Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) The first readathon for this year will be held from Feb 19 Saturday 10 am US Pacific time to Feb 26 Saturday 10 am US Pacific time. We had two dates tied for the 24-hour reading spree - Feb 19 and Feb 20. Update (Jan 27): A poll was done to choose between the two dates, and the winner is Saturday Feb 19. The timings for the 24 hour reading spree are left to your convenience. You can start whenever it fits your schedule and stop when you wish to.

I'll send out an email as we approach the week of our readathon. The sign-up thread will open up two weeks prior to the event. There will be a discussion thread, where all participants can post their progress and cheer others.

Hope to see you there! Have fun!

Susan (superbookfreak) | 115 comments I think this is great. I will have to mark my calendar for sure.

message 3: by Tiff (new)

Tiff (utbooklady) | 65 comments I am definitely participating in the week long one! I am having surgery on the 17th and at home recovering for a month, so this couldn't have been better timed! :-)

message 4: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Awesome! I am def gonna be in the week long readathon! I never really had time to with the ones that are only a day long. Too short for me. :)

message 5: by Nancy H (new)

Nancy H | 561 comments I am so excited. I love these Readathons, plus this is good timing since I am going to be getting a new box of books that I will need to read and review within this time period!

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Shouldn't the sign-up thread be up now? Or am I looking over it?

message 10: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 247 comments Yay!!! That week I may get 3 days off!!! So more time for me to read! I will definitely be participating. What helps me is when I stay up at night and sleep during the day. Easiest way to not make noise is to read a book!!!

message 11: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Point made, Meghan. LOL. I will still have school that week, and I am performing with my dance team at two schools, so will have to manage my reading in every nook & cranny of free time :)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Zakiya, I've just put it up.

message 13: by Athira (new)

Athira (Reading on a Rainy Day) (readingonarainyday) You're right, Zakiya! I had the email reminder come in two days ago to put up the sign-up thread. What a busy week I had! Thanks Lisa, for putting it up!

message 14: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Aths: No problem! I figured you were just really busy. I completely understand that :). No worries!

message 15: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (deborahkliegl) I am going to try to participate. I say try because I have a kitty who is dying. I'm not sure when she will be leaving us so I'm doing a lot of TLC care. She has breast cancer and has been battling the disease for over a year. She's the only thing that will hinder any of this. So it's on my calendar.

message 16: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Deborah, I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. I love animals.

message 17: by Deborah (new)

Deborah (deborahkliegl) Lisa - Thanks for the kind words. She's given one heck of a fight and she's determine to stay with us. Part of me wishes she would be miraculously cured. The other part of me wishes she would let go.

message 18: by Lisa S (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) I understand.

message 19: by LynnB (new)

LynnB Have my starting stack of books put aside and ready to go on Saturday! I'm looking forward to focusing on reading - I've tried to schedule other things for times other than this week to give myself some extra time.

message 20: by Rossy (new)

Rossy (naughtybookjunkie) | 65 comments I'm going to start gathering which books i want to read. Last thing i need is to end up not knowing what to read next.LOL

message 21: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 137 comments ooh, thanks - that reminds me to put a book on my reader tonight, I just got it but I had to download it to my computer - transfer time for me :)

message 22: by ★Meghan★ (new)

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) | 247 comments I was getting all sad, but now things are looking up!!! We just lost a supervisor at work (which means that there would have been only 2 for a 24 hr plant)...but I just found out that Saturday night we have absolutely no lines running which gives me hours to read with a little bit of paperwork to do!!! :)
