OOOOOOH, I know! It's the gypsy that tipped me off.

I'll let someone else get it, tho. I have no books on hand to type a scene from unless it's the Lora Leigh I'm reading. LOL

message 102: by [deleted user] (new)

It's definitely a car wreck, but not a 5 star car wreck. More like a 2-3.

message 103: by [deleted user] (new)

I'd have to read one of the Anne Rice to compare, but I think it'd still be better than LL. At least Rice has a better grasp of English. I doubt you'd find lines like "The night was dark" and eyes darkening like dark clouds in her stuff.

message 104: by [deleted user] (new)

I think 1 erotica a year is my limit. I can stomach Harleys better!

message 105: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Ok, I'm lost. Has anyone guessed the title of the scene :)

BTW, I read Rice's SLEEPING BEAUTY series, yep, I'm twisted too. Have NO IDEA whatsoever why readers think it's good. Victorian erotica is not my style (reminds me of Thea Devine's writing and I do not like hers.

So, who's the gypsy? DANGEROUS OBSESSION?

message 106: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Rather, is the gypsy RAWHNIE?

message 107: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Hum, the author's not Busbee? Her gypsy wasn't a real gypsy.

message 108: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments hum, I have a book by her huh? Great BR author, hum...ok, I'm sniffing out the trail.... Be back

message 109: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Ok, WICKED LOVING LIES by Rosemary Rogers.

I've read it, along with the others, but it was years ago, and too many books later, I don't remember crap

message 110: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments I'm going to have to read RR again. Ok, my next scene will be from something probably nobody has read yet...

message 111: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments "Why have you agreed to become my wife if it is another man you want?"

Every line in his face was drawn taunt as he stared intently down at her, his eyes blazing into hers.."were you never lovers?"...

(her answer was a negative.)

"Yet you would come to me with no love in your heart, offering only your body." he pointed out coldly.

"...you confuse me" (heroine) ..."with your touch and when you kissed me"...

"So!" His knowing arrogant look mocked her. "Even while you claim to love another, you respond to my touch. Your body already knows it's master. In time, your mind will also concede the contest. Then you will be mine completely, for your heart will soon follow. I will have all of you...body and soul, and you will surrender gladly in the end."

"You speak as if you will own me." (heroine)

"I will, my Golden Eyes"....

message 112: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Ok, I'm going to leave 2 clues since I don't think anyone else has read it...

1. It's native American

2. and part of a series

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Red Hot guess! But alas, no potato ;<

message 115: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Ok, another clue:

If you want one

Smttenkitten, your guess was ALMOST right on the mark :)

message 117: by Sharon (new)

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Yes Ma'am. You get the honors for hanging in there woman.

message 118: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments Woohoo!! Ok, this should be an easy one... here is a summary:

Hero backhands heroine across the face. So, now her nose is bloody and face bruised. He makes her take off his boots. He demands she wash up. He takes off his shit and neatly folds it. He rips off her dress, and she attacks back, managing to claw his cheek and chest and draw blood. He throws her on the bed, presses down on her, and pins her hands above her head. He tears off the rest of her clothes, while she is fighting back. He smears his blood on her chest, then backs off the bed so that he is standing on the floor. He grabs her knees and pulls her to him, and rapes her....

And then my favorite part... "He collected the shreds of her undergarments and wiped them with the mingling of her blood and his seed. He crossed to the desk, wadded the garment, then began to wrap it in paper." (with the intention of sending the package to her father)

message 119: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments That's right!! It was my first BR, so I was totally wide-eyed reading this scene... I don't think I'll ever forget it!

Your turn. :)

message 120: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments I remember that scene!!... I know I've read it... need to do some investigating...

message 122: by SmittenKitten (last edited Jan 12, 2011 05:46PM) (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments I think that's as far as I got reading that book... lol. It's currently in my "in progress" (DNF) pile.

I will have to think of a scene and come back later. :)

message 123: by SmittenKitten (last edited Jan 12, 2011 06:31PM) (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments A ridiculous scene with a TSTL heroine:

"It was worse than her most horrible nightmare to have the grasshoppers covering her, crawling down her shirt, her arms. She shuddered, raking at them wildly while her horse neighed and stamped. The sky turned black as another cloud of them moved in. The ground seemed a wiggling, living thing as the insects spread across the prairie for miles, chewing greedily at the grass.

She couldn't stand it anymore! She had to escape!... The river! If she could ride her horse down into the water!

In a blind panic, she galloped toward the river in the pale pink dusk... Strawberry crushed them under her hooves as she loped. [She] heard them pop beneath the mare's hooves, smelled the scent of the crushed, mangled insects.... If she could ride down into the river, she'd be safe, wash them off...

She saw the sign, read the words, but their meaning didn't register as she plunged the mare across the crusted sand toward the tepid water. And when the words registered, it was already too late.

"WATCH OUT!! 125 MILES TO FT. SILL!! 3 FEET TO HELL!!" the weather beaten sign read... [Hero] yelled a warning behind her...

But she ignored him, feeling only relief that the grasshoppers were washing away, swimming for their lives...

"Quicksand!" she sheriked. "Oh, God! Quicksand!""

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Hum,
Verrrry interesting SmittenKitten....

message 125: by [deleted user] (new)

It sounds like something Connie Mason would write. :P

message 126: by SmittenKitten (last edited Jan 13, 2011 11:03AM) (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments Here are some clues!

1) Not a Connie Mason (*but a great guess b/c she does sound like that and I read a lot of her books)

2) Western/Indian themed

message 127: by [deleted user] (new)

My other guess, besides Mason, would be Cassie Edwards. Am I vaguely close? :P

message 128: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments Nope, this is one that I read... haven't read any Cassie Edwards yet... key word is that I thought the book was "ridiculous" :)

message 129: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 13, 2011 11:33AM) (new)

Oh oh....the Norah Hess one! Damn...title.... *checks* Marna?

(BTW & speaking of ridiculous, how's If Not For Love? LOL)

And Cassie Edwards does have lots of redonk situations like that. So you're in for a treat if you read her.

message 130: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments VERY WARM, but not quite!! Yeah, the Norah Hess one was ridiculous too, I'm working on a review for that one.. coming soon.

Yeah, If Not For Love will definitely make that particular book self of mine as well. :)

message 131: by [deleted user] (new)

Hmm...Tender Torment? (Heard that one's a scream.)

message 132: by SmittenKitten (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments Good guess, but nope. A hint: the author's name is an alliteration

message 133: by [deleted user] (new)

You're busting my nuts, woman!

Comanche Cowboy by Georgina Gentry?

message 134: by SmittenKitten (last edited Jan 13, 2011 03:38PM) (new)

SmittenKitten | 189 comments Ding ding.. you got it!!

Not a book I would recommend... TSTL heroine and whinny beta hero... and in this scene, I really wanted the grasshoppers to eat the heroine alive.

Your turn!

Sorry guys, I'm just lurking. Love this excerpt! I so need to read this book -- I'm off to find it ASAP.

Sharon (sharjonm) | 193 comments Next time (if I ever win at this game again and the prospects don't look too promising), I'm gonna give Y'all a snippet of the post civil war historical Vampire Cowboys and Indians book I just read.

Dottiebears | 6 comments I want to read the book with the grasshopper attack, it sounds like it's so bad it's good.

I still haven't guessed anything right yet except the stormfire one. Haven't even had a glimmer of an idea for any of the others!

message 138: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll give my turn to Dottiebears. I haven't a book on hand to pick something from. :)

message 139: by Dottiebears (new)

Dottiebears | 6 comments Darn, I'm out of town and have nothing with me--that's why I'm spending so much time on the computer! Someone else better do it, but I can do something next week when I get home.

message 140: by [deleted user] (new)

OK, I'll have to look for something and report back. :)

message 141: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok, this was a scene I didn't much appreciate at the time I read it, but as I've read more OTTWTFery, I've come to adore it mightily!

Chanting interspersed with the huh sound of people dancing and singing. The drums rose. The chanting stopped abruptly and began again.

There was commotion outside the oum'phor. Mam'bo Caille blocked the entrance. "De Guédé Vi ain't ready."

A tenor voice with a strange timber said, "Move out of my way, old woman! I am Lucifer, lord of Satan's Keep!"

(Heroine) sat up, fear mounting in her dry mouth. She saw Mam'bo Caille thrust down. A tall being glided in, a personage of immense presence. Sharp red horns grew in his bristly black hair. His ears were pointed like bat wings. A black satin robe covered him from his red collar to the ground.

The gaping slit that was his mouth opened in an evil smile. "I am Lucifer. You are mine." The head went back, issuing a mocking laugh.

(Heroine) whispered, "No--no! I can't--!"

"You will serve me!" The robe jerked. "You will! Costa, the robe!"

The old man swept Lucifer's robe off. He was revealed. A barrel-chested thing with no arms and no legs except the pale growths that dripped over the edge of the wheeled throne. On his belly was drawn an enormous phallus, half his own width, with its purplish bulbous end forming a point level with his reddened nipples.

(Heroine) drew in her breath and began to scream. Half on the alter, half off, she was petrified, her arms crossed protectively over her breasts. Then from between Lucifer's feetlike protuberances rose another phallus, pointing at her with terrible purpose. She could not stop screaming. Lucifer glided toward her, laughing exultantly.

"You are mine!"

I knew you'd know it! :D And I remember you thinking "WTF?" with that scene as well when you read it. Has your opinion changed? When I re-read it now, I was ^__^ and :D instead of the D: and O__o that was original reaction.

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 214 comments I'm thinking it's The Black Swan - didn't Dulcie get mixed up with some crazy voodoo shit??

message 147: by [deleted user] (new)

Correctemente, Tammy!

message 148: by Tammy (new)

Tammy Walton Grant (tamgrant) | 214 comments Ok, you guys -- most of my books aren't true bodice rippers, but I dug deep and found one (I've left out the names to make it bit of a challenge):

"Not quite!" he said with an icy smile. "I never gave my word. You did and now you're breaking it! Well, let me tell you, brat, I don't like people not paying their debts to me! We'll forget about your bargain all right! We'll forget about it, and I'll treat you like I should have when I first discovered your little treachery". Viciously his arms snaked out to capture her. And in that moment before he erupted out of the bed, the thought crossed his mind that women were all alike - liars, cheats, and betrayers - and this one was no different from the first woman who had caused him to be banished and sold into the British Navy. Sluts - every last one of them!

____ had seen his eyes narrow with intent a second before he moved, and she scrambled behind the table where they had eaten. A chill of apprehension slid down her spine as he advanced. She sensed that some strange emotion drove him, an emotion that she was only part of, and with growing dismay she watched his approach.

The black hair was tousled from her caressing fingers and the wavering candlelight created sinister shadows over his bearded face and tall body. His eyes were cold and icy and the tight line of his mouth told her that nothing short of murder could save her.

Slowly they circled the table, hunted and hunter, and searching frantically for escape or some way of halting him, _______'s eyes fell upon the goblet he had used during dinner. With a quick movement she grabbed it and smashed the top off in one downward crack against the table; she was left with the stem with which to hold it and the jagged edges to fight with.

A grim smile flickered through the gold eyes and he laughed softly. "Do you that that will stop me?"

________ nodded vigorously, her eyes huge with grim determination.

"It won't, you know," he said coldly. "I intend to have you, and nothing will stop me!"

He lunged across the table, and ______ had to leave its protection. Now there was nothing between their naked bodies but the goblet's glittering edge. She held it as she would a knife and cautiously backed away from him. Her heart was thumping madly in her breast and she felt almost dizzy. She must have been insane to have even suggested such a monstrous bargain and even crazier to have let things go so far. And as ________ continued to back away his mouth went hard, and the gold eyes glittering icily, he charged. ___________, started by this sudden movement, stumbled into a chair and was unable to regain her balance or protect herself. ______ caught the hand that held the goblet and twisted her arm behind her back. Propelling her across the room, he shoved her face down in to the softness of the bed.

The pain in her arm was excruciating, and for a moment, with her face buried in the feather mattress, she thought she would be smothered. But then the cruel grip was released, and before she could do more than draw in a great gulp, his hands captured her hips, and he partially lifted the lower half of her body from the bed. She struggled to escape, but he had one arm wrapped around her waist, holding her securely, and with a shock of disbelief and an odd tingle of anticipation, she felt his other hand slide between her thighs. Knowing instinctively what he meant to do, she fought even more wildly, unwilling to give in to the giddy ache that was stirring in her loins, but her actions aroused him further. His arm left her waist, and with both hands gripping her hips, he entered her suddenly from behind.

Helpless to free herself, not even certain that she wanted to be free, ______ was only aware of his big body driving into hers, and with horror she experienced a shocking burst of pleasure as he continued to thrust himself deep within her. And then this half-savage, half-exciting possession was finished as ______ gave a guttural growl of carnal satisfaction and withdrew from her. Between her legs there was a throbbing ache, and in her brain a raging fire clouded rational thought. Dimly she heard ______ say flatly, "I'm sorry, you didn't deserve that I should not have lost my temper....but, _____, I'm afraid you brought it on yourself." His cool uncaring ignited her turbulent feelings, and with a feral snarl, she reared up and swung blindly in his direction with the broken goblet.

_____, although he moved with the speed of a striking snake, could not escape unscathed. Her wild slash caught him diagonally on the ribs, down across his stomach and groin, ending on his thigh. It wasn't deep, but blood was seeping from the jagged wound. He back away from her, but _______ stalked him like a maddened animal, intent upon destroying that portion of him that had so recently taken her virginity.
