haha. you were thinking of me when you created this topic...haha. 4-7 should be read in order though, I was specfically told that. and it is true. =D

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 73 comments I like that Adam and the Queen were in book 1. It's sort of a fun little side story.

Regina (reginar) I disagree! I read #1 first (and it was really bad) and then I can't remember what I read next, I had no idea of the order and it was before I was a member on GR, but anyway, I read #3-7 completely out of order and really each book is self sustaining, there are enough recaps to figure out what is going on --- LOL I read #7 before I read 4 and 5, so 7 was the first time I met the MacKeltars. :) Anway, my point is the books are not so tightly tied together that you need to read them in order, but it doesn't hurt to do so.

Vale I am impressed you liked 1 and 2, I could not stand them! Those are the only 2 I have not re-read nor listened to in audio (I have re-read the series 3-7 multiple times and listened to them in audio multiple times). I think book 3 is the beginning of the worth it books for the Fever series and if someone really loves Adam, then perhaps reading 1 is worth it. And then if someone loves Grimm in #1, well #2 is worth it.

Regina (reginar) Probably. :) Unless you are an obsessive re-reader like me. :) And you will read the series over and over again! lol.

I just didn't like Hawk, I know some people really did and I found Adam really unappealing in book #1 -- and the whole killing of the gypsy woman, I was sad for her. What frustrated me about #2 and #3 was the KMM introduced charcters that she had intended to write stories about, so she develops their side stories and hints about their HEAs, but then nothing happens and we never got books on them! I would love more HL books.

Have you read Into the Dreaming (Highlander, #8) by Karen Marie Moning ? It is in Tapestry (Includes Dark-Hunter Related Book, #1; Highlander, #8) by Lynn Kurland . It was okay, not as good as the other HL books (like 3-7) but when I read it I thought I knew for sure what Barrons was! It was a perfect match, but KMM has stated that she wrote Into the Dreaming for a different publisher and as a result there is no tie in to the Fever series, although it deals with the Sidhe/Fae.

Regina (reginar) I felt like what the HL was in #8 (trying not to spoil it -- do you remember his role and what he was trying to break out from???), I read that and thought -- woah! This is Barrons. So I quickly surfed over to the KMM forums to discuss this brilliant idea and found that others had already thought abuot it, but KMM responded that it was not tied in.

Regina (reginar) Yes -- hopefully THAT question KMM answers. :) 33 more days!

Katie (skateanddonate) | 11 comments I think NOT reading book number two isn't a good idea. It reveals a major tie in with one of the central character in the last few Fever books.

message 8: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Which character is it tied in to? I have never seen a connection ......

Katie (skateanddonate) | 11 comments Dani

How? Can you explain? I would love to understand!

message 11: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (thesa) | 136 comments I was thinking there could be a connection to book 2 as well, but I wasn't thinking Dani. There is something about the Berserkers I feel could be connected to Fever. I don't know. At this point, I don't know anything anymore. I reread (or listened) books 1 and 2 a couple of weeks ago. I'm waiting for book3 from the library. I plan to listen to the entire series in order, then listen to the Fever series in order and I hope I am able to do it all right before January 18th!

I'm excited about the appearance of Adam Black, and all the McKeltars in ShadowFever! Woohoo! I'll be sad when it's over, though. I hope she gets started on that new series soon! Any news on that?

message 12: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) We should know that the new series will each be separate by more than a year. I may try to wait until it is all out.

So there is a theory that Dani is a beserker? I havent heard that before. She doesn't fight like a beserker. KMM has said Adam will be in Shadowfever? I love seeing tidbits of the Mackeltars in Fever.

message 13: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (thesa) | 136 comments No, not Dani. There was something about Barrons and the other men that reminded me of the berserkers when I read DmF, but after rereading TTAHW, I'm not sure anymore. Yes, KMM confirmed in a direct email that Adam Black and the McKeltars & wives, will make an appearance in SF.

message 14: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) Woohoo! I missed that part of her email.

message 15: by Theresa (new)

Theresa (thesa) | 136 comments No I emailed her asking if the rumor was true and she actually responded. When I get a chance I will share w/ group.

Regina (reginar) How cool!

I just saw this, on the KMM forums several people posted that Karen has said there is no tie in with #2/the beserkers to the Fever series. Just thought I would share. 22 more days until we know! :)

message 18: by Katie (new)

Katie (skateanddonate) | 11 comments That doesn't apply to the link I was talking about. If i remember correctly (it has been years since I read that book) the man is a Beserker, but the woman is something else. For example she exhibits the same speed traits that Dani has. So for linkage a reader might assume Dani is related by blood to the woman who married into the Beserker family who is then related to the Highlanders.

message 19: by Regina (new)

Regina (reginar) I think it is an interesting theory (I don't agree but still interesting!!) of course KMM and her editors are the only ones who know for sure and we all will know very soon. I was just sharing that some members on another forum remember KMM saying there are no beserkera in the fever series.

Adelissa | 5 comments I read kiss on a whim and then had to read dark to finish that story, then I read them in published order.
