janine | 7709 comments straight from the bottle? in a glass? from a can? (ew) or do you prefer tap beer?

message 2: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Tap, in a glass.

If I'm at a show, there's a certain satisfaction in holding a bottle rather than a glass, and less likelihood it'll spill.

There are a couple of beers that are switching to cans right now that are good anyway, like my beautiful Rezzie:

Félix (habitseven) I prefer tap beer in a glass. A tall, ice cold glass.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I like mine from the bottle with a wedge of lime. I make sure the lime is squeezed a little so I get the lovely lime juice mixed in.

Jim | 6484 comments In a glass is best, I will drink it from a bottle though.

message 6: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments when out i'll drink tap beer in a glass. if beer is already in a bottle i'll drink it straight from the bottle. in that case, glasses are for wussies. i loathe beer from a can.

message 7: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Cans taste like ... cans.

message 8: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments i also don't like those fake plastic glasses that are used at concerts. they might make a nice crunchy sound when you walk on them but that's about it.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Draft beer from a glass. What's the alternative really? Maybe holding your head under the tap, I guess. Actually, that might not be so bad.

I drink bottled beer at home, although I'm really not much of a beer drinker these days. Canned beer has its place--tailgating, teenagers' elicit parties when parents are out of town, etc.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I had a friend in college who found the world's cheapest brand of supermarket beer. I think it was called Lion's Head or something like that. It was around five dollars for a case of twenty-four cans (including the five cent deposit on each can). It tasted pretty much like you would imagine...

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Holy Cow Janine. That picture looks like it belongs in the pillow talk thread.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Oddrun wrote: "But in those days the taste did not matter? Not for me at least..."

Didn't matter a bit. It was all about being around people your own age and having fun.

janine | 7709 comments Stacia wrote: "Holy Cow Janine. That picture looks like it belongs in the pillow talk thread."

well, it is a cross stitch pattern so you could make it into a pillow, but that's probably not what you're referring to.

message 19: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments I usually drink at home, straight from the can/bottle (90% bottle, 10% can), but I have some fancy beer glasses, too. I like beer in a glass at bars.

I also drink fairly quickly. If I'm gonna drink, maybe once every six weeks or so, I tend to want to get drunk. I've heard that a little alcohol every couple days is actually good for stress levels (don't have proof of that, though) but I don't know that I could drink that way.

I like most beer out of the bottle. If it is a nice rich stout I prefer the kind of glasses that are domed and frosty.

message 21: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) no beer. a nice red wine, please.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Sometimes I drink to remember, sometimes I drink to forget.

Jim | 6484 comments I have a really nice hand blown glass that I picked up at the SanTan brewery. It is my favorite glass to drink beer from.

it is like this.

message 28: by Jess (new)

Jess If I'm at a bar, I like drafts. At home, I get bottled. Cans are only imbibed if I'm at a party and that's all they have :(

message 29: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Agreed Jessica, a can is the last resort. Welcome to TC.

message 30: by Jess (new)

Jess Thanks for the welcome :D

What time is too early to have a beer?

message 32: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments that depends on the day of the week and if there's a special occasion. i like to think students get to drink whenever they want, regardless of day of the week or special occasions or the time.

message 33: by Félix (new)

message 39: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I drink my beer through a surrogate.

When I go to a bar, I always take along a friend who drinks. Then people won't bug me so much to drink, which they do until I tell them I'm the designated driver.

Good beer does. Bad beer needs to be chilled to disguise the taste.

message 47: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Intravenously please, if I MUST have a beer. I have never acquired the taste. I love wine though. I remember my hippy days when we'd drink wine out of a wineskin. Ahhh, those were the days.
