Michael Gawlinski | 15 comments So what's everyone taking in the upcoming semester? I'm taking a course on Ancient Greek History, a course where I get to learn how to program in Java and am hoping some space opens up in a course on the history of UFO's and their effect on American culture.

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments i'm just going part time next semester. I soooo need a break. I'm taking Public Relations and Accounting 2. Boring!!!

message 3: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments Bleh Lauren, I HATED Public Relations! Good luck with those two.

I'm taking a film class, International Media, an English Lit class and Creative Writing.

message 4: by Kelly (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) | 696 comments Kelly, what's Animal Technology?

message 6: by Kailey (new)

Kailey (lukutuokka) Advanced Finnish Language
Forest Ecology (Bio Gen Ed Requirement)
Medieval History - Vikings

message 7: by Kelly (last edited Dec 22, 2010 06:24AM) (new)

Kelly | 308 comments It's basically a 3-hour lab that teaches proper techniques for handling animals. In Animal Tech I we learned proper restraint, animal behavior, How to do a Physical Exam, and how to talk with a client about their animal. It's kind of a fun class. I can't wait to see what Tech II has in store!

message 8: by Adam (new)

Adam | 83 comments Next semester is my last semester for my undergrad and I'm taking...

Introductory Modern Physics
Mathematical Physics II
Complex Analysis
Numerical Analysis
Senior Seminar II (which is my schools version of a senior project/thesis. I'm doing mine on Maxwell's Equations and breaking them down into a single equation to explain all of Electromagnetism in certain situations.)

message 9: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Physics I
Calc
Possibly Chemistry or biology. I pretty much hate my upcoming semester.

message 10: by Jen (new)

Jen | 111 comments im going for my masters in medical technology so Im taking classes in clinical sciences. I think I have 6 of them.

message 11: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Sometimes I just wish I could have started college taking the classes I wanted and having the major I wanted. My dream job is a book editor. But I live in a small city and I know even after graduation, I'd have to start at the bottom at some big company then maybe 10 years later be a book editor. I guess thats why I read all the time. I have the most boring classes ever! After graduation, I plan on getting into bank management training, then after that, managing my own branch. Exciting, right? Haha. I guess I just want job security and to be able to always stand on my own two feet.

message 12: by Adam (new)

Adam | 83 comments Job security is overrated, in my opinion. I had that and I quit a 48,000 dollar a year job to study what I really thought was interesting in the first place.

message 13: by Samantha (new)

Samantha (samhanson) | 179 comments Right now I'm signed up to take

Contemporary Global Cinema
Studio Drawing: Let There Be Light (though hopefully I can switch this for life drawing)
Imaging from Culture (I want to switch this for lithography)
Bandits & Outlaws: Crime and Justice in History and Literature
Postwar American Fiction
Screenprinting

Should be good if I can get those two classes switched.

message 14: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments I wish I felt the same way, Adam. I've worked my butt off since I was 15 and I just don't want to make the same mistakes my parents have. Theirs didn't have to do with college, but more so with spending money they didn't have. I've never been materialistic anyways (except I do wish I could afford every book on the planet!), but I just want to be comfortable enough to pay my bills, have an emergency fund, and be able to go out to eat or go to the movies when I want to. I would also like to one day have money to invest with. But we will see. Maybe one day!!

message 15: by Nicole (new)

Nicole (nkb992) | 35 comments Next semester I'm taking....

Literary Criticism (a Spanish class)
Italian 102
Motor Learning (a Kinesiology class)
Intro Psych as a Natural Science
Principles of Microeconomics

Wish me luck! :)

message 16: by alyssa (new)

alyssa (alyssalyn) This upcoming semester I am taking:

Intro Philosophy
Art Appreciation
Intro to Nutrition (none of the science classes I wanted were available!)
US History 2 (Civil War - present day)

message 17: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (jenna_marie58) It's so interesting to me to read the names of these classes. Some of them sound super cool and others sound ridiculously hard. haha.

As for me, I'm taking 3 French classes (contemp. lit, history, and adv. convo) and 3 Library Science classes (cataloging, public library administration and YA lit). I'm definitely most excited about the YA lit class... we read a different book every week!

message 18: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten I have to start class tomorrow. Can't decide if I'm excited or not. Anyone else have to put their nose back to the grindstone?

message 19: by Lori (new)

Lori Walker I'm starting today. I'm looking forward to it because I was beginning to have too much free time on my hands. Even though I'm a bit bummed because I just took up knitting and won't be able to do it constantly. I think it will be an OK semester. If nothing else, it will be interesting because of my new job TA-ing for a couple of classes.

message 20: by Amy (new)

Amy Harrison | 26 comments I just started today with one class: Intro to Ecology. Tomorrow I have American Literature, Rhetoric and Composition II, American History after 1865, and Western Civilization after 1648.

message 21: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Ecology is excellent :)

I had lab today. It was 20 minutes long, and my semester lab partner is Swedish. God loves me.

If only I understood Science:) My grandmother mastered in Ecology, so I should have some inside help.

message 23: by Kelly A. (new)

Kelly A. | 499 comments I've been to all of my new English classes and I LOVE them! It's so exciting to study something I actually enjoy for once in my college career.

message 24: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Amy-ecology is pretty easy to understand, everything just goes in a big circle. Take something out of the circle, and it crashes and burns.

If you need help I'd be happy to assist as well (I basically got a glorified ecology degree in undergrad/at work)

Yay for classes you like! My econ professor is awesome. Physics professor scares me, like he might not be able to teach effectively scares me.

message 25: by Kayla (new)

Kayla | 604 comments We've been having snow storms all week and classes have been cancelled for the first three days. Hopefully, the semester can start tomorrow.

message 26: by Lorren (new)

Lorren (llthestorygirl) | 10 comments I am going part time because this is my very last semester (hooray!) I am taking Biochemistry and Advanced Neuroscience Laboratory.

message 27: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Change of plans, I switched my entire schedule.

What would you be doing in "Nature of Mathematics"?

And Kirsten I have been having similar issues with teachers in the Physics department at my school! The funniest part is, I can tell they are very into their subject so they teach passionately. I am just not sure if it goes anywhere haha...

Nature of Mathematics basically teaches math that can be applied to real life (like budgeting) but also statistics, logic, and even historical development and how math influences the arts. I'm taking it to fulfill the math requirement for my school's curriculum. This is the class that is recommended for those that don't particularly like the subject. :)

message 30: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten Adam-I totally agree. My physics teacher is really into what he teaches, but he's so disorganized that it can be tough. Also, there are a lot of people in that class that don't want to be there, so that makes it hard for him, too. I kind of feel badly for the guy, he wants us to learn so badly, but can't seem to figure out how to make people care.

message 31: by Kjerstin (new)

Kjerstin (kjerstinkaye) I start class on Tuesday, and I'm pretty excited. I just recently decided to major in Literature and Composition instead of English Education. I loved all my literature and writing classes but hated my education classes. So my classes this semester are:

Beginning Workshop Poetry
Major American Novels
European Romanticism
Latin 102

Should be a good semester!

message 32: by Meg (new)

message 37: by Caitlin (new)

Caitlin I don't know what I'm taking next semester... Except that I'll have Eastern history and one more US history, for sure.

<3

message 38: by Anika (new)

Anika (anlynn) | 106 comments I'm taking American & British Lit from 1914-present (one of my core classes required as an English major), Jane Austen Lit and Film, Ethics (not too excited about a philosophy course...), and an education class called Intro to Teaching. The two literature classes should be fun, but I'm not too excited for the others.

Mostly on Storygraph | 21 comments Next semester: Postcolonial Lit & Theory, FINALLY. Also, a teaching course (required). :P
