Kristina | 2 comments Hello, I joined in April and started reading, but this is my first post. I'm looking forward to reading 20 more (or more?) in 2011. I write bad poetry, but naively think I can improve if I read enough of the heavy hitters and learn from them. Regardless, they're fast reads. ;) Here's what I read and reviewed this past year:

20. Native Guard
Trethewey, Natasha

19. Different Hours: Poems
Dunn, Stephen

18. Late Psalm
Sholl, Betsy

17. Sailing Alone Around the Room: New and Selected Poems
Collins, Billy

16. The Painted Bed: Poems
Hall, Donald

15. The Simple Truth: Poems
Levine, Philip

14. A Wedding in Hell
Simic, Charles

13. Kinky
Duhamel, Denise

12. Dream Work
Oliver, Mary

11. Your Native Land Your Life Poems
Rich, Adrienne

10. Slouching Toward Nirvana: New Poems
Bukowski, Charles

9. Medicine
Gerstler, Amy

8. Ooga-Booga: Poems
Seidel, Frederick

7. Ariel
Plath, Sylvia

6. The Volcano Sequence
Ostriker, Alicia Suskin

5. Nine Horses: Poems
Collins, Billy

4. The Dream of the Unified Field: Selected Poems 1974-1994
Graham, Jorie

3. Sun Under Wood
Hass, Robert

2. The Unswept Room
Olds, Sharon

1. Talking in the Dark: Poems
McNair, Wesley

Hi Kristina -
Great to see your booklist up. I hope you'll continue next year and post your reviews - I read a couple of them and love knowing what people think. I like Billy Collins, too. I adored Seidel's Ooga-Booga, but can understand it turns some readers off. I will definitely go and read your other poetry reviews from this list, too. Good for you for finishing the challenge - hope you found it worthwhile.

Kristina | 2 comments Hi Sarah,
Thanks for taking a look, and for keeping this group going. I intend to step up my pace a bit--perhaps even squeeze in something else of Seidel's and give him another shot.
