That's what I thought, but when I saw

it was in the high school library... I guess that doesn't mean anything though... I can remove it

This book is definitely funny enough to count for Kellee's challenge this month. I found this list of items that Emily uses to test the limits of what the pockets of her dress can hold to be a particuarly humorous section:

Question- I am currently reading The Story of Mankind by Henrick Van Loon. It's the first Newbery Winner (1922) and the first GR edition lists it at 280 pages. But, that's wrong. There are 280 illustrations, and in my version, 483 pages. I'm not super concerned with page numbers, but that's a 200 page difference.

Kristen, what would you have me do when I record that?

We are going to go with most popular goodreads edition.. which I know can be painful in some aspects and then helpful in others. Just keeps things more... regular? And that book really looks dull... how are you liking it?

Meh. It's dull. The author is boring and dry, but thinks he's pretty clever. It's ... tedious. Generally I wouldn't say anything. The only reason I asked is because the GR edition lists 280 pages, which is only the illustrations. It doesn't actually include any of the text. My edition is actually the smallest published. All the others include revisions and additions, which makes the rest between 500-600 pages. (Glad I'm reading the original, not one of those.) So, the most popular GR edition is wrong, which is the only reason I brought it up.

Interesting. Maybe it's mentioning an addition that only includes the pictures? Is there any way to make a different edition pop up initially? It makes me feel bad when I see my status updates, because it tells me I'm like, half-way done, but I'm not! I'm not even 1/3 through it!

It's not a book that I would have ever even bothered to start, let alone finish, but it is the first winner of the Newbery Award, and I decided a few years ago that I wanted to read them all, so I won't be giving up. Bleh.

Karis, you already claimed thriller genre bonus for one of your previous books, was there a different genre you think could fit Clockwork Angel instead?
