Isn't this book incredible?! It shouldn't work...a man lying in a hospital bed comprising the main action...and yet is does! I love Tey! Wish she'd written more! (You can delete this if it interferes with your post numbering!)

Thanks for commenting -- and no worries on the post numbering! Yeah, I didn't know much about Richard III and got confused a lot at first, but the dialog between Grant and his nurses/friends/etc. made the book great. I hadn't read any Tey and I gather she died the year after this book, but I'll have to check out her earlier works.

Her books are always surprising (a quality I find rare!). I like all her books, but "Brat Farrar" and "The Franchise Affair" are my other favorites. They are definitely worth reading!

I thought it was pretty good ... not Winchester's best writing effort, but definitely a compelling narrative.
