Jack has gotten his ship, and it is not what he thought it would be. The first time he tries to wear the ship (come about), she misses stays (does not have enough headway to complete the course change). Both Jack and the sailing master, Goodridge, are taken aback. How does this fit in (does it fit in?) with other aspects of the novel thus far, the discord between Jack and Stephen, Jack and Diana, etc. Any thoughts?
Jack suspects that his first lieutenant, Parker, is something of a tyrant. He wants no part of any hell afloat, yet also wants no sign of dissent on the quarterdeck. How might he handle this situation? Is he really suited to handling it?
Please feel free to share any thoughts you may have about the above or anything about the book thus far you find interesting.

This book was kicked off on November 1st.
This discussion is being led by assisting moderator - Christopher. During the discussion of Master and Commander, Christopher volunteered to steer us through the second book in the series. Please support him in this effort.
We always enjoy the participation of all group members. Amazon, Barnes and Noble and other noted on line booksellers do have copies of the book and shipment can be expedited. The book can also be obtained easily at your local library, and may be available on Kindle or audible.
