Mages are not common on Terrene, but those that are gifted with the ability to see or work with the Strands can normally only work with three of the nine kind (except for a number of important folk...).

So - if you could weave the Strands - which three would you pick?

Green Strands of Life
Silver Strands of Soul
Brown Strands of Stone
Blue Strands of Water
Orange Strands of Fire
White Strands of Air
Golden Strands of Will
Black Strands of Void
Yellow Strands of Charge

Stone, Life and Water. I think it would be a good combination to help others.

Uriah - As good as choice as any. The question is what ways can your imagination come with to mix the Strands together?

Some mages that can touch Soul, Charge, and Life have learned to Weave the correct pattern to craft nearly-sentient lightning elementals. They're rare, but still.

What could be made with Stone, Life, and Water, I wonder?

As an engineer, I see images of many things: Fountains, aqueducts, fortifications, hanging gardens, it has the potential to be a sculptor's dream, cut the rock and then polish the form with water. You could even bring the creations to life or a semblance of it.

I see a lot of defensive capabilities in it as well. In addition to the above mentioned fortifications, you could create quicksand traps, even pneumatic spike traps, if you can create a network of sentinel rocks through your kingdom with the right ability to comunicate (changing patterns of lichens perhaps) you could have up to date information on movements and magic use.

The possibilities are endless I suppose as long as you can imagine more.

Now I just hope I get one of those first reads copies to check out what your imagination came up with. :)

And if magic wasn't outlawed in the Oaken Duchies, I could see some of the things you've mentioned.

Terrene's a big world, though... who knows what else exists out there, though?
