Dylan (dmfriend26) | 28 comments I do too. That's how I feel when I read Anne Rice. Poor Lestat. :(

message 52: by Fredstrong (new)

Fredstrong | 11 comments Anne Rice revolutionized the genre, for sure. I've read all of her Vampire Chronicals, New tales of the Vampires, and Witching Hour Chronicals. Charlene Harris is a very different trip, but I am hopelessly addicted to her series as well.

Kim | 1 comments I am addicted to Sookie Stackhouse series and just started the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Black Dagger Brotherhood will knock your socks off. NOt for the faint of heart or kiddos.

Katrina Michaels | 7 comments What is Tale of a Body Thief about?

message 55: by Kate (new)

Kate (katespofford) Tale of the Body Thief by Anne Rice is about Lestat, who makes a deal with a human who can switch bodies, because Lestat wants to feel human again. He enjoys a couple of days as a human, but then realizes that the guy he switched bodies with has no intentions of giving Lestat back his supernaturally powered body. I would highly recommend reading Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat, and Queen of the Damned (in that order) before reading this one. You really need to understand Lestat's character as it has developed in those three novels first.

Lestat is one of my favourite fictional characters- in general literature and vampire literature as well. You should definetely read anything that has something to do with Lestat!

Norm Applegate | 2 comments Blood Bar

Vampires don’t exist...yet, on the brownstone back alley side streets of New York, a vampire dies. Desperate, his lover turns to Kim Bennett, author Norm Applegate’s quintessential heroine whose passion for S&M led to celebrity status as a hell-and-back murder mystery sleuth who’s been there, done that, and then some. This time, Kim finds herself caught between a secret vampire society’s attempts to locate The Black Testament (a sacred document written by Jack the Ripper), the modern-day vampire hunters bent on their destruction, and a white knuckled journey of self-discovery that catapults her into the bowels of hell and the arms of the ultimate vampire.......courtesy of The Haven, New York’s ultimate BLOOD BAR.

People really hate me for disliking Twilight. That's weird. I don't hate them for liking it, so .. blah.

Currently reading the all-time vampire classic, Interview with a vampire. I find the the language in Slovenian translation a little odd, though, don't know if it's the same in the original, but the story is really good. :)
I'm planning on reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels as well, but at the moment, I'm enjoying the TV show far too much to start and spoil anything that might be coming. That's weird for me, though, I normally always prefer books to television ... oh, well. :)

Brian B Baker (brianbbaker) Tale of the Body Thief. One of Anne Rice's most unique vampire stories.

Dana Wright | 4 comments Have you read the Morganville series?

Brenda Pandos (brendapandos) | 2 comments Give The Emerald Talisman a try.

message 65: by Cathy (new)

Cathy (cathyezra) | 4 comments Luvssnape, Charliane Harris is a wonderful vampire series read. I'm sorry to say I'm NOT a Laurell K Hamilton fan. If you are going with Anne Rice, the only books I enjoyed were "Interview with a Vampire", "Lestat" and "The Mayfairs" (The Mayfair witches...so non-vamp).

I'm not sure what your 'type' of vampire story is so..

I enjoyed JR Ward , Chloe Neill, and Jeaniene Frost.

If you like were-wolves, I would also suggest Patti Briggs.

Cathy (cathyezra) | 4 comments Stephanie, True Blood is based on the DIRECTOR'S storyline (Alan Ball) vs. the author Charliane Harris.

I think both are good for different reasons.

message 67: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (steph_ravita) | 3 comments Ok if you're into manga and anime, Vampire Knight is a wonderful one for you! You can read it at onemanga.com and watch it at watchvampireknightepisodes.com.
As for books, the Sookie Stackhouse series, Vampire Academy, Vampire Kisses, Vampire Diaries, the Evernight series, House of Night series, the Chicagoland vampires series, Thirst series by Christopher Pike and Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz. There are many more but if you've read all of the above, then tell me and I'll give you more.

message 70: by Missyb (new)

Missyb | 12 comments Anita Blake for some serious vampires (not your lovable cuddly ones, but some you might take a liking to). Sookie Stackhouse for some great vamps, good & bad. For some laughs, Molly Harper's Jane Jameson series.

Matthew Cole (mattdeancole) The Vampire Lestat

message 72: by Matthew (new)

Matthew Cole (mattdeancole) The Blood of Cowards is free July 7th & 8th.

The Blood of Cowards is a short story about the vampire, Lazarus Kalon, who, on his way back to Atlanta to liberate his treasure before the city falls to Sherman's army, encounters three rebel deserters in the Appalachians. One of which, may be worthy of the immortal gift.

Nadia Kim (nadiakim33) Hi everyone. I'm new to the group but not new to vampires. I looooove them. Actually read my first vampire novel when I was 12 and been in love since.

Amanda Hocking has a series called My Blood Approves. I found it very twilightish and it was a good read. I say check it out. I honestly wasnt that big a fan of tale of the body theif, but it was entertaining to read for sure. I'm an avid fan of Anne Rice Vampire chronicles but my Fav was Queen of the Damned with Vampire lestat a close second.

Oh there is this one called Lost Souls by Poppy Z. Brite it's an interesting vampire story and for a long time was one of my favs too.

message 74: by Yaz (new)

Yaz (chulayazz) | 2 comments I would recommend the Chicagoland Vampire series by Chloe Neill. It's so far the best strictly vampire series I've read. I also enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse series.

message 75: by Merri (new)

Merri (blondiebehr) The strain. Scary vampires. No sparkling Edwards. Meet your maker or become one of them vampire books. ;)
