Chicks On Lit discussion

Book Mark Exchange is something we've done for awhile now. If you've done it before you know the drill. If you're new trust me it's a lot of fun.

If you want to participate sign up here. Then, everyone will make 10 bookmarks. Everyone sends their bookmarks to me with a SASE (self addressed stamped envelope) but the decided date. Then I divy them up so everyone gets 10 different bookmarks and send them back to everyone in their SASE.

IF you sign up to do this a few things.
1) Make sure you are committed to doing this, can and will do it. It really makes things messy if people sign up and don't participate it makes dividing things up and waiting for packages a nightmare.
2) SASE need to be stamped with atleast as much as it cost you to send them with as big of an envelope. I don't mind making up for a few pennys here and there but if everyone sends a business envelope with one stamp then I'm doomed.
3) Have FUN! In the years I have done this I have seen beads, yarn, ribbon, paper, stickers, magnets, quotes, simple, complex. It's a bookmark so don't put too much stress on yourself but enjoy the process.

also... people love to know who made what if it's possible (and I know it's not always) put your name or initials somewhere on your bookmarks.

Deadline to sign up is 1/14
Send off date is february 1st. Ill wait until the 7th and divy up and send off that week.

O sounds like a wonderful project. Too bad that I have all the aristic talent of a brain damaged cat. I had better pass or I might scare folks when they open their envelope. When you buy the book marks, maybe I will join in.

Irene, I got bookmarks last time that weren't homemade. I don't think it matters.....but let's see what Tera has to say!

I say handmade just because I don't want anyone to feel like they need to spend a bunch of money to participate. However, if you want to participate and truly don't feel a crafty bone in your body then of course you can buy them. Like I said I want everyone who wants to participate to be able to.

Please Please PLEASE remember to include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with your bookmarks.


Remember some bookmarks might be a little bulky if made with materials other than fabric so dont send an itty bitty envelope and .13 postage.

Got first set of bookmarks today! Melissa wins for first set (sorry no prize for that ;) and they are super cute. I love going to the mailbox now. so excited to see what is next.

Will be mailing mine out Monday - just can't wait - this was SO MUCH FUN last year. Without a doubt, they were all fantastically cute, clever, thoughtful... simply awesome!

Thanks for asking Rosemary! That's part of it (been better but I've been worse so I'm not complaining, lol) but my original plan didn't work out and I don't have enough time to figure out another and get it done in time for the mailing date.

Jo, I'm glad the news on your health isn't any worse. I'll be grateful for that! I messaged Tera that mine are ready to mail but having issues. Post office hours are my work hours. UPS won't do a return postage label. Grrr...

Nancy, does UPS tell you how much the shipping cost to Tera is? You can just use regular stamps on the return envelope to cover the price.

Glad your health is OK, Jo. Too bad you won't get to participate this time, cause I would really like a "Jo original" bookmark for my collection. ;)

My bookmarks should get out to Tera this afternoon if I can get to the post office before work.

I'm hoping to work on my bookmarks either today or tomorrow, but they are DEFINITELY getting mailed on Friday. (I'm such a procrastinator!)

Jennifer - the post office has regulations now on the size of packages that can have just stamps on them versus their labels. You can't just put a well stamped padded envelope in the mailbox anymore or they will pull and open them.

I didn't participate, but no one would want anything I make with my two hands. But, is there any way someone could post a picture of the bookmarks that were made? I'm sure many people would love to see them.

Really?! I've never heard of that or had that happen here!

First class is only up to 13oz. otherwise I can go with those prepaid boxes. Teachers have such a short lunch break or prep and its too far for me to get to in that amount of time, much less being allowed to leave the building! I'll figure it out. Hubbie is out of the country, so he's not an option!
