

message 56: by Siobian (new)

Siobian Ahh, I'm sure that would turn out much better! :)

message 57: by Sherry (new)

Sherry Val,you post made me laugh. When my dad was naming his children,he named us Sherry,Larry,Gary and my Mom put her foot down for the 4th .Her name was Sami, but we all call her Sam.

It was so annoying when he would call one of us because you could never be sure but you could bet that at least half the time he was calling the other,Anyway,we'd all come running!

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) Sherry, Larry and Gary? That's genius!

Hi and welcome Siobian and Isabella - I live in the UK so I'm abit behind with these posts (although technically I am ahead of you in time, lol).

The Book Whisperer (aka Boof) Oh good, Isabella, now you can be my posting buddy from this side of the pond.

Siobian Hi Boof, thanks for the welcome! Loving it here so far!

Val, that cracked me up!

I actually have two kids. The one I wanted to name Aidan became Jared, and when we had our second we couldnt decide on a name, so we let our firstborn name him. He picked Joshua. And so it was!

message 62: by Val (new)

Val Nichols | 159 comments Hey Lori, I've always liked the names Jared and Joshua, and that is so cool that you let Jared name his little brother! Of course I think that's cool because we let our oldest daughter, Zoe, pick the name of her little sister, Lily.

Yeah, its a cool thing for him to tell people that he got to choose the name. Thank god it wasnt something horrible!! Haa haa....

message 64: by Siobian (new)

Siobian When I used to teach 3 year-olds, we had a little girl whose parents let her name her baby brother. They had this cat that the whole family, except for her, hated because it was mean, dirty, and smelly. So she decided to name her baby brother Sebastian after the hated cat. He's in my class this year. Cute kid.

message 65: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Lori, we too let our oldest pick her sister's name she is Gabriella and she named her sister Isabella so that I would have Ella1 and Ella2 (as in thing One and Thing Two of the cat in the hat).

message 66: by Mandy (new)

Mandy I love the name Isabella, it's so gorgeous. I also like Gabriella, what a great combination!

message 67: by Val (new)

Val Nichols | 159 comments Lorena, do you ever call them Ella 1 and Ella 2?

How's this for a name...one of my students was named Sirr'Anthony - no nicknames, no shortening it - always Sirr'Anthony. Of course the more I said it the more used to it I became and the more I actually liked it. It fit him.

Tim (Mole) The Gunslinger (Mole) | 103 comments My brother named me and i wish he couldve been a tad more creative im Tim and he's none other than Jim well if i'd have been a girl sis would've named me Tina,I think my parents were just getting lazy!lol

message 69: by Mary (new)

Mary Powell | 15 comments If I had let my oldest son, Grayson, name his brother, he would have named him ELMO. lol He was 19 months old at the time. We ended up with Garrett, which is also a G name with 7 letters. Go figure. I also have Justin and Amber.

Tim (Mole) The Gunslinger (Mole) | 103 comments I dont think Garrett would have appreciated the name Elmo when he grew up so good call and im sure his brother will have a few choice names that arent Elmo as they get older!lol

message 71: by Lorena (new)

Lorena (lorenalilian) Val - the look so much alike that I do call them thing one and thing two, Ella one and Ella two, Ella and Bella. They are always together, even though my oldest was 7 when the little one was born. Gabriella is Bella's hero in every way and Bella is constantly pushing the older to get into trouble "go take the ball from that kid, your big he won't mind", "get the cookies you are taller, mami won't notice", "read this book to me it looks creepy" ... yeah, and BTW she is three.
