If you're saying sorry MountainKat then I have to say sorry as well. Over 1200 book in my tbr and I haven't even listed them all yet. (anyone want to guess what my disposable income has gone on for the last 15 years?)

Only your disposable income? I feel your pain! =)

Kami, I found several that I am interested in reading! Covet, Halfway to the Grave, and Darkfever are at the top of the list!

D.G. | 4477 comments Pollyanna,

Wow, doing your recs was difficult! Like me, you like to read a lot of different genres but I confess I didn't know most of the books in your bookshelves. That's why I couldn't help but give you several recs in some categories. I usually like to recommend books I've already read and I also like to vary genres and types of books. Anyhow...hope you like these ones. :)

A. OUT WITH THE OLD
1. Pile’s O’Books - Emma (474 pgs.) by Jane Austen. I read Emma for the first time during my first trip to England last year and it really made my trip extra special. I remember reading the book while we were on the bus to Bath and a time when my husband wanted to take some pictures around St. Paul and I stayed in the little garden, reading Emma while he took his pictures. :)

2. Mt. TBR – The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (180 pgs.) OR Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen (168 pgs.) Gatsby is one of my favorites so I couldn't help but recommend it but I figured you'd like some other things besides classics. I picked 'Girl' because you already own it and I remember they made a movie out of it. I hope it's good. :)

3. Steadily gaining – Mistress of the Art of Death by Ariana Franklin. Isn't this an awesome title? I've read it a while back and really enjoyed it. I'm planning to continue the series this year.

B. IN WITH THE NEW
1. Cresting the Rise – Bobbie Faye's Very (very, very, very) Bad Day by Toni McGee Causey. This is a very funny series. It's about this human tornado called Bobbie Faye and it's action packed.

2. Reaching the Summit – The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. One of my favorite books of last year.

3. Its All Downhill from Here – As You Desire by Connie Brockway OR Across a Moonlit Sea by Marsha Canham. I see you don't read much romance but historical romance is one of my favorite genres so I couldn't help but recommend it. These are two of my favorites and they have a very different type of heroine (not the sort that sits at home embroidering.) Neither is Regency and set mostly outside of England so you may find the setting and the time periods interesting. :)

C. GO IT ALONE OR WITH SOMEONE
I'm planning to read both these books in February so please let me know if you'd like to read them with me. I've heard very good things about both and The Help has African American characters so it will be good for the monthly challenge. :)
1. The Help by Kathryn Stockett
2. The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

Emma by Jane Austen The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen Mistress of the Art of Death (Mistress of the Art of Death, #1) by Ariana Franklin Bobbie Faye's Very (very, very, very) Bad Day (Bobbie Faye, #1) by Toni McGee Causey The Name of the Wind (Kingkiller Chronicle, #1) by Patrick Rothfuss As You Desire by Connie Brockway Across a Moonlit Sea (Dante Pirates, #1) by Marsha Canham The Help by Kathryn Stockett The Knife of Never Letting Go (Chaos Walking, #1) by Patrick Ness

message 161: by Tuğçe (last edited Jan 29, 2011 05:55AM) (new)

Tuğçe Gökırmak (tugcenidasevin) Hi Sarah,

Wow, you have some to-read shelf there :) It took me sometime to check it out and I have to say I am still not satisfied with what I have come up with... Hope you can find something you will enjoy...

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books – Gone With the Wind by Margaret Mitchell (I have read this years ago and loved it, I guess I always like the historical romance novels anyway)
2. Mt. TBR – How To Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrely Sparks ( I find out that this book is in many ones TBR list, its a fun and easy read as I call it chick-lit with vampires, very nice ones ;) )
3. Steadily gaining – Dark Lover by JR Ward ( I actually gave this one 4 stars but only because I thought a few of the books in the series were a little better and gave them 5stars) for this one I also thought about JANE EYRE and ONE DAY which I both loved.

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise – Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian ( I wouldn't call them amazing but it is a nice to read series, quite similar to the BDB in the theme, I saw you like PNR so thought you might enjoy them)
2. Reaching the Summit – The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini ( read this one last year although it was a little sad I couldn't put it down)
3. Its All Downhill from Here – Waiting by Ha Jin (a totally different culture might hold your interest)

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. Good Omens by Neil Gaiman
2. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen
these two are in my list of book to read in February so if you choose any let me know and I will join you.

Hello LethalLovely. ^^
I went through your TBR and I have to admit it was a though choice to pick out these books for you. I haven't read most of them, so I was working on my gut and I hope you'll like the books above. (:
Also, this is my first time doind this pick-it-for-me challenge, so sorry for being a little bit rusty.

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’BooksWish by Alexandra Bullen. It has 370 pages so it might not be the longest of them all, but it seems like an interesting read (I even added it to my to-read list).
2. Mt. TBR A Taste of Magic (Magic #1) by Tracy Madison. It has 292 pages and from the synopsis seems like an easy and fun read.
3. Steadily gainingLooking for Alibrandi by Melina Marchetta. I've read this one a few years back, when I was younger and as far as I remember, I liked it. (: It's maybe more of a read for teenagers, but never believed in that kind of books classification – every generation can enjoy every book, it will just have a different view on it.

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the RiseWorking for the Devil (Dante Valentine, #1) by Lilith Saintcrow. I've heard nothing but good praises about this series and I'm preparing myself to start reading them also (I don't read much of series otherwise).
2. Reaching the SummitThe Reader by Bernhard Schlink. So i'm not sure if you'll like this one, because people who read it fall apart on two groups: those who love it and those who hate it. It's a quick read though.
3. Its All Downhill from HereVeronika decides to die by Paulo Coelho. This is one of my favourite books and I think it's a very different genre from what you usually read. It's not paranormal, it just gives you a wonderfuly new view of humans psych and their attitude to life.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
2. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.

I planned to read Covet this month, my rec from Tania. So I can read it and Halfway to the Grave with you, Kat. The Fever series is great. I have the last book in the series that I haven't read yet. On the one hand I want to read it to know what happens, but on the other hand if I read it, since it is the last book, it will be over and I won't ever have another Fever book to read. No more Jericho Barrons....sad :(. I loves me the JZB.

Ann (annabell123) Erin ~

A. Out with the Old
1. The Search - I have not read this book, but love Nora Roberts.
2. Cloaked in Red - I also have not read this book, but it looked interesting.
3. Happy Ever After - I absolutely loved this whole series! I think this last book was just as good as the rest.

B. In with the New
1. My Soul to Take - This is a really great series. I am currently on book 4, and I love it!
2. Insatiable - This is a great book too. I gave it 5 stars.
3. Vampire Academy - This is a great series. I am reading the last two books this weekend. It is YA, but everyone I have talked to has loved this series.

C. Go it Alone or with Someone
1. Message in a Bottle - This isn't on my tbr, but I do like Nicholas Sparks, so I would be willing to read this with you.
2. Wicked Appetite - This isn't on my tbr either, but I love Janet Evanovich. I am working on her Stephanie Plum series now, which is why I haven't gotten to this one.

Katherine (kebrand0112) Melinda, here are your recommendations:

A
1. The Host by Stephenie Meyer
2. Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier
3. If You Dare by Kresley Cole

B
1. Naked in Death by J.D. Robb
2. Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin
3. Heartsick by Chelsea Cain

C
1. Lilith's Brood by Octavia E. Butler
2. The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory

Let me know if none of these interests you. I will be happy to think up more.

The Host (The Host, #1) by Stephenie Meyer Daughter of the Forest (Sevenwaters, #1) by Juliet Marillier If You Dare (MacCarrick Brothers, #1) by Kresley Cole Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin Heartsick (Gretchen Lowell, #1) by Chelsea Cain Lilith's Brood (Xenogenesis, Books 1-3) by Octavia E. Butler The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Elise, thank you so much! I'm probably going to go with Dead Witch Walking. I see this series and think, 'I should read those sometime.' Maybe this is the time. Of course this is the challenge that I always order the books from the library so it depends on what comes in first. I also have to say that The Way of Shadows really intrigues me. The first review compares it to The Lies of Locke Lamora and The Blade Itself. If it is in that league, it is amazing. The Book Thief may be good, but I can't read about Nazis and Death in the winter. Maybe in the summer...

ൠSinful (sinful) | 20 comments Delicious Dee, hope you find something you like. I think there is at least one you can lookforward too. ;)

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books – Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine Frost – Girly, how have you managed to avoid this? Epic Vampire luvin. It's book 2 or 3 where they get really dirty!

2. Mt. TBR – The Wallflower by Dana Marie Bell. This is like crack to me. They are super short and I am embarrassed I like them so much. The new ones: Halle Shifters/Bear Necessities are longer and more polished, but it helps to know the folks in the Halle Pumas stories, makes the world building more complete...

3. Steadily gaining – Riding Wildby Jaci Burton. Again, how have you missed this? Hunky men on motorcycles. I've been drooling over tatooed Harley boys ever since...

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise – Angels' Blood guild hunter by Nalini Singh, I loved this book. Book 2 an 3 were good, but didn't live up to the first one for me.

2. Reaching the Summit – Leah Brooke Desire for Three This should be book 1 in the Desire, Oklahoma series.

3. Its All Downhill from Here – Sindra Van Yssel: Moving On this is book 3 in Bondage Ranch. You don't have to read 1 and 2 before 3, and I think it is the best. More mystery/action less bondage. Still bondage, but not as much bondage. I know you can read the edgier stuff, but this story is BDSM light.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. Recommend 2 books that you haven’t read and would be interested in reading. If your partner decides to read one of these, then you should aim to read them as a buddy read. Make Me, Sir by Cherise Sinclair (like you won't be reading it anyway:) , Half Hearts Sherri Desbois Everyone is ravin about it and I passed it up to review like a ding dong..

I'll give you a swapper one: Caressa’s Knees It comes out Feb 10th. If you haven't read Comfort Object you may want to. Jeremy pops in and out, but you don't have to know that story to enjoy this one at all. AND that story is dark. Jeremy is an ass for a long time. In this book Kyle is still the sweetie.

Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost The Wallflower (Halle Pumas, #1) by Dana Marie Bell Riding Wild (Wild Riders, #1) by Jaci Burton Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh Desire for Three (Desire, Oklahoma, #1) by Leah Brooke Moving On (Bondage Ranch, #3) by Sindra van Yssel Make Me, Sir (Masters of the Shadowlands, #5) by Cherise Sinclair Half Hearts by Sherri Desbois Caressa’s Knees by Annabel Joseph

Sue (knitwitsl) | 226 comments Tania,
You have a lot of books on your TBR pile!! I had fun going through them though and here are your picks.

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books – Beautiful Creatures. This is one of the larger books on your TBR that I read and enjoyed!
2. Mt. TBR – The Warlord Wants Forever. This is one of your smaller books that had a good reader rating.
3. Steadily gaining – Faking It. I really like Crusie's books.
B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise – Touch the Dark. This is the first in one of my favorite series!
2. Reaching the Summit – The Time Traveler's Wife. I really enjoyed this book.
3. Its All Downhill from Here – Relic. This is the beginning of a series with one of my favorite characters. It's a serious type of book, but I think written very well.
C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. The Darkest Lie and The Help are both books I would like to read (and one is on your list as well). If you pick either of these I'll read them with you!

I hope there is something in these picks that interests you!

Thanks for the recommendations!! My kids have been trying to get me to read Watership Down for a while, so I will try that first. If I finish that in time, I will read The Help as well.

Thanks again!

message 177: by Stormy (new)

Stormy | 144 comments Lady Kati,

This was a mini challenge for me because there is only one book on your TBR that I have read (though we have a number of books that we've both read), but hopefully you can find something here that will really appeal to you.

A. Out with the Old
1. Piles O'Books - Kushiel's Dart - I haven't read this, but it's one of the longest on your TBR and compared to what you have read, looks like it would be right up your alley.

2. Mt. TBR - Giving Chase - a quick 189 pager, looks interesting.

3. Steadily gaining - Born of Ice - okay, so this is it. The only book on your TBR that I've read. Luckily, I enjoyed it. It is book number 3 in the series and it wasn't my favorite. In truth, I'd recommend starting with Born of Night, which is the first book of the series and a 5 star read for me (in a world where I rarely give anything 5 stars).

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise - Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead - looks like you haven't tried Mead yet and while her Vampire Academy series just finished up (aside from a spin off series), her Georgina Kincaid series is going strong. She's a bit of an info dumper, but her characters are pretty strong, so I read her despite some of her obvious faults.

2. Reaching the Summit - I sort of already covered this category with Born of Night which was a recent 5 star read for me. But I'll also add Sh*t My Dad Says which is a VERY short, but HILARIOUS read and my most recent 5 star read.

3. Its All Downhill from Here - Bound to Please - you have a few well rated books on your shelves that lead me to believe you might like this book. So not a new genre for you, but a new author. And another 5 star book for me.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. A Game of Thrones - This book came highly recommended to me and looks like it would fit in with your interests. I have it "on deck" so if you decided to read it, I'd definitely buddy read it with you.

2. Kiss of Fire - this one is on both our TBRs (one of 5 we have in common). I'd be happy to buddy read this one with you as well.

Happy Reading.

message 178: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 4413 comments Autumn,
Took me a while to come up with books for B1 & B3 - everytime I thought of a good one, I discovered you had the author or the series on your lists! But I kept going and found some good ones for you:

A - Out With the Old - from your TBR:
1. Pile O' Books: At 541 pages, this is lengthy but not overwhelming, and it's good: A Tale of Two Cities
2. Mt. TBR: smaller but very good, and when you finish it, you'll want to complete the trilogy. The good part is that you won't have to wait for book 3 to come out, as I (impatiently) did!
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Follow it up with Catching Fire and Mockingjay
3. Steadily Gaining: I see Nalini Singh's Slave to Sensation on your TBR. This is the first book in her wonderful world of the Psy and the Changelings, and is definitely a series worth continuing. I recently read Play of Passion which is the 9th in the series.

B. In With the New - not on your TBR:
1. Cresting the Rise: I saw only one Christine Feehan book on your list, and it wasn't part of her GhostWalker series, so that's my recommendation to you. It's about super-soldiers who have been 'enhanced' with special abilities. Oh, there are women who were also part of the experiment, but in a different way. It begins with Shadow Game and so far is up to #9, Ruthless Game, which I'll be reading in February.
2. Reaching the Summit: For a fun read, go for Georgette Heyer's The Toll-Gate, in which Jack 'gets a leveller' when he falls for an intelligent young woman who drives through the toll-gate he's temporarily minding. Lots of fun and some intrigue.
3. It's All Downhill: An author new to you is Lynn Viehl, who has built the world of the Dark Kyn (her version of the vampire) and continued it with the Kyndred. Her series begins with If Angels Burn. I'll be reading Frostfire, which is the latest about the Kyndred.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
We both have As You Desire on our TBRs, so I'd be happy to do a buddy-read with you.
I'm also planning on reading Blue Bloods by Melissa de la Cruz early in the month, so could buddy-read that as well.

1. Pile’s O’Books – War and Peace Just couldn't resist it. You should actually consider hollowing out the book and using it to store contraband as you are never actually going to read it. I'm going with Connie Brockway's As You Desire, and, since I need an 'I' book for another challenge, I'll read Impulse as well.

I'm really tempted with A Rake's Guide To Pleasure, but my records show I read and traded away To Tempt A Scotsman. That was a while ago, though, so maybe it's time to give Dahl another try - if I decide to go for it, I'll definitely let you know!

Penney (pschoener) | 3553 comments Hi Joyce

Ok, I've just surfaced from exploring your massive TBR and I think I've come up with some pretty good reads. I hope you find something you like :)

A. Out With the Old (From your TBR)
1. Piles O'Books ~ Breaking Dawn ~ C'mon, you've got to finished the series. This 750 monster is the best book in the group.
2. Mt. TBR ~ Naked in Death ~ This is the start of an awesome series and it's only 306 pgs :)
3. Steadily Gaining ~ Darkfever ~ This was the hardest choice to make but Darkfever is the beginning of a great UF series and I just finished the last book. I think you'll enjoy it.

B. In With The New (a few of the books not on your TBR)
1. Cresting the Rise ~ Angels' Blood ~ Wonderful series by a wonder author, Nalini Singh.
2. Reaching the Summit ~ The Iron Duke ~ I just read this book and loved it. Lot's of action in an alternate history.
3. It's All Downhill From Here ~ Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas ~ I saw very little historical romance and no Lisa Kleypas on your lists so I thought you might like a change.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone (Buddy Reads)
I just got both of these books on sale at Audible.com. I thought you might want to read/listen to one of them along with me :)
1. ~ Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews
2. ~ Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead

Happy Reading!

Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4) by Stephenie Meyer Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh The Iron Duke (Iron Seas, #1) by Meljean Brook [image error] Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments D.G. - Sorry about the delay. Wonderful night out last night and family fun earlier this morning. I'm hoping you fill find something you like here.

*Sorry about the delay. Here is the post again with the rest of the pics.

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books – War and Peace Just couldn't resist it. You should actually consider hollowing out the book and using it to store contraband as you are never actually going to read it. Seriously though, read Don Quixote. I read it in college in a Spanish lit class. Since you are fluent in the language, it would take you a heck of a lot less time and I still enjoyed the story.
2. Mt. TBR – Swap - a short erotica read that has decent reviews. Often if I'm in the middle of a reading funk I'll read a short erotica as a palate cleanser. Maybe this would help you get the stack worked down some.
3. Steadily gaining – Catching Fire - you read the first one, really liked it, and stopped? you have to finish the trilogy for the full story.

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise – Flat-Out Sexy - Loved it! Second book is better. Third book is OK. Fourth book is due out in a month or two. Sexy contemporary that is also pretty funny.
2. Reaching the Summit – I don't really give more than one or two ***** ratings in a year. But the last standout five star read for me was probably Nation. Knowing that the author is suffering from alzheimer's does make it more special. Did I mention it's YA and I still loved it?
3. Its All Downhill from Here – Tough call on this one. You list Fantasy in your reading profile, but don't really have much in the way of hard-core fantasy reads. You also have next to nothing in the way of Horror. While I believe everyone should read a scary Stephen King book once, I'm still going to go with A Game of Thrones. This is what is referred to as a really freakin' good book. The kind of book that changes the genre, spawns mini-series, and creates web sites devoted to it. 24,000 + ratings and an average of 4.42? READ IT.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
I don't know if I'd get to read these with you or not. Schedule for Feb is still pretty up in the air.
1. Heartbreaker is by Julie Garwood. Since she is our FAC author for the month, I've picked this up to read. If you care to get it done at the same time, you are more than welcome.
2. Was going to say the Nora Roberts Chesapeake Bay series, but you've already read those. (I plan on using the second book as my second book in a series.) So instead why don't you read one of the other Roberts trilogies while I read the Chesapeake Bay? Key Trilogy, Circle Trilogy, Sign of Seven, Three Sisters Island, or a couple of others would all fit the bill. The Key Trilogy is decent and the Three Sisters Island is good too. The Circle and Sign of Seven both have vampires so you may wish to skip those for now (as per your guideline).

Again, sorry for breaking this up into two go'rounds but didn't want to have to re-do the first part and certainly wasn't done. If you have any questions or problems, let me know.

Jim

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Rena,

As requested, no paranormal romance books. :)

Here are my recs:

1) Pile'sOBooks -The Book Thief
Longest book in your TBR, and was a 5-star read for me, so I highly recommend it.

2) Mt. TBR - The Little Prince
At 86 pages, its one of your thin books that I have read. A small book with a big message, I think you'll enjoy it.

3) Steadily Gaining - At the Bride Hunt Ball
Just recently read this book, and found it a funny, refreshing historical romance. I was grinning half the time while I was reading.

4) Cresting the Rise - The Unsung Hero
I read that you like WW stories. There is a WW romance intertwined with the contemporary story in this book.

5) Reaching the Summit - Naked in Death
First book in JD Robb's In Death series. I'm in book 8 and so far, each installment was a great read.

6) It's All Downhill from Here - Gabriel's Ghost
New Genre/New Author? So how about some sci-fi romance? A fast-paced space adventure with a strong female lead and a dashing hero.

7) Go it Alone or With Someone - Ice Blue or Welcome to Temptation
Two books that are common in our TBR and I'm willing to buddy read with you if you decide to pick one.

Hope you'll find something in the list that interests you.

Happy reading!

Here are my picks for you. :) Given you have such a short list of 'read' books, and no TBR, I have let my imagination reign, but tried to stick to historicals and PNR as this seems to be your taste in reading. Let me know if you have already read some of these (considering you only joined recently and may not have put all your books on GR), and I'll go again.

A: Out with the old: To Be Reads (TBR)
1. Pile 'o books (longer book): Twilight by Stephenie Meyer (498 pages). Why not? - every else has read it...
2. Mt TBR (short book): The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole (ebook 113 pages). This is the start of her Immortals After Dark series which is fun PNR.
3. Steadily gaining (good book I enjoyed): Slave to Sensation or Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh. Both of the these are the first books of Singh's two series. Both are excellent.

B: In with the new: all new book
1. Cresting the rise (great ongoing series): Dark Prince by Christine Feehan. I LOVE Christine Feehan's books: the Carpathian, Ghostwalkers and Leopards series (I haven't read the sister or water series). Whilst I didn't love the first book Dark Prince, I stuck with the series and now (at book 21: Dark Peril) I can't get enough.
2. Reaching the summit (recent 5 star read): The Grand Sophy by Georgette Heyer. Another author I love. I read this the other day (again) and found the book delightful. No sex (maybe a kiss at the very end) but beautifully described characterisation and situations.
3. All downhill from here (new author/genre): Sci-fi Rom - After Dark by Jayne Castle. This is a great series that is an autobuy for me. Really fun.

C. Go it alone or with someone: buddy read if possible
I'm planning to read the following two three books in February:
1. The Lion's Lady by Julie Garwood. This is the February featured author.
2. The Foundling by Georgette Heyer. A book starting with "F" for the February monthly challenge...
3. Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern. I added this just because - and it fits the comic category of the monthly challenge...

Hope one of these books suit, Juana. Again, if you have already read some of these, let me know and I'll re-pick. :)

Miss | 330 comments Hayley, here are my picks for you:

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books Outlander - this is a really good book and don't let the length daunt you, at the end you'll wish to go on to the next one in the series!
2. Mt. TBR Just the Sexiest Man Alive - a delightful read
3. Steadily gaining The Surgeon - a fast-paced medical thriller

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise The Demon's Lexicon - my favourite new series for 2010, it's truly amazing!
2. Reaching the Summit On the Edge - even if this is the first in a series, it is also a stand-alone story and the world is so well built and written
3. It's All Downhill from Here The Atonement Child - i don't read much Christian Romance, but this story was really moving and beautiful

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1.The Tea Rose - i've seen some wonderful reviews about this book and i'm dying to read it, so maybe we can read it together :)
2.Ain't She Sweet? - i've missed reading one of SEP's book, they are always a hit with me, so would love to read this one with you also

Thanks Jim (and not sure what delay you are talking about, LOL! you did the recs so promptly!) I'd definitely read Catching Fire because I'm planning to read it as my second book for the monthly challenge. I'd also try to get to 'Nation' (I already requested it from the library...let's hope it gets to me on time.) I'm sort of a new fantasy reader but what I've read, I've liked so I'm very, very excited about 'A Game of Thrones.' I've never heard of it but it sounds terrific. I may not get to it this month but I'll definitely read it.

Thanks so much for the recs!

Ari (moochew12) | 159 comments Hi Regina!

A. Out with the Old
1. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
Looks like you read through them all, why not finish up the series this month?
2. Mt. TBR
Fated - A Doomsday Brethren novella. This you can probably finish in an hour or so, but still secretly count it towards any of your reading goals.
3. Steadily gaining
Catching Fire. It's always pleasant to finish a series you begin. (I have an awful habit myself, of not finishing series.)

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise
Uhm, I sort of am in “flight mode” right now. There’s no series, I’m actually working on, but for the purposes of this.... I will proclaim the Bitten series. I have the third one, but haven’t gotten into it yet (it changed the first-person to another character, which irked me).
2. Reaching the Summit
The Kite Runner or A Thousand Splendid Suns. I found the second one to be much easier to take. It was still sad, but it had a better outcome per se.
3. Its All Downhill from Here
Loose Ends by Terri Reid. This is full of paranormal and mystery. I saw you like a bit of mystery so I hope this sounds good.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. I don’t think I like horror, but there’s only one way to find out. How about Misery by Stephen King. (I saw the movie, it was crazy...)
2. Sing Me to Sleep. We both have this on our TBR's.

If there is nothing here that seems up to what you'd like to read let me know. I'd be happy to go through your shelves again.

AlbertaJenn | 0 comments This post is for The Fabulous Jane (PS). I'm at work right now, but I will have the list for you tonight! :-)

Okay, better late than never!

A. Out with the old
1) Piles O' Books - Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward
2) Mount TBR - Tempted by Two by Anya Bast (I read this as part of Good Things Come in Threes)
3) Steadily Gaining - Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas

B. In with the new
1) Cresting the Rise - Nightwalker by Jocelyn Drake (a cool series about vampires and the fae)
2) Reaching the Summit - Dance With The Devil (I love Sherrilyn!)
3) It's All Downhill from Here - Impulse by Candace Camp (new author to you; writes similar to Lisa Kleypas)

C. Go it alone or with someone
1) Warrior by Zoe Archer (I have been eyeing this series for a while)
2) Wicked Enchantment by Anya Bast (on my TBR list, and I noticed you read Bast)

Happy reading!

message 194: by Tatiana (new)

Tatiana (tatiana_g) Hi Penney!

Here is my list for you

A. Out with the Old

1. Pile’s O’Books – Pick a book from your selectee’s list that is lengthy (or that you think could cause damage if it were to fall on them!) - Beautiful Creatures - this is not the longest book on your TBR, but 4th from the top. I picked it for you because I see you are very fond of PNR and you might enjoy this YA romance.

2. Mt. TBR – You have to take a single step in order to start climbing a mountain – pick a book that is smaller (to test out the waters so to speak) - Magic Bites - although this is not one of my favorite books, almost all my friends love this series. Maybe you will enjoy it as well?

3. Steadily gaining – Pick a book on their list, that you have read and enjoyed - The Kite Runner - it's been awhile since I read this book, but I remember enjoying it very much, and it is an interesting glimpse into another country's culture and a heart-breaking story.

B. In With the New

1. Cresting the Rise – Pick a new book in a series (that is not already on their shelves) that is still in progress and that you continue to read - Succubus Blues - this is the 1st book in one of my favorite UF series. The last, 6th book in the series will be out this September. You have just enough time to catch up:)

2. Reaching the Summit – Pick a new to them book that you read in the recent past that you rated 5 stars - Daughter of the Forest - I don't give many 5 stars, bit this fantasy novel totally deserves it. It was recommended to me in another Pick It For Me challenge and I totally loved it!

3. It's All Downhill from Here – Pick a New to them Author/Genre - One for the Money - how about a new funny mystery series?

C. Go It Alone or With Someone - Forever Amber and The Book Thief - these two books have been on my TBR for a ling time as well. I will be happy to give them a try together with you:)

Enjoy!

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) Diane,
Here are my picks for you. I hope that one of them is something you'll enjoy reading!

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books:Last Chance Saloon by Marian Keyes (Not the biggest book on your TBR but up there in pages!

2. Mt. TBR:Bachelor On The Prowl by Kasey Michaels (you really don't any short books, but this is close)

3. Steadily gaining: Metro Girl by Janet Evanovich(this is the only book that we have in common that I've read and you haven't! everything else we've both read or you've read and I haven't lol. But this is a good book or so I thought!!!)

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise: Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr (You seem to have a few YA books on your shelf and this is a series that is not on your shelf... This is on many different shelves, YA, Paranormal Romance, Fantasy...)

2. Reaching the Summit: Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin (You don't have a shelf listed as Chic-Lit and this is what this is considered. It's a fun read to me and I rated it 5 stars.. Hopefully if you decide to read this you'll enjoy it too)

3. Its All Downhill from Here: Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. (You've never read a book by him so maybe you'll enjoy this one!)

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. Recommend 2 books that you haven’t read and would be interested in reading. If your partner decides to read one of these, then you should aim to read them as a buddy read.

The Kept Woman by Susan Donovan (I've been wanting to read this and it's on both of our TBR shelves)

Mine Till Midnight by Lisa Kleypas (Again, both on our TBR shelves and I've heard Lisa Kleypas is an awesome author, I just haven't had the pleasure of reading her work)

3. Steadily Gaining: Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake...this is one of my top faves (I have many though)!!

B. In with the new
1. Cresting Rise: Soulless first in its series....still reading the rest.
2. Reaching the summit: Happy Ever After is the final book in the series. I loved all four books!
3. Its all downhill from here: For One More Day this one is a little different from what you have on your lists...but very good!

Tatiana thank you so much for the recs, they're great! Forever Amber is a definite because I already plan on reading it for the February challenge. Also, I just bought Succubus Blues and Magic Bites from Audible.com (great sale!), so at least one of those will be read this month as well. I'm trying really, really hard not to add to my TBR right now, but I just can't resist Daughter of The Forest. I won't be able to get to it this month, but it looks like a great read.
Thanks again for the recommendations :)
