A member asked for recommendations for books with jerky heroes, although used the a-hole word. Can you think of some?

Bekah (bekah317) | 93 comments :-) This bodes well for secret santa for me! But you didn't like this book right?? I loved it. :-)

I immediately thought of Gray as well!

Fani *loves angst* (fanip) does he have to redeem himself? If not Potent Pleasures (Pleasures, #1) by Eloisa James has one of the jerkiest heroes ever. He makes an attempt at redeeming himself in the end but it's too lame.

Well, I liked the book in the way it was written but no, I hated Gray.

message 9: by Bianca (new)

Bianca | 84 comments Seth from Behind Closed Doors (McClouds & Friends, #1) by Shannon McKenna total jerk but makes up for it in the end.

Catherine Coulter has some jerky heroes. Sorry can't remember the books.

Also, Clint is Lora Leigh's Dangerous Games was a jerk IMHO.

Gray is the ultimate jerkiest hero. I haven't read one to top him yet.

message 12: by Bekah (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 93 comments Oh, man, Gray wasn't THAT bad was he???

What about the neanderthal stylings of Connor from

Standing In The Shadows (McClouds & Friends, #2) by Shannon McKenna ???

message 13: by Bianca (new)

Bianca | 84 comments Conner was a total neanderthal but he knew Erin was in danger when no one would believe him. I liked how obsessed he was with her lol

message 14: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) | 1084 comments Mod
He's pretty bad, Bekah....but I still like him LOL!

message 15: by Bekah (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 93 comments I liked him too! I remember reading certain parts in shock, horror, and ohmygodthatssoooohot-ness!

message 16: by Bekah (new)

Bekah (bekah317) | 93 comments seriously there were times when I was like..he did not just do that?? That series was great. The only thing is I didn't like Tamra's story..loved her in all the other books, but her book just was a trial for me to get through. Did anyone read the very last book? The missing brother?

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I would say that Diana Palmer writes some real jers, who kind of redeem themselves at the end, I love her books and they annoy the hell out of me at the same time!!!

message 18: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 704 comments I will go with Luc from Delicious (Wicked Lovers, #3) by Shayla Black . He was nice in the previous book, but in this one he just wouldn't listen and had his own preconceived notion.

message 19: by Othena (new)

Othena Darcy, I agree that Luc was a jerk but I still loved that book. I can't wait for Hunter's storySurrender to Me

these are some I've come across:
Derek Taggert from Kept
Danny Taggert from Unleashed
Ross Coleman from Sunset Embrace
Nick Allegrazza from Truly Madly Yours
John Kowalsky from Simply Irresistible
Luke McRae from The Love Of A Cowboy
Caleb Black from Only His
Wolfe Lonetree from Only Mine
Matt Fenner from Sweet Trouble
Russ Calloway from Intimate Enemy
Reese Barnett from The Sheriff'S Surrender : Heartbreak Canyon (Silhouette Intimate Moments No. 1069)
Alex Markov from Kiss an Angel

I definitely agree with you about Wolfe and Alex, Othena. They were real jerks, but I love those books!

message 22: by Othena (new)

Othena Anyone else have any to recommend?? I love this theme. :)

I'll think and see if I can come up with more.

Othena :) thanks Lady Danielle

message 25: by Bianca (new)

Bianca | 84 comments Even though I'm only half-way through it....
Declan Chase from Dreams of a Dark Warrior (Immortals After Dark, #11) by Kresley Cole is pretty bad! Kresley has a few hero's who start off jerky but redeem themselves in the end!

message 26: by AlbertaJenn (new)

AlbertaJenn I thought the guy in A Hunger Like No Other (Immortals After Dark, #2) by Kresley Cole was pretty much an a-hole.

And Stryker, the #1 villian in the Dark-Hunters, got his own book, One Silent Night (Dark-Hunter, #16) by Sherrilyn Kenyon .

message 27: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) | 1084 comments Mod
I could not finish Stryker's book....both he and the heroine were horrific.

Clayton was a real jerk! I wanted to bash his head in too many times to count. but I did love him and the book anyways :)

I agree! I disliked him so much I had to quit reading the book!!! I had to put
Seduce the Darkness (Alien Huntress, #4) by Gena Showalter
down for a while because Devyn was such a conceited, arrogant jerk I didn't think he (or the story) was redeemable. He was (just barely) and it was, tho.

message 30: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments Anyone have any recommendations for some paranormal jerks?? I would love to read some!
I'm having a jerky withdrawl!! Please help.. Lol

Sonya, I think a lot of girls think Lochlain from A Hunger Like No Other was a jerk. I loved him.

message 32: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments Oooo yes, he was on my list for sure! I really enjoyed that book!

He was pretty bad at first....So is Lothaire, can't wait to see how he redeems himself!

message 34: by Cindi (new)

Cindi (ourtrumpcard) | 381 comments Isn't that why we keep reading? Knowing/hoping they'll get over themselves?

message 35: by Deanna (new)

Deanna (stackshavemercy) | 4 comments I think Lochlain from A Hunger Like no Other was a jerk, but a totally hot sexy jerk AND Scottish to boot. He became more sensitive as the book progressed or I would've hated him and suggested Emma get some intensive therapy after the ordeal was over. My husband read the book and I know he thinks I need intensive therapy just for loving this stuff! ;-))

I haven't read the other books listed, but I wonder if some of those listed have more of a mean streak than just plain alpha jerkiness. I didn't really see that in Lochlain, but maybe that's just me. . .

message 36: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments I just started Seduce the Darkness (Alien Huntress, #4) by Gena Showalter and he is such a concieted jerk! Cocky, confident, sexy and everything jerk! Haha I'm actually really enjoying this book! If any of you know of more like this (paranormal) please suggest them!!

message 37: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments Oh and to add one to the list would be Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh
He is a meanie for sure, Mean Enough to kill the female lead! I really enjoyed this one also!

Sonya, I have to agree with you about Raphael. He is not a nice guy. Loved the book though.

message 39: by Othena (new)

Othena Kelsey Cole's H's are yummy.
I discovered Gena Showalter last year and I'm definetly going to read her Alien Huntress series. I'm glad to see them on the list.

Lora Leigh's H's can be jerky. I'd recommend her Breed series but they do need to be read in order.
*warning they are not for those who don't like explicit sex*

I thought of another historical to add to the jerk list. Dream Fever by Katherine Sutcliffe

message 40: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments Gena Showalter's Alien Huntress books are sooo very good! I didn't think I would like them as much as I did but I loved them!

So far I've read her Lords of the Underworld and a few of her contemporarys. I got the Atlantis series for Christmas.

I hope I live long enough to read all the books I want to read. I need to find me a vamp and see if he'll turn me...problem solved. ha :)

I also stopped reading it for months, but I did make myself pick it back up and finished it. Still hated him even at the end. Lol :)

The Breeds are great. I resisted reading them because on paper they didn't sound like something I would like. I was so wrong. I love them.

message 45: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments OMG LOVED Seduce the Darkness (Alien Huntress, #4) by Gena Showalter !!! My new fav jerky hero!! Please if any of you know of more heros like Devyn, do share!!!

message 46: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments Ok, I came across Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard !

I'm usually more into the paranormal books but this one was AMAZING!! The hero was a TOTAL jerk! The story is one I have never read before! This book gave me so many emotions! 5 stars!

message 47: by Sonya (new)

Sonya | 20 comments The above book I posted about is - Gabriel's Inferno by Sylvain Reynard
One of my Favorites!

message 48: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 161 comments I'm reading Any Man of Mine (Chinooks Hockey Team, #6) by Rachel Gibson Any Man Of Mine by Rachel Gibson, and I have to say that the Hero in this book is def a JERK! He's slowly redeaming himself, and I'm starting to love him a little bit...but man what a douche! (The book is excellent however, and I adore the heroine in it:)

Monica Maybe (monicamaybe) | 1 comments Pamela(AllHoney) wrote: "Catherine Coulter has some jerky heroes. Sorry can't remember the books."

I agree!

Also, the hero Royce from A Kingdom of Dreams was pretty jerky throughout the beginning towards the end, and he does redeem himself, but slightly, in my opinion.
