ROFL! Dang it! I've been found out. I picked that song just to shit RA.

I do like a bit of schmaltz every now and again and that one is right up there.

I have actually faded out the instrumental part on mixed tapes midway through, so that it wouldn't be on the tape. Is that sacrilege?"

It's not as deplorable as putting Talking Heads and Wings songs on your list.

You could always share your island with everyone's stereotypical idea of a gay man...

message 59: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Oh my God, I totally should have been born a gay man. My Broadway show tunes list on my Ipod is completely embarassing.

How about this version? It has both a smidgeon of country and a bit of an island feel.

I used to love the Kinks, Clark. Saw them play over on the West Side Piers, summer of 1986 or so. Great show.

10) Crimson and Clover - a good song that I haven't thought about in a very long time. Just found it on YouTube and am listening now.

I love them too, Jonathan. Now where is that long-rumored new album? It's only been 18 years!

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Clark wrote: "I love them too, Jonathan. Now where is that long-rumored new album? It's only been 18 years!"

Why the delay? Every time Dave starts to play, Ray goes over and turns off the amp just to be a pain, and so then Dave has to yell at Ray and....

Same old story.

They can't play nice. I saw them on the "Sleepwalker" tour and Mick Avory threw one of his cymbals at Dave then stomped off stage.

Um, yes. Still working. Who would come up with such a cruel question?

message 76: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments It is cruel. I am tempted to go back and edit my list.

Sarah Pi wrote: "Here's the start of the officially tallied Desert Island countdown: http://wtmd.blogspot.com/2011/02/list..."

I'm not complaining but how did a Love Spit Love (Psychedelic Furs side project) song make the list? Color me surprised.

message 81: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments I don't know how many people voted, but given the personal nature of this particular countdown, I wouldn't be surprised if some of these songs got only a couple of votes.
I mean, when they do "best ever" you're sort of saddled with the responsibility t consider what your choices mean to others as well as yourself, but desert island discs are really personal.

That said, "Am I Wrong" (the Love Spit Love song) was a good song and got a lot of alterna-radio airplay around here in the mid 90s when it came out.
