Welcome aboard, Laraine.
Now is a good time to get into classics, since so many are available for free as ebooks and online reads.

I am new to classics (at least the teen/adult classics) I look forward to reading and understanding more of the classics!!!

(sorry for not being online I have been revising for my exams which start in two weeks so will not be on so much till after June.)

I recognize a couple of you :::::waving:::::: I'm Kristine, I live in Utah and I am taking baby steps into the classics. I read Pride and Prejudice for the first time this year. I guess I have read a few others that would be considered classics but a favorite, hard to say.

My favourite book that falls under both classics (as in books) and classics (as in Greek) is The Iliad.

Hi
I am a homeschool mom from Alaska and an avid reader. This next year my # 2 daughter will be in 9th grade and will start working on some of the classics in literature. I am hoping for some good ideas on her first attempt at classic literature. The last thing I want is for her to attempt a really boring or off-putting classic and have her turned off by this genre. So, her and I will read or listen to them together.
We both have eReaders and iPods. When we travel in the truck we will listen to a book and other times we will read our eBooks.
We may even do fun things like read Pride and Prejudice and then read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
So any suggestions or pointers on good teen first classic reads are definitely welcome. If this is not the right club for this ... you all can point me in the right direction for that too!
Thanks

Great! Thanks for the tip I will suggest adding
Murder on the Orient Express to our list of to-reads for the classics.

Welcome to the new members. I apologize for my lack of presence. My online time has been curtailed, so I don't get to come on Goodreads as much. I look forward to chatting about classic with everyone.

I m Tania, from Luxembourg (not the canadien or American one but the european one) and I am book addicted.
(now it s your turn to nod please ;))
I m glad I found you guys!
I got this whole bunch of classics books, becoz I always wanted and still want to read them, but never get to it. So now, I hope you all do a lot of pressure on me to get me start.
But I saw you were reading wurthering heights and Emma, both I ve read already, so I think I m not that bad ;)

You re too nice ;)
Look what you already read and then my two books...
But be prepared, I intend on catching up with you ;D

My name is Verena, originally from Germany, now living in WA. Two kids, two pets, one husband. The kids and I go to the library about once a week where we check out as many books as will fit into our special 'library bag'. I am always looking for new books to read - particularly when I am #342/350 on the wait list. I have many favorite books but I love classics and historical fiction (especially Hispanic). Don't care for romance novels ... at all. So no Nora Roberts or Nicholas sparks here ;-)
