Megan | 1285 comments I understand what you're saying CaroB, I would have been lost too. Fortunately, I figured that I would just read Jeaniene Frost's books as released. I recommend stopping and reading the 2 Night Huntress World books. Of course, you don’t have to, I’m biased because my absolute favorite was Eternal Kiss of Darkness. Hope that helps! :o)

message 452: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments That's what I've decided too Megan, after my little rant and vent earlier, sorry. I'll leave the Cat & Bones book where I'm up to for now.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments I'm reading The Rogue Report by Barbara Dawson Smith . So far it's alright. Never read this author before.

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Lori Foster has always been a hit-n-miss author for me, but I'm really liking When You Dare (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor, #1) by Lori Foster . The hero, Dare, is a great character and Molly has a lot of grit.

message 455: by Heather (last edited Aug 12, 2011 05:49AM) (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Finished When You Dare. Liked it a lot and I plan on continuing the series soon.
Picking up City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare on audio and Animal Magnetism (Animal, #1) by Jill Shalvis on my kindle. Hope City of Bones turns out to be as good as a lot of people claim it to be.

message 456: by Kristi (new)

Kristi (kristicasey) I know who you're talking about. The positive side, though when I'm grumping it's the last thing I want to hear so I understand if you virtually slap me...Anyways, the positive side is that there's only 2 books from that series out. So, it'll be easy catching up. Go ahead, slap me for butting in on your grump. I would. ha ha!

message 457: by Zoe (new)

Zoe Still reading A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin , which is better than I thought it would be, and Can't Stand The Heat - which is pretty long for a romance and I'm not loving the main characters, but I'll give it a shot.

When September rolls around, I'm joining a challenge just to get a few more books read!

Kristi, was that for me? I'm already halfway through the first Night Huntress World Book, you're right it wont take me long to catch up :-)

message 459: by Heather (new)

Heather (messybar) | 1307 comments Still working on City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments #1) by Cassandra Clare . I'm not a huge Jace fan as of yet.

Read Animal Magnetism (Animal, #1) by Jill Shalvis ; thought it was a light, easy read, but it didn't ring any major bells.

Just finished Out Of Her League (Suspense Series, #1) by Kaylea Cross . Other than some irritating nicknames, I really loved this story. Looking forward to reading Kaylea Cross's other work!!

Yes it was. I'm sorry. Sometimes when I hit reply, it doesn't always add the quoted part. Ugh! Then I look like an idiot shooting out statements that seem as if they're coming from nowhere.

And it should've said, "I know what you're talking about." LOL!

Though it was at 735am, so maybe I hadn't finished my first cup of coffee yet. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself. ha ha!

I've been advised by some stone cold Cat and Bones fans to read the books from the spin-off series before This Side of the Grave. I agree with you. Why must we read books from a spin off series in order to keep up on who's dating who?!

message 463: by Ann (new)

Ann Noell (fantasyannie) I finished The Blood of Roses (Highlands, #2) by Marsha Canham

now reading The Secret History of the Pink Carnation (Pink Carnation, #1) by Lauren Willig

I think a few people are feeling the same Michelle. I've been reading some reviews and that seems to be the consensus.

Lina | 5563 comments Ann, I've had the Pink Carnation series on my TBR pile for a little while now, but haven't started it as yet. I'd be interested to know what you think.

so far so good, it is a story in a story. It starts off in today but then goes back in time; it is not time travel there are just two stories going on. I don't want to say to much, I don't want to spoil it for anyone.

Ann, They don't have that one at my library, but I put a request in for The Mischief of the Mistletoe (Pink Carnation, #7) by Lauren Willig .

Kelley (shewolf0316) Lisa Kay wrote: "Ann, They don't have that one at my library, but I put a request in for [bookcover:..."

Just a heads up, this is a series MUCH better read in order. Especially since there are two time lines being covered in each book. Each historical timeline story is relatively stand alone though they do occur chronologically and there are a lot of references to previous books, especially the big reveal about who actually IS the Pink Carnation. You read them out of order and that surprise is totally ruined for you.

The contemporary timeline is a continuous story that goes on through the whole series. You'll miss a lot not reading them in order. I've done the entire series except the most recent "The Orchid Affair."

rameau | 90 comments I don't know how I could be so lucky for I just finished reading two great books. Of the historical vein
Her Kilt-Clad Rogue by Julie Moffett
and of the contemporary M/M
American Love Songs by Ashlyn Kane
Since I asked, and was granted an ARC I might have to read this next:
A Scandalous Proposition by Wendy Soliman

message 480: by Lina (new)

Lina | 5563 comments rameau, how do you ask for an ARC?

I joined NetGalley and requested a promising (=pretty cover, I'm so shallow) book.

Kit★ (xkittyxlzt) | 1416 comments Bout halfway through An Affair Before Christmas (Desperate Duchesses, #2) by Eloisa James . It's good so far, but the heroine is a little strange to me, a huge prude, and at times I wanna smack her :)

You're welcome, the registering process was a little tiring, but I had someone walk me through it.

Kit, Eloise James, I know that name but I can't remember loving any of her work. Maybe I've just all the wrong ones.

Tracey Smith | 415 comments Currently reading the BOM for Sept Bound by Night by Amanda Ashley . Hadn't realized I had already read a few by this author until I went to find this book and saw a few covers I recognized. Was not actually a huge fan of Immortal Sins by Amanda Ashley but then I read Everlasting Kiss (Everlasting, #1) by Amanda Ashley which was better. So far I am enjoying the current book, if I do like it I may give a few of her others a chance

I really liked that one too, but I think I've already recommended you to read it a couple of times LK, lol! Finished An Affair Before Christmas (Desperate Duchesses, #2) by Eloisa James and it turned out good. Next I'll be reading This Duchess of Mine (Desperate Duchesses, #5) by Eloisa James to finish up the series. I read them all out of order, b/c that's how I came across them, but I think they'd flow better in order, b/c each book starts at the party that ends the book before it. Oh well. If I ever re-read them, it'll be in order. I like Eloisa James' writing style. She reminds me of Julia Quinn, but with a bit less cuteness, sweetness and fluffiness, and with steamier sex scenes.

Yes it is Tracey. It's the first book in a spin off series. The original series by Richelle Mead was called Vampire Academy, which is very good! Or, at least I think so!

message 494: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) I'm reading Girls in White Dresses, a collection of linked short stories that traces the turbulent love lives of a group of twenty-something New Yorkers. It's a delightful read. Like "Sex in the City," but smarter.
